Simsky's "Better TV" mod - greatly improves Sims TV habits (updated 2008-06-14)

This mod greatly improves Sims TV habits.
* 06/14/2008 - FreeTime update #2 *

Use the "Simsky_Mod_BetterTV_Freetime.package" file if you have Freetime (or Apartment Life or a newer EP); use the "Simsky_Mod_BetterTV.package" file for older EPs (base game until Bon Voyage).

Residential lots / Vacation hotels (BV) / Apartments (AL): Sims will turn the TV off right away after they finish working out or watching it (even from the bed or the john), unless another Sim is watching it (but if the Sim is a rude person, he/she will do it anyway ;o).

Commercial lots: Sims will NOT turn the TV off when they are done, whether or not another Sim is watching, greatly improving game play on lots where TVs need to stay on all the time - movie theaters (with giant TV screens), electronics stores that sell TVs, sports bars that have plasma TVs, etc.

However, the option remains for the players to direct Sims to turn off TVs on commercial lots, if they wish.

OFB lots:
Residential Shops / Shop open: After watching TV or working out with it, Sims will not turn off the TV, unless you command them to do it.
Residential Shops / Shop closed: Sims will always turn off the TV after watching or working out (unless another Sim is watching it).
Electrono-Ticket Machine Home Shops: remember to buy an Open/Closed sign to be able to close your shop.

Owned Community Shops: Sims will never autonomously turn the TV off when their Energy is low on community lots, may the shop be open or closed.


Compatibility: This item works in all versions of the game - including Apartment Life .

Note: This mod changes TV semi-global routines. It should not be used together with similar global mods such as Numenor's "Turn Off TV Fix" as there would be a conflict. You won't need other "TV off" mods when ours is in the game .

Maxis "introduced" many TV-related bugs in FreeTime - e.g. movies listed twice in the TV menu when watching it from bed. These bugs are not related to this mod and can be fixed by the FreeTime patch from Maxis.

Installation: Extract the .package file from the archive to Downloads / Simsky

Use the "Simsky_Mod_BetterTV_Freetime.package" file if you have Freetime (or Apartment Life or a newer EP); use the "Simsky_Mod_BetterTV.package" file for older EPs (base game until Bon Voyage).

If you already have an older version, just replace the existing package file with the new one.

To uninstall: Simply remove the package file.
