So, one of the things I found most disappointing in the new game were the paintings available. Not that i wouldn't have done this anyway sooner or later, but the lameness of the paintings in the base game urged me to do so to have something decent to hang up on my walls.
Unfortunately, as of now we haven't the means of adding completely new objects, nor to have several recolors of the same mesh. All that can be done right now is a default replacement that changes the existing paintings. As such you have been warned: this is a default replacement, with this package active you'll have the new paintings but you'll lose the old, vanilla ones! Not that it's really a loss though...
What's there
Almost all the BUYABLE paintings and posters in game are changed to anime/manga artworks. The only exception is the smallest painting (called Faro nella Nebbia in the italian version, judging by the filename it must be "mission" something in english): the texture for it was so ridiculously small (something like 40x25 pixels) that nothing would have looked fine with it.
Other wall hangings and paintings made by your sim at the canvas are left untouched. Actually I would have loved to customize the latters too, but it seems they work in a slightly different way and I need to investigate more.
As for the pics chosen, you might recognize some of the artworks I used long ago for the huge pack of anime paintings I made for The Sims 2. While here we have only 24 paintings instead of 300 like back then, the source is the same, my own little collection taken from artbooks and imageboards.
In the provided screenshots you can see all the new paintings - ordered by price from cheapest to most pricey - with a short description reminding the related series and artists. Where the author is specified the pic was scanned from an artbook, elsewhere the source is either unknown or simply an official advertising artwork of the series (in some istances taken from reworked fanmade wallpapers).
How to install and play
Simply extract the .package inside the rar into your program files/electronic arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages directory. Remember that to enable custom content downloaded as .package you need the correct resource.cfg. If you still haven't tweaked the game to use custom packages, read here.
Now, before starting up the game, you should delete the cache files under my documents/electronic arts/the sims 3. Otherwise, the paintings already hanging from walls will still show the old pictures, and you'll get the new pictures only for newly bought items. The cache files to delete should be compositorCache.package and simCompositorCache.package (probably the first one is enough though, the latter should regard sims and clothing, not objects I believe).
Deleting these files is absolutely safe: the game will rebuild them automatically.
That's it, enjoy your new paintings.
Compatibility and Troubleshooting
This little mod is compatibile with anything that doesn't change the buyable paintings.
Also take note it seems that a couple of paintings give a strange behaviour regarding to frames. Sometimes, with some frames the painting will come out with old, vanilla pic, while with other frames the very same painting works as intended. I have absolutely no idea why, but the problem is very small and it seems to be limited to very few painting-frame pairings.

Install Instructions
1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.
For Package files:
1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
For Sims3Pack files:
1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).
Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.
