Sims 3 Generations

There were new changes done to the code in Generations. To be on the safe side, use the Generations mods instead.

By EA default, the decay rate for Hygiene was huge, forcing Sims to quit gardening sooner whether it be watering, fertilizing or weeding. Planting does not cause the Sim's Hygiene motive (bar) to decay because the planting interaction(s) do not have the Hygiene code. Neither does planting have the Fun code to increase Fun, which I added to make planting fun for the Sims.

Gardening Tasks:

Fertilizing - giving the plants food
Watering - giving the plants water
Weeding - removing weeds from the plants
Harvesting - gathering the crops from the plants
Picking up seeds - picking up seeds (Special Gardening Task - Required)
Planting single or many seeds - planting new plants (Special Gardening Task - Required)

Folders:

Less Hygiene And More Fun Series - Individual mods to increase Fun at a faster rate and decrease Hygiene at a slower rate from the gardening tasks.

Less Hygiene Series - Individual mods to decrease Hygiene at a slower rate from the gardening tasks. The mods do NOT increase Fun.

Child Enabled Less Hygiene And More Fun Series - Individual mods to enable children to perform gardening tasks. The mods increase Fun at a faster rate and decrease Hygiene at a slower rate.

Child Enabled Less Hygiene Series - Individual mods to enable children to perform gardening tasks. The mods decrease Hygiene at a slower rate. The mods do NOT increase Fun.

Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff Information

The AM versions of the gardening mods are compatible with Outdoor Living Stuff. There is one change with one of the versions that was missing the Fun code to boost the Sim's Fun motive while the Sim is performing a gardening task. The newly replaced mod, LessHygieneDecayAndMoreFunFromGardeningTasks-AM-FIXED, contains the changes and also has an All-In-One file that has all of the mods in a single file for those who want to save space in their Mods folders.

Sims 3 Late Night Information

These mods have been checked for compatibility with Late Night. Will work with the latest patch.


Sims 3 Ambitions Information

These mods have been updated for Sims 3 Ambitions. And they're repacked to make it easier to download.

Sims 3 High End Loft Stuff (HELS)

I verified these gardening task series to be compatible with Sims 3 HELS (game version 3.0.3.x) and Sims 3 patched up to 2.4.x.

What's new for both Sims 3 and World Adventures?

I decided to come up with a version of these mods to enable children to water, weed, plant and fertilize the garden. These mods are labeled clearly to inform you they're child-enabled so you can choose which mods you want to install.

I haven't seen the other gardening mods updated or verified to be compatible for World Adventures, and I also came across a comment from another site where someone wanted these mods updated for World Adventures to allow children to maintain gardens. Since I already verified these mods to be sure they work for both Sims 3 and World Adventures, I decided to go ahead and come up with a series to enable children to maintain their gardens although the others exist already.

You will find that the children will stretch when they perform gardening tasks, but they will do fine maintaining gardens that way. When they're done, they will return to their normal child sizes.

BUT if you want your Sims' Fun motives to be boosted, only choose the package labeled Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Gardening Tasks - Sims 3 if you don't want your children to maintain a garden.

If you want your children to maintain a garden and have your Sims gain Fun, choose Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Gardening Tasks - Child Enabled - Sims 3.

The other mods do not boost the Fun motive.

Do not install all of them at once! The mods labeled Harvesting, Weeding, Watering or Fertilizing are separate mods you can choose to install individually. The Gardening Tasks mods (both Fun and non-Fun) are the packages with everything included.

SPECIAL NOTE:

If you don't have World Adventures, you can still use these mods. All of these mods work with both the original Sims 3 game and World Adventures.

These mods will work with my other gardening mods called Faster Garden Tasks Series because they use different files. You can find other Sims 3 mods by just clicking on my name and then switching to view Sims 3 mods.


World Adventures Information:

I verified the mods to see if they needed updating for World Adventures. Both mods are compatible with World Adventures. Nothing changed in the code for the interactions with the garden. Remember to choose ONE mod to install.

The install location is for XP users:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Mods\Packages

Vista and Windows 7 players will have to install the mod into their World Adventures folder where indicated. I don't use either Vista or Windows 7 and can't help you with installation issues or questions. You will have to search the Sims 3 forums for help installing your mods.


Basic Description:

The series reduce the decay rate at which Hygiene drops from watering, fertilizing, weeding and harvesting in the garden.

Less Hygiene Decay From Watering reduces the decay rate at which the Hygiene motive drops when the Sim waters the plants in the garden.

Less Hygiene Decay From Weeding reduces the decay rate at which the Hygiene motive drops when the Sim weeds the plants in the garden.

Less Hygiene Decay From Harvesting reduces the decay rate at which the Hygiene motive drops when the Sim harvests the plants in the garden.

Less Hygiene Decay From Fertilizing reduces the decay rate at which the Hygiene motive drops when the Sim fertilizes the plants in the garden.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Fertilizing does not decrease or increase Fun because the Fertilize interaction itself is different from the other gardening interactions (Weeding, Watering and Harvesting), but this interaction does have a decay rate for Hygiene.


Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Garden Tasks:

This set of Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Garden Tasks mods has one additional feature to boost the Fun motive for Sims while they are weeding, watering or harvesting the plants in their gardens.

You can choose one or all of the new alternate versions from the Less Hygiene Decay And More Fun From Garden Tasks to install in your game.


These mods are for people who do not use gardening mods to enable children to perform gardening chores or collect seeds.

Modifications:

The original value (EA's value) in one line for all three tuning files caused the Sim's Hygiene motive to bottom out or go into the red very quickly within minutes of starting the gardening tasks. I changed the value in each tuning file from -25 to -10 to slow down the Hygiene decay rate. The Sim's Hygiene motive will decay over time, allowing him or her to work in the garden for a longer period of time. This is ideal for those players who want farmers in their games to make a living growing and cultivating their gardens all day as real life farmers do.


SPECIAL NOTE:

The original mods did not contain a line to allow for the Fun motive to be increased while the Sim is watering, weeding or harvesting the plants in the garden. Even the Eaxis scripts themselves did not contain a line to boost the Sim's Fun motive while the Sim is performing a gardening task in the garden.


NOTE:

The series will conflict with other mods modifying the gardening tasks and/or motives related to the gardening tasks such as XLStormyLX's Children Can Garden mods. Her mods are based on my Less Hygiene Decay series.


Note of Differences:

Her mods included the changes to enable children to do the gardening tasks and to collect seeds. My series don't include the changes to allow the children to perform their gardening tasks or collect seeds.

Without a mod to affect the Hygiene motive when the gardening tasks are performed, the Sim's Hygiene motive would bottom out very quickly within minutes. With my series, the Sim's Hygiene motive would decay slowly over time, allowing them to work in the garden for longer periods of time. The series would be perfect for players who want farmers in their games.
