Naylor hates when his father is away on business trips, because being the man of the house is nothing but difficult. His babysitting responsibilities caused him to drop off the high school swim team, and made him miss his opportunity at college last year. At 19, he feels like he's trapped for life.

When he finds the time, Naylor likes to unwind by pursuing his hobby of being a merman, exploring the waters of San Francisco. With his background in swimming it was an easy choice for him, but has since found that being a merman has allowed him to take time to rediscover himself and to temporarily escape from everything.
