Hey, sunny! Do you have a recent copy of your career .package file you could upload, or are you still using the one from your post above (#282)? I'll be happy to take a look at your files.

Sorry, If I have a lot of questions. But I'm newbie here and not very understand with the tutorial.

Okay, now I'm trying to follow ThomasRiordan instructions and there's a question in my mind that I can't solve. The question is about:

Quote:
Delete the two other STBL files from the package.

If we delete "Strings BLANK English" that contain a lot of description (like Job Offer Description and Skill Tone Description), where we write all the description? I don't understand much about it.

And also, if we delete the "Strings BLANK English" then how other people can translate the game languange?

Please help me And again, sorry If you're not understand what I'm talking about because my english is bad.

ThomasRiordan's instructions show you how to create a new STBL file. The "Strings BLANK English" file doesn't work, which is why we need to delete it. So, once you've followed ThomasRiordan's instructions, you'll have a new version of the "Strings BLANK English" file that will work. And it will be in the new file that you put all the descriptions and titles.
For people to translate, you can then copy your English strings and paste it in your career and rename it.
So for example, a career might have English strings called this: Strings CareerName English.
I would copy this file and paste and rename it: Strings CareerName Chinese and change the first two numbers of the FNV64, just like you do for the English, but use the chart on the tutorial.

If that made no sense at all let me know!

Sorry it has taken me so long to return to this post. I recently purchased Supernatural and Pets and was going through some issues in getting them to work (word to the wise: you are going to be better off getting them directly from origin or getting the discs, instead of ordering the instant access versions from Amazon)

I'm fairly sure that the version of my career that I have attached is the most recent. I was so fed up that I removed it from my game, so I could be wrong.

Any help is appreciated - it was driving me crazy.

I've looked at the career, sunny, and you need to follow ThomasRiordan's instructions on the first page to sort the English strings

Is it the UnhashedKeys file you're replacing, or the English strings?

Then it sounds like you need to follow ThomasRiordan's instructions on how to create STBL strings on page one of this thread. So no, you haven't done anything wrong at all

Just the English. The UnhashedKeys should have been the first ones you did and replaced

lol derp! thanks xD

moradaulay5 27th Oct 2013 4:32 AM

Thank you so much, missyhissy. Now I'm understand! But ThomasRiordan say that we have to delete two other STBL file, so the UnhashedKeys will be deleted too. So we only have one STBL file in our package now. If the new STBL file that replaced the Strings CareerName English file, will it replaced the UnhashedKeys too?

Thank you for your answer. And again, sorry for my bad english.

moradaulay5 27th Oct 2013 4:52 AM

And now I've got new problems. I try to download and install career package but its always makes the game crashes. I already download the Nraas Career version for patch 1.55-1.57 and the creator of the career says that its compatible with those patch. But its still crashes! Help! My game info:

EP: Base game, Supernatural, Pets, Island Paradise
SP: -NO SP-
Patch: 1.57

I think its similar with sunnylikesunshine90's problems. So please help me please

missyhissy 27th Oct 2013 11:38 AM

I've never deleted the UnhashedKeys, but a lot of creators do and it doesn't appear to matter. But the STBL that does need replacing is the English. So if you wish to delete the UnhashedKeys, you may, but you can also leave it in
If it's a career by another creator, you're better off letting them know. Does it require an EP you don't own? And make sure you haven't got an older version of the Careers mod tucked away in your mods folder, as that will cause it to crash

Another late reply - oops. I recently created another career, and through a few missteps, managed to follow ThomasRiordan's guide on the first page. It actually seems to work this time! Maybe when I have a bit more time, I'll go back and edit my Prison career.

Thanks so much for everyone's help

Ok, I have a conundrum...

I followed the wiki all the way to the bottom. Changed the NoCareer to the JoinCareer string of numbers, changed the value to the FNV64 value, deleted my cache files went back in the game and clicked on my rabbithole (stadium) and it was still showing the JoinCareer############## ... but, all the titles and descriptions were there and working after I clicked it and joined the career - both for the join career popup and the career panel (at least for the first level as I haven't gone beyond that). Long story short - I found this thread and followed the steps in this post: http://www.modthesims.info/showthre...809#post4242809 changing all the hashes/id instances to match between the unhashedkey and the english string files. After I did that "Join ___ Career" did show instead of JoinCareer############## BUT then all my titles and descriptions disappeared. So I had the two versions of the career files and one worked w/ the "Join ___ Career" showing but no descriptions and titles, and one worked w/ "JoinCareer#########" showing, but all my descriptions and titles showing. So I went back to my previous version (the one that showed "JoinCareer###########" and titles and descriptions; where all the id instances between the unhashedkey and english string files were different) took JUST the ID instance for the particular lines ([01]) from the unhashedkey file and put it into the english strings files (which then made that line the only one that had the id instances matching). AND that worked to where now "Join ____ Career" shows and title description shows. Which baffles the heck out of me.

If it helps here's part of the files ($$$$$ replacing the name of the career just for this post):

first 3 lines unhashedkeys file:

[00] 0x59247D9F6582A69E: Gameplay/Excel/Careers/CareerList:$$$$$
[01] 0x5BFB7F16860A1CEA: Gameplay/Careers/GetJobInRabbitHole:JoinCareer14018481601492444685
[02] 0x9E768C5965D616F6: Gameplay/Excel/Careers/CareerList:$$$$$Offer

english strings:

[00] 0x870CEDB193A33B5E: $$$$$
[01] 0x5BFB7F16860A1CEA: Join $$$$$ Career
[02] 0xC7219775099B0264: Description goes here

See how all the #s are different, except for the [01] line? Yet that seems to work. Why? This is my first career mod, so I want to understand why that is so I don't have to go through all this again.

[ETA] Hmm... I guess they don't have to match? I went through some career mods that others have done and they don't match up, their join career line #s don't either, so that still confuses me.
[ETA2] NM, I tested the FNV Hash in another career for their "Gameplay/Careers/GetJobInRabbitHole:JoinCareer######################" I figured out where I went wrong, in the wiki it says 'You now need to replace the “NoCareer” part with your JoinCareer number that you wrote down from in game, and replace the value in the bottom to your FNV64 value that you wrote down too.', since it was in the same sentence, I assumed the value you had to replace was in the unhashedkey file since the "NoCareer" part is in that file, but the value you have to replace is in the english string file which now makes sense why the last version I did works!

Oh my gosh how funny, I was going to do a career like this! But decided to change it to Flavorist on my list of careers to make.

Can someone take a look at this?

I need help, my 1st career mod seems to be functioning fine and I've advanced a sim to level 8 as of right now and have made minor changes as it progressed. Now just waiting for the opportunities and events to trigger as only a couple of them have so far. Being happy with where that is, I made a 2nd career mod, but when I load it in my mods folder and open the game it crashes to the desktop before the maxis screen even appears. The Instance IDs should all be unique and I've checked and rechecked everything so many times I'm going cross-eyed. So I'm missing something, just don't know what. I used the mobster career as the basis to begin with, but after I finished everything and resulted in the crash, I redid it using another existing career mod - replacing files, renaming, changing dlls, etc, same thing and finally I started with a blank, added and then replacing. So it's got to be in the coding somewhere, but not sure where. Between this file and my first career mod I have an additional xml for books, but when I look at each file it seems kosher with what mobsters has, so again, I'm stuck. Anyone willing to take a look? Pretty please? Thanks in advance!
