Watching New Girl. It's so bad but I just can't stop watching it.

Lately I've been considering learning Japanese, but its writing system scares the shit out of me. So many kanji... I don't think I have the ability or patience to learn all of them. What do you girls think? Good idea or no? If I ever did learn Japanese, it would be after I've learned Italian and have time to study the characters.

Japanese is a really fascinating language to learn, but to get good, it takes a long time. I had it easy in the sense that I was totally immersed in the language because I lived there for two years, so I had no problems with my accent and I basically had to learn the characters so I could find my way around sometimes. You don't need all of the kanji, but they are useful. I think you should give it a go! Just start with the two basic alphabets and work your way slowly through kanji :-)

I'm waiting for my breakfast to be ready. I really want buttermilk pancakes with a raspberry sauce, but eggs will have to do.

Celebrities are really private, I live in Bel Air which is already a gated community, but the celebrities that live here are extremely private, especially here in "Lower" Bel Air. They have gated driveways, and the driveways are so long you literally can't see their house at all. It's actually kind of weird to me, but I guess that's what they have to do to stay under the radar. People actually stand outside of the gates, I mean what's the point? You can't see their house? And if you could, what are you going to do? Watch them through the windows? I could never be a celebrity, no privacy and too creepy.

Anyway, my sister's 21st birthday is in less than 2 weeks, my mom wants to surprise her with a birthday party as well as a party to celebrate her getting accepted to University of Michigan for grad. I'm really not in a party planning mood.

Waiting for my best friend to pick me up. We're going to a friend's housewarming and then to an end of high school celebratory party. I'm dying for a good night out!

Went to wash my hair this morning, and my freakin' shampoo and conditioners are missing! I find them in my roomie's bathroom. I HATE when she takes my things without asking, And then she says, "Oh I'm sorry, I ran out and I figured you wouldn't mind if I used a little of yours."

Does using a little of mine constitute using HALF the bottle? What is she doing, eating the shampoo? I'm just under the assumption that she woke up this morning thinking she was Rapunzel. Ugh! And she could have at least been considerate and bought me a new bottle.

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun. Why? Because there are presents under the tree! I'm as excited as a five year old. There's one addressed to me that's huge, not very heavy and I have NO CLUE what it is. I pretty much know what the others are... but this one? No fudging clue. This thing is going to vex me to no end.

Anyways. I'm going to bed.

Day dreaming about getting a new cellphone. The one I have is perfectly fine but I want something that is a bit more customizable than the one I have.

Thinking about computers. I want a new computer so I can play TS3 again, after a year without it. I'm willing to save for one, but the one problem all the good desktops I've seen have is graphics. The graphics always seem to be integrated, which, in my experience, won't work with Sims 3.

Anyone have any good places to look for computers that can actually play the game? I'm a moron when it comes to this stuff. It'd be best if the computers were under $500 US, as, even if I work for it, it's still my parents' money and we can't afford anything more. And please don't go all "You need something that costs at least $1,000 to play Sims" on me. I know that's not true, I played TS3 on an eight-year-old computer that was way less than that just fine (medium graphics, not much lag) until it broke.

Planning my day out. I have my Formal (Prom type thing) on tonight, and I just need to make sure everything runs on time.

Are any girls here the eldest of their siblings? I was talking to my older sister on the phone, and after her long rant about how bad her life is and "woe is me" and crying speeches and all that stuff people who play the victim role, do. She said that our parents were always more hard on her than they were the rest of us, and that parents are always the hardest on the firstborn. I was thinking about this, because my friend who is a firstborn said something similar along those lines, so I was wondering if it actually holds true?

Question: Any girls here who are firstborns, were your parents always more hard on you than they were your other siblings?

^I'm not exactly the eldest, but, as I have only found out I actually have an older sister last year, I can consider myself like that. And my parents always tended to put all responsibility related to my little brother on MY shoulders. "Take him here, take him there", always the same shit, which made me hate my brother, really. I wish he never was born. I mean, I was never asked if I wanted a sibling. I was perfectly happy until that little brat came along.

Dreamy, I may be the youngest sibling in my family, but it's clear to me that I'm the one who always gets the expectations put upon me. My brother is still treated like an only child sometimes, spoiled beyond belief with $2000 Macbooks just because my parents are feeling generous one weekend, whereas I paid for my laptop entirely out of my own money. I think it differs from family to family. I carry all of the high expectations on my shoulders.

Short answer: In my family, yes, first born is deffinately treated the hardest.

Long answer:
I'm the eldest of three, and being first born deffinately had a lot more crap thrown on me than my other two siblings have ever had to deal with. I guess being the oldest, you're the first one to go through school and so you're the first to get the expectations, and your folks (generally!) learn by watching you grow up and so either become stricter or easier on the next child if it works better.

With my childhood (oh how short that was) my parents were constantly fighting until they finally divorced in 2000, then we went through a custody blood bath, two cases of kidnapping and all sorts of other fun stuff. I was always the one to take the hits, even from the age of 6 I was the one looking out for and protecting my sister and brother. Both my parents blamed me for everything, never my siblings, they treated me as their adult confidant, used me as the messenger to be abusive towards the other, yada yada. While I don't wish either of my siblings being the oldest and so having to go through what I did, it would be much more pleasant in general if I wasn't the oldest.

Coming forward to now though, my father (the only one i still speak to) seems to be using me as a role model for my siblings seeing as I'm living away from them and making my own way - weird for Dad to treat me as such when i'm the one who "failed completely" by leaving school ..lol

Interesting to hear you say that. Maybe that's how my eldest sister views me? We've never gotten along. My parents did seem to always throw me on her shoulders as well, when I was 5 years old and just starting school, my parents would leave it to her to give me a bath, and she would just say the nastiest things while doing it, and pinch my skin if I was fidgety. It had gotten to a point where, when my parents asked her to bathe me I'd pretend I was throwing up in the toilet so that she wouldn't do it, although she wasn't stupid, and neither was I very clever.

Earlier this year we got into a huge argument that involved her throwing me to the ground and yelling about how our parents got divorced because I was born (my parents first divorced while my mom was pregnant with me), and that she wished I had went ahead and slit my wrists (I suffered from severe depression after our parents 2nd divorce). My sister has said the nastiest things to me, and when she gets in arguments with one of my other sisters, they're always trivial but when she gets in an argument with me, she ALWAYS takes it way too seriously, and yells and gets in my face. Growing up we've never gotten along, and I really do feel like she hates me for some personal reason, and I mean literally hates me!



PixCii we definitely have a lot in common when it comes to our siblings. I'm the 3rd of 6 siblings, and as far back as I can remember my eldest sister has ALWAYS been at the heart of nearly all of our family feuds. She's very good at telling victim stories to make herself look like such the damsel in distress, and she gets my parents to do things for her this way. After she got pregnant and dropped out of college, they bought her a ridiculously overpriced apartment in Upper East Manhattan, she lived their for no longer than 3 months before she "didn't want an apartment, she wanted a house in California", so she was given my mom's old house after my mom moved to Santa Monica, and my parents continue to pay the bills, while my sister remains jobless. She had a job at McDonalds once and quit because "it hurt her back to stand up for long hours, and the smell of cooking burgers made her nauseous." (Oh please, give a sista a break! )

I feel as if my parents were definitely more strict on me than my older two siblings, more-so after I went through depression. My eldest sister always seemed to get away with a lot more than me and my other sisters. However, I'm not really sure about this, because I can recall once when I was 8 years old, my sister had gotten in trouble for something, and my dad took her upstairs by her arm, and to this day my other sister and I swear that he spanked her, although we can never be sure. She did say once though that he would hit her all the time for things, but this is the same girl who has told countless lies to make herself seem like a victim, I can never be sure if she's telling the truth or not, she'll say anything to make our parents look bad, or me, look bad.



My parents divorced twice, once in 1992 while my mom was pregnant with me, (which is why I'm the only one of my siblings to have her maiden name). They got back together less than two years later, and divorced again in 2005. Hmm, I never really thought about my sister being used as a "messenger" for my mom and dad to continue fighting, and I really can't say if my parents were hard on my sister when I was really young, because we have a big age gap, and I can't really remember or didn't really think about it. But even after my parents had got back together, they were never much of a happy couple, and BOTH of my sisters did always seem to look out for me, although my 2nd eldest sister and I get along 100 times better then my eldest sister and I.

I'm the eldest and I definitely feel that my parents were harder on me than my brother. They certainly had/have far higher expectations for me, especially academcially. My father would always flip out if I got a bad grade and he spent an entire year tutoring me to pass the entrance exam for my school, whereas when my brother completely flunked all his exams this past summer nobody said anything. Not going to university was never an option for me (although I would have wanted to go anyway), but they've told my brother that he doesn't have to go if he doesn't want to.

They're also far more lax on rules with him. He tends to go where he wants when he wants and they don't seem to worry about curfews or where he's gone and who he's with, which really bugs me, although perhaps it's because I'm a girl that they were more worried. And my brother got things at a much earlier age than I did, for instance he had a computer in his room when he was 12 while I wasn't allowed one until I was 15, which meant that he got one a year after I did. It does feel as if I had a constant fight to get everything while he just breezed through in my wake.

I suppose I do have to be fair and admit that there are some benefits to being the eldest. My brother has always got a lot of my old things, like my old bikes and my old laptop, while I've gotten things new.

Home for Winter Break! Even though I'm leaving for Indiana tomorrow to visit my sister, and then we're flying back to LA together on Thursday. I'm taking my boyfriend with me, he's from Canada and hasn't really been around the States. Even though that'll change soon, gotta take him to meet my dad in Oregon. My mom and step-dad are visiting Dublin tomorrow and are coming back on Friday. My boyfriend goes, "Ireland!? Isn't it Christmas Break? For a family you guys are all over the place!" I told him as a member of our family, we're never in one place, we have a busybody trait in our gene pool

I just got home from being out all day with my mother, and I've finally realised just how good shopping is as exercise. Now I'm relaxing with tea, macarons, and a good book.

American recipes annoy me... How on earth do you measure one cup of butter? And what the heck is 1 x packet of store-bought topping? Is it sauce? Icing? Frosting?

I am baking...with metric recipes. I've made giant chocolate-choclate chip muffins with a caramel centre, giant mixed berry muffins and chocolate chip biscuits (cookies) the last batch with caramel essence added Yum!

Watching Cartoon Network and waiting for my sister to get up so I can rap her Happy Birthday. I wrote this rap song only for her and it is god awful, if you guys knew half the embarassing things I do to my family, you'd know why they hate taking me out in public.

Installing Ambitions to this laptop. I'm so paranoid it's going to suddenly stop working and blue-screen me, but I've made it through CAS, written a novel and gone to France with no problems.

My sister did not just slap a giant box of Pizza Bites in my face after I said I was hungry -__-

Packing! I'm going home for the holidays for three weeks as soon as I finish my French exam tomorrow morning.
