My 5th day at my new apartment and I managed to set the fire alarm off HEATING UP WATER!! Since we can't turn off the alarms I sat to wait for the fire department....
THAT isn't what ruined my day. What put a real damper on the whole experience was the blingbling of the wedding ring on the finger of that cute fireman..... (PS - there was something on the coil/element which caused it to smoke.. what it was I dunno... might be a new coil though, it looks newer than the others, and had a coating that needs to burn off? Whichever. Sheesh. As soon as I saw smoke I turned on the fan and opened windows. I heard the smoke detectors here are sensitive but this was c-r-a-z-y!!) |
Not being able to set aside time to draw or attempt to play a game that requires Flash. Personally, I am "head-on-a-pike" angry at whoever thought it was a good idea to discontinue it. Numerous sites based in the US and worldwide relied heavily upon Adobe Flash.
As for drawing, I have been meaning to use the workbooks I received in the mail. So far, I drew Winnie the Pooh smiling and Squidward Tentacles walking away angry as per usual. |

I bought the wrong sized pickets for my fence! I wanted 6' boards, but grabbed 5' boards not seeing the difference other than the boards I grabbed cost half as much. When I go to nail them up, then I saw the difference. the top fence stringer was more than 5' up! I either had to move the top stinger I just put up down, or find some 6' pickets.
So I re-used some of the old fence pickets that came down in the storm, if they weren't too rotten. I have three more panels to do, and I'm going to use the cheaper 5' pickets because half as much. Sure, they won't look as nice, but I don't care. Sorry about my neighbors sensibilities but I'm poor. |

Taking a shower and pulling out about 5-10 strands of hair while washing my hair.
Now take into account your family (the one you predominantly take after, which in this case, is my father's) has a history of balding men and women's hair thinning and I was screaming on the inside. |
Probably lost about 100+ strands of hair in the shower just today (if I'd collected everything together it would've been enough to make a small model of Cousin Itt, save for the hat and glasses), but that's nothing new - been losing a lot of hair for a while now, but it got significantly worse when I started my meds. At least its not showing. Still, stupid meds... I think they're affecting my mood lately, too. I'm constantly pissed off or feeling sad at trifles, but not quite sure why. I'm tired, my brain feels a bit wooly. Probably just another side effect. I hate side effects...

Someone hijacked my debit card.
I got an email for a transaction I didn't authorized on Amazon. (Surprised me because I don't remember it) Luckily, the transaction was declined Then came calling the bank to cancel my card, then they issued a new one that should arrive by next week at the latest and if it's not there by next Thursday, call back. I had to alert my father that I won't be able to pay my rent, utilities, and bills until the new card arrives and is activated. Worst part, since I have numerous accounts for numerous boutiques all over the Internet because they are exclusive to their sites, it means logging in to change the billing information. ARGGH! I play it safe online and in the real world with my card and yet I deal with someone who thinks sabotaging a future credit score is funny. His IQ must be lower than my supposed credit score, and it's probably -258 (Don't know the threshold of a credit score, never bothered asking.) Banking sucks, especially when disputing transactions. |

A whole lot of things at work.
And when I get home my laptop is endlessly slow - I suspect something's off after I did a backup last night. It's using 9 GB RAM and I find less than 1 GB of it on the system, wondering where the remaining 8 GB is being used (I haven't got a clue). - EDIT: Turned out this problem might have come from some stuck Windows updates or whatever it was. A forced update, restart and some tinkering later, and it's down again at 4-5 GB as per usual. Could still be a problem there, but at least it's less so). And then I do a bit of digging, and suddenly notice something it's taken me THIS long to notice - the SSD is installed as the D: Drive and not the C: drive, which means Windows and all the programs are on the HDD. No wonder things are starting to run slow! Sheesh, whoever did that install sure did a muckup! What's the point of the SSD if it's not the main Windows drive? o.O (it's a language issue - the full name for a SSD was almost identical to the name of a HDD in the defrag, plus I never noticed the mixup of the HDD/SDD in the task manager, which seem to be the only two places I could find any clear info without typing out the names of the discs, which I never thought to do because the laptop was supposed to come with a SSD as the main drive with Windows already installed) So I'm quite annoyed, and rightly so. |
I feel that society has changed in that if you don't hate the same things as others do, you're a social outcast. Come to think of it, it was the same way in the 1960s just that people hated different things and groups of people.

Today's complaint: Endless Bitching.
Today I'm complaining about endless complaining. What a time to be alive! First, the computer was used to pass ASCII images of playboy centerfolds that could be printed out on dot matrix ASCII printers. Now? We use the internet to complain about everything! Endless bitching about everything from Dr. Seuss to silly computer games. What a hardship we have! We bitch about everything on line and here I am bitching about bitching. It's the new fad! Oh, how horrible these times! Really? You should take a trip to the past. People of the 1950s were stoics by today's standards. And the very word! A female dog. It doesn't get more loyal, more friendly than a female dog. Forget to feed them, leave them out in the cold, yell at them for protecting the house and they still give you dog kisses and love! Why did the world for a female dog come to mean endless complaining?! How could this happen! A female dog is the exact opposite of this current fad. |
Bedbugs. Or... one bedbug.
(No, you can not play on my computer. Go have a swim in the toilet instead!) So tired of the isopods - they are everywhere! ![]() Also, the left side of my headphones suddenly blew out in the middle of a Youtube video yesterday. I guess they've been through a lot, but it's not like something suddenly happened to the cord or plug or anything. One moment it worked, the other it didn't. Good thing I had a new pair in reserve (mostly because the ear pieces on the old ones have seen so much use they looked like they'd been chewed-up - I've had them covered in plastic for a while so there won't be a trail of little black dots everywhere. I also have a bad habit of chewing on headphone cords, which I'm trying to stop because I've ruined so many headphones that way... I've been waiting for them to throw in the towel at some point, I guess now was the time). The new ones actually fit me better, so it's not too bad, I guess. |
It didn't ruin my day or anything, it just made me feel miffed.
Ever been told by some random internet denizens that you can't possibly have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder because you don't fit their idea of how the typical OCD-afflicted person behaves/thinks? I was diagnosed well over a decade ago, yet people still think I'm "trolling" them because the details I get fixated on are not the same things that they do. Just... What the heck? I don't make "help" posts on the internet just for the sake of "trolling" people. ![]() |
Another isopod in my bed. Those guys are so annoying!
![]() At least they're slower than spiders... Spiders - you see 'em, turn away for half a second to get something to grab 'em, and they're *poof* gone. Isopods - you see 'em, turn away for up to fifteen seconds, they're still chugging along in roughly the same half meter or so from where you last saw them. |
I hate my NVQ I'm currently doing. As far as I'm concerned it's beneath me, but the government decided we all have to have one so I can continue doing the job I've been doing for 5 years. Literally I get 1 hour a day to myself and usually I like to do cardio during that. But. Nah. Gonna write a whole essay on how to wash my hands. Awesome.
Also they want me to show them proof of my GCSEs (high school education) or I'll have to redo them. I have a Masters degree. This is not adequate proof. This will further prolong my NVQ by several months. |
I just now typed a whole thing ranting about a family member, but deleted it.
Even though we have nothing in common and I sometimes don't see the point of us being friends (we are too different), I know that we're not going to just stop being friends just because I'm upset right now. I guess it's for the best - I literally have no other friends. I could make some, but I'm very choosey, so I guess it's good I have someone like this family member, because goodness knows I don't feel a kindred connection with hardly ANYONE anymore, so I guess this one family member is all I got, even if she doesn't understand me (which makes no sense because I have opened up to her in the most vulnerable way between two friends, but whatever). I miss some friends I've had in the past - even had a dream about one from TEN YEARS ago that tore me up so much I BAWLED the next morning (I still remember it, too). But that was ten years ago, which is ridiculous to be that upset by (over an imaginary figment of my imagination). Normally, I'm very happy with my life (overall I am), but I will admit that, out of all the peers around me, I am VERY much the minority among them. And I admit - I don't fit in. At all. I'm fine with that, but it means I'm lonely in this regard as I have no one with who can truly understand certain things I am going through, but I guess that is life. Everyone's got something that they'll find it hard to relate to the majority on, I'm sure (at least, a lot of people). I miss having mutual friends with similarities. |

They were from a litter of nine, but only three survived. Their one brother was adopted instantly, and I can only assume that was because, outwardly, he was "perfect." You see, all three of them have herpes, but the brother and sister that I adopted were hit a bit harder. The boy is missing an eye, the girl is blind, and they both had what the vet called "failure to thrive". They were much smaller than they should have been for their age, and were incredibly skinny. They needed interaction and attention--they needed love. So even if you end up being the one to care for these bunnies, do not be afraid to lavish attention on them. They are young enough that they can still turn into proper wild rabbits in the future, but they sound like they are at a critical point. Keep them warm, stroke their ears, and talk to them. The internet in the building I live in cut off randomly at like 11:30, which wass during the 5 min break my class had. Anyways, I had to use my fairly limited mobile data to listen to the second half of the lesson. Problem is, signal seems to be really dodgy in this city especially when indoors, so like 4g comes and goes as does regular phone signal. Its really annoying. This pretty much meant that I couldn't attend several meetings that I really needed to attend because group projects are magical like that because I needed to save my data. The good news is that I finally have wifi again, but its 21:40 though I cant tlel how long its been back for because I tried to connect my phonle like 20 mins ago and that wasnt posisble.
Am hoping it doesnt disappear ever again because I have a lot of things to do and I legit cant do any of these things without a reliable internet connection. |
Some people say they're 'paying for going out last night' because they have a hangover.
I'm thinking it this morning for a different reason, as I woke up with a red, scaly, itchy neck and red, swollen eyelids - because I dared to wear a necklace for 3 hours. It's not just metal either, it will do this with plastic or cord necklaces too! My skin (especially my neck) has become progressively more oversensitive and fussy the older I have got, and will break out into an allergic reaction at the slightest thing, it drives me nuts! I'm 'on the list' for an appointment with a specialist, but my GP has changed my antihistamine to one which is supposed to help with the itching (it doesn't), but now spring is here I've started sneezing all the time, despite barely leaving the house, so I think I'll have to go back to the old one just for my hayfever. I don't want to bother the doctors at the moment as they must be busy with coronavirus, but the itching is driving me mad and making me really miserable, I'd rather be in pain. |

Not just my day, but the past 3-4 months. I think I've confirmed Windows Update is the core of my random RAM and harddrive issues (and possibly a stupid driver I have no idea how to update because stupid Windows Update can't find the correct one, and the stupid Windows archive has 500 pages with almost identical names to go through, and even the current one I have probably has 5-6 almost identical versions. How the %&# do I find the correct one in that mess
![]() Anyway, I've spent almost every day the past few months trying to update to get past whatever issue Windows Update is having, but it gets to some percentage and just "nope, error code", possibly because of that one driver issue - which is for a function I no longer use because I had issues with it not always working properly, so I stopped using it over a year ago. My laptop is slowed down by it all, to the point where I can barely use a browser when the lagging is at its worst. Never had these issues with Win7 (it updated whenever the heck it wanted, and to heck with any borked drivers or other issues - nothing stands in the way of updates! Windows 10 updates, manages to bork a driver in the process - which is probably what happened, because I don't think I touched that thing - then never wants to update ever again ![]() So now the update programs constantly use (at least) 3 GB RAM on my computer, run my harddrive at 50-100% whenever they're doing anything at all (looking for updates, trying to update, idling, etc.), probably using a few extra % of the processor too, and slowing everything to snail speed every so often, crashing Explorer or whatever I'm doing if I don't stop and wait for it to think for a while. *Sigh* Guess I have to figure out if that driver is the solution - never had to figure out other drivers than graphic ones before, so I'm curious if I'll have any luck with that (but first, a backup...) |

Every cleaning article/video on the internet ever:
"You just need some things you probably have in your cupboard, baking soda, white vinegar, soda crystals, soap flakes...........other obscure old fashioned stuff.............." Me (woman in my 40s): "It's 2021, not 1921 - things I have in my cleaning cupboard include bleach, brand name bathroom spray, brand name kitchen spray, brand name floor cleaner, flushable toilet wipes, cistern blocks, flushable toilet bowl cleaner blocks, antibacterial wipes, brand name window cleaner, washing up liquid, brand name mould remover, washing pods (non-biological), brand name oven cleaner, brand name degreaser................literally nothing you apparently expect everyone to have." I don't mind going on Ebay to buy stuff, but come on, at least be realistic - no-one has any of that stuff in their cupboards anymore. |
^ I don't think we've had any vinegar (of any kind) in the house for several years, and we only have baking powder for -you guessed it- baking. Maybe there's some old baking soda somewhere, but in the small bags we get them I don't think it was ever intended for cleaning. Haven't ever used soda crystals and soap flakes (dunno if it's even possible to buy it). Are you sure those are 2021 cleaning hacks?
White vinegar and baking soda (plus lemon juice, I think?) are supposed to be good supplies for (some types of) cleaning. Microfiber (dry or with water depending on surface), too. No idea how well they work, though. ---- My brother messed with the internet/TV signal box, and suddenly one of the TV boxes didn't work. Turned out he'd switched around the plugs - but I still don't know how one TV worked fine but the other one completely lost signal. I swear, every time he touches that box, something goes wrong ![]() ![]() |
"Soda crystals" is perhaps not the same as baking soda, I'd say. If they mean baking soda, they should say baking soda, or it just gets confusing
![]() --- Baking powder contains baking soda, a dry acid, and one or two other ingredients. It mainly needs liquid to work. Baking soda can be used for baking but you need to add the acid (and liquid) to activate it, so if you bake with something acidic and find you're out of baking powder but have baking soda, you can use that instead (but half amount, so 1 tsp of baking powder = 1/2 tsp baking soda). My gran often used baking soda when cooking. She even used to make some griddle cakes named after baking soda (what the powder is called here, anyway). Those cakes were delicioius! |
The biggest collection of random cleaning stuff in our house is shampoo (probably my fault - I've been through a few until I found some I could use). Other than that there's detergent and softener, dishwasher soap, dish soap, hand soap, whatever else is in the shower cabinet, and maybe a couple other things. We don't use sprays (probably for the best - some of them have been shown to cause airway problems, so good thing we've steered clear of those). Mostly it's just water for daily cleaning of surfaces, perhaps a bit of dish soap if there's some stubborn spots or for extra clean surfaces.
Tried baking powder (didn't have soda) for cleaning out pots, but honestly, the only "hack" that really works for dirty kitchen items is to soak it in warm water and dish soap (or some of a dishwashing tablet or powder for really stubborn stuff) and letting it seep for a while. Tried the microwave trick with a lemon and water once, but it didn't even budge on the stubborn spots in that particular microwave (probably works if the spots are relatively new, though - guessing that's what they use for the hack videos...). I prefer scent-free or mild scents, either lemon/orange or berries, and can tolerate some very mild flower scents, but not too over-powering. Had some issues with one of my water bottles stinking even if it had just been washed, so I thought I'd soak it in some dishwash soap and water, but didn't take into account we'd bought a different scent (a strong flower scent). The bottle ended up stinking even worse, and the water almost tasted of the soap. Had to run it through the dishwasher again just to get rid of the smell. We're not using that scent again (back to the regular lemon scent we go...) |

Windows 10 and it's stupidity. Turning the computer off is apparently not enough any more, because instead of properly turning everything off, it goes into kind-of-hibernating-but-not-quite because of fast startup. Restarting is needed to get that thing fit for fight (or shift-shutdown when you want to properly shut everything down in place of a restart). I mean - why does everything have to be so annoying with this OS?
![]() So that explains why everything worked fine after the restart when my antivirus updated, and why problems have been building up like crazy. Still doesn't explain the updating issues, though ![]() |

Former is strong stuff (ph 11) and should never be confused with baking soda. Never use this stuff for cooking instead of baking soda ![]() So use baking soda for mild cleaning and soda crystals for heavy cleaning (use gloves). So you could use soda crystals for your pots. |
Yeah, it is very confusing - I hadn't even heard of soda crystals. Had to look it up, and there is something called that, but I don't think I've seen it (or not been aware of it, at least). Anyway, English as a second language sometimes complicates things...
I know the difference between baking soda/baking powder when it comes to baking, and there are a few cleaning hacks for baking soda (baking powder just makes a mess due to the other ingredients). Pretty sure soda crystals would be really bad for baking, though... ------------------------------ Anyway, over to today's annoyance. A power extension cord in our living room took its final breath and zapped the internet power cord, so no net for an evening and half a day. Then we got a replacement cord for a day, all fine and good, then the internet provider decides to change the entire box. My laptop is fine, our phones are fine, but mom's old laptop - big, fat, NOPE! Works on cord, but Wifi? Absolutely not! Been trying to get it to work most of the day but no luck. So we call them, try, call, try, etc. Then I leave mom to her own devices for maybe an hour or so while the techs are supposedly going to fix the problem from their end (no idea what they're doing, but so far nothing has helped). Then we call back, I start up her computer, and... (Big, fat, black/white/red warning after startup) ![]() ![]() MOOOOOOM??? WHAT THE *BLEEEEEP* HAVE YOU BEEN DOING??? ![]() Mom: "Me? Starting up the computer. Sees the AV needs a restart. Okay, hits the restart button, but computer is slow and for whatever reason the restart is buggy and when the computer starts back up the restart prompt is still there. Oookay? Hits the restart prompt again. I guess 3rd time is the charm (3rd time turning it on), because this time it works.
Computer is off to a bad start today I guess - but I have had to do restarts more often recently, and I tend to forget the shift-turn off, so I guess it probably was needed. Everything was slow the first time around. And only got worse from there. Stupid thing slowed down to a snail crawl at one point (the usual Windows update muck). I swear, these buggy Win10 updates are getting on my nerves. But for whatever reason the snailspeed issue suddenly cleared up when I was checking something in msconfig, even though I didn't actually do anything in there. I almost imagine the laptop muttering silently to itself "oh, she's considering restarting again, I better start working..." ![]() |
Due to the drinks I drink from cans, I'm considering buying a can crusher.
Because I drink flavored seltzer from the can and maybe caffeine free sodas from time to time, I may consider buying a can crusher because the recycling can is small and yet the same size as the garbage can. I may have to anyway. Aluminum is much better at being recycled numerous times without noticable degradation. |
@PANDAQUEEN Isn't there a can collecty thing at the supermarket near you? Where you get some money back for returning the cans? Or maybe a bin in your neighbourhood for collecting metal?
Had a bad hair day, no matter how I tied up my hair it was awful. Ended up wearing cap |
@Noa1500, I live in a community that recycles, but they don't pay you for it. A truck normally comes around on Thursdays every couple of weeks to take it to the recycling center.
If anything, it's more to maximize space in the recycling can as it gets sorted at the recycling center because the recycle bin holds the standard paper, metal, plastic and glass. |

No?). In case you don't know, if you use these machines, you're not supposed to crush the cans or tear off the label of the bottles (or otherwise damage them), because then the machines can't read the label and can't sort them properly (QI had a reminder about cans in their "Rubbish" episode not long ago, along with a bunch of other more or less interesting things about rubbish, trash and recycling). There's (finally) a glass and metal return system in my area. We had a return system for those, but not one that picked up a bin (or some places did, I don't know?), so it was a bit "eh, don't care". We also have plastic return now, although that one is a bit iffy because you're supposed to clean out everything and take off labels, and *sigh* - I guess if it's easy and clean already it goes in there, and if not it goes in the "everything else" bin. There's also a lot of trash recycling going on apart from bins that get emptied, but people are varying degrees of interested, from all-in to "meh" (My family is somewhere in the middle, I guess - not stressing too much to get it perfect, but sorting when relatively easy and possible). But for the love of sanity could people use bins and not throw stuff on the streets - come on, it's not that hard! We've got bins all around, but people keep "missing" them ![]() |

3 spiders, at least 3 isopods, a moth, 3+ flies, a bumblebee, a wasp/fly/whateveritwasbutitwashuge, and some icky creepy crawlie I don't know the name of in the span of 1-2 days.
I hate this time of year. Can't even have the windows open, because the creepy crawlies and winged annoyances think they own the house... A few of them did survive, though (the ones near enough a window to either on their own or with a little bit of guidance find their way back out. The rest... not so lucky. There's absolutely no mercy if I find them near or in my bedroom, because that's NOT a hangout spot for creepy crawlies, even though some of them seem to think it is ![]() |
Who's the damned idiot who thought celebrating with noisy explosives well into the night was a good idea?
It's 3 minutes to midnight and I have to go shopping for supplies, groceries and then to the bank tomorrow and my circadian rhythm is wrekt! |
Bought a really nice shirt today but I need to return it now that I've tried it on again at home. The stitching on the inside is really rough so wearing it on its own is uncomfortable which I hadn't noticed at the shop cos I had longsleeves on. Anyway, I checked the label and found out where it was made, and that turned out to be unacceptable. It's definitely not socially responsible so it really has to go back. Its not about "oh let's be socially responsible, csr is so amazing." Its about knowing that certain industries in certain countries are pretty much human rights violations. That's not ok.

A posted a photo of my cute 20 week bump on facebook and someone commented "Wow so big, maybe you'll find out it's twins"
...What is a nice way of saying "I've had 4 f****** scans, it ain't twins!" Why do people think it's appropriate to say stuff like that ![]() |

In spades to that. There was a group of feral cats for years, I have a bird sanctuary yard and would chase them off. Then found out about "trap and release"; with the help of that group I trapped those 5 cats, had them fixed (for free) and returned them. Was told that would keep other strays from moving in. NOT. And for the last 2 years they have killed every lizard, many birds, and TRIED to catch the squirrels. I like cats, but not THOSE cats! ![]() |

Thank you. I usually don't care that much about other peoples opinions, it just hits differently when it's about my pregnancy. I'm not the crop-top wearing 21 year old I was 5 years ago. Didn't really "ruin my day" (I actually thought it was hilarious) but today someone posted a meme on Facebook saying "Taking weekly covid tests when not showing symptoms is like going to the cemetery to check if you're dead", I tagged my sister in the post and commented "Saw this meme while taking my twice weekly covid test lol", and the woman who posted it screenshot my profile pic (which doesn't even show half of my face) and sent it to me with the caption "Ugly". She then proceeded to tell me she hopes I die from the vaccine (I'm actually not vaccinated against covid), hopes my child dies, that I'm a loser and scum of the earth. Erm... sorry I take 2 mandatory covid tests per week so I can continue showing up to my job?? Lmao. She quickly deleted all her messages when I sent a laughing emoji followed by "I'm screen shotting this. Its 11pm babes wtf you doing" ![]() |
Day...I give up.
I have been quietly protesting to my father about fixing the showerhead because of how short I am. He told me he'll look into finding a pipe to extend the showerhead closer to my height. Also on the Do-For list: hang up my blacklight and investigate how much it will cost to fix my fried hair. |
First the old internet box gives up (or one of the components, anyway - the box still worked, but apparently it was "outdated"), so it was replaced. Then mom's ancient laptop can't handle the new wifi network, so we had to get one of those USB wifi thingies to plug into it. Then one TV box fails and refuses to show any channels, and a couple days later the other box decides, "oh what the *%# I'll join the team of outdated junk that needs upgrading just to get it out of the way".
![]() At least the new boxes "included everything needed" - even batteries for the remote controls and every single cable mentioned in the handbook (I was absolutely sure we'd have to buy at least one of them) ![]() Had some issues with the internet setup (why does one cable NOT work, but the other cable work, even though it's in principle the exact same cable and the old one worked for the old box? I have no idea... ![]() And now we needs to be veeeewy veeeevy careful to not upset the oldest TV, because the remote control disappeared a long time ago in an apartment far, far away (unless it's in a moving box somewhere), and I spent probably ten minutes messing with the side buttons (which is 99% guesswork) to find the one single blasted channel button that would show the correct signal from the box. Also, the screen keeps flickering, but that could be just the age of the TV or some such - maybe it doesn't like the new box... ![]() |
I hate my stupid country sometimes, today is one of those days.
Someone I love just died. So people acting like pathetic babies because some overpaid athletes lost a stupid football game is really pissing me off. |
Bipolar and my struggle with it is the very definition of insanity. I dive headlong into giant projects and then peter out or I buy numerous items that I only need one of and not only is it insanity for me, but my mother suffers through it (I inherited this issue from my father so she suffers from an outside perspective)
Not to mention the way my father and I see ourselves is like looking into 3 mirrors, each displaying the polar opposites and the baseline. The ups and downs lately are just driving me crazy! My bedroom is extremely cold for July...at least the mollies and screws for my black light have been bought. Now all I need to do is dig out the blacklight. |
ARGH!
I've been deprived of sleep for 48 hours! WHO NEEDS SLEEP? I DON'T NEED SLEEP! I AM THE WALKING LIVING! (this sums up having to wear a heavy sweat jacket and my dreaded black stretch yoga pants from Old Navy when I was a teenager. They still fit is the bigger mystery in my rage and anxiety to go to sleep but my father cranked the AC extremely high that I will have to sleep on the couch while my cat peels out like a bat out of hell.) |
Company I work for sends out letter saying everyone has to have the covid vaccine by Autumn or lose job. My midwife suggested that it benefits the baby most in the third trimester so that's when I was gonna get the vaccine.
Ask my manager about it because I dunno what "vaccinated by autumn" really means and whether I can keep with my original plan. She has no idea about it. Sends me to someone else. That someone else tells me the vaccine is safe in pregnancy (I know, thats why I want to get it. In my third trimester) and sends me to someone else if I have more questions. Someone else #3 sends me on to someone else #4. I have a stress headache! At least person #4 had the answer! |
Well, I saw the gastroenterologist and she said my endocrinologist, Dr. VB is leaving the health center so that meant choosing a new one. I chose a woman, Dr. M-LaM and I have an appointment with her near my 34th birthday.
Not one of my brightest days. |

I try to stay strong, but I eventually break down and have a good cry. ![]() Then I feel better. ![]() Came back from my pre-op clearance and they need me to see a cardiologist. I only have one day left before the operation of reconstructive oral surgery and if I get in, they may on the likelihood cancel my operation. Thanks, that's really kind, and good advice, need to let it out sometimes. I always thought this song was sad, but now I'm crying along with a bacardi https://youtu.be/aa0KlmW2X28 Oh well. Good luck for your operation, I hope you get to have it (after all the build up, it's a relief to get it out fo the way). Fingers crossed everything goes well x |

I need to pick up some bread, butter and a gift for my going through with the operation (I was supposed to have it at the end of May, but I had that emergency hospital visit from Hell: screaming IV monitor, annoying drama queen roommate and a 36 hour medicine withdrawal. Made enough of a fuss to leave after 48 hours.) |
Today was a shocker.
Turned out my aunt Fran has a set of dentures for the top of her mouth. I screamed out of shock. My mother told me she has bad teeth as well. Well, does anyone know how to earn $60,000 for implants? Because I find dentures too much maintenance, even if I brush with extreme prejudice. |
Sometimes I I really wish I was male - sex always makes me falll in love and I can't imagine it from the other side - are you just all robots?

Trust me, crushing on numerous men in the the STEAM careers is, for me, just another way to escape when I get overwhelmed. I'm currently caring for my father who is laid up with a new knee. |
Found a moth (or some kind of black, furry insect with wings) in my freshly washed waterbottle - and I'd already drunk some before I noticed (EWWWW!), which means the bottle has to be washed again (ain't drinking any more from that one before it's clean again). That thing most likely was there half the day, because there's no other way it could've gotten into a sealed bottle than while it was drying on a towel for a bit before I filled it up. I have no idea how I didn't spot the thing sooner, though
![]() These little critters are getting on my nerves... Anyone wonders why I don't like summer? This (along with heat) is the main reason. Can't stand the tiny critters. They are E V E R Y W H E R E! |

Just very sore from helping out around the house. Especially since I have my father's knee to care for, to which he took a picture of his freshly unbandaged scar and bruising and said "One for the album..."
My mother sent me a conflicting set of text messages that didn't line up with the ones my father received about tonight's plans. I had given her my money I earned for the small favors and she said I would have the money deposited in her bank (we used different banks due to an issue. I can't change banks due to the red tape from the government, but that's entirely different.) and she would write a check for me that I would deposit via my bank app on my phone. However, my father was told a different story. So, I have to wait this out until my mother texts back on her afternoon break. Edit: my mother eventually got the money and frozen desserts accounted for. I just need to have a check written out. |
You haven't yet confessed your feelings to your crush and then suddenly another person enters the picture. Made the situation 101% even harder..

When your circadian rhythm is wrekt over a PTSD episode and your next therapy appointment is at the end of the next month.
At least the outreach network caught me at dinner time to talk during the twice a week talks. |
Tried to talk to my boss all day because according to my midwife I should be on medical suspension. It took all day to get hold of her, finally did after the shift (I wasn't suppose to be there for) ended. She didn't have any answers. She didn't look through the guidelines I printed out from the Gov website and Maternity Action website. She wants me to come in on Thursday to talk. I feel like she's going to try to convince me my midwife is wrong. I have such bad anxiety its so hard to talk to her, I usually just give in to try and leave ASAP, but I am literally a heavily pregnant asthmatic who isn't yet vaccinated, working in a red-zone care home during a pandemic in an area with increasing cases.
![]() ![]() Times like this I wish my anti-anxiety were safe during pregnancy. |
@Bigsimsfan12 Visit your GP and see if you can get signed off for the anxiety, and then ask your boss to sort this out over the phone with you. Protecting yourself and baby is #1 priority!

Our dinner was interrupted by the Emergency Alert System (EAS) every 3-5 minutes and my family had to stay in the basement for a few minutes when the wind picked up.
This is the remnants of Hurricane Ida. EDIT: Internet got knocked out. Using cellular service. About 10 people died in my area due to disobedience to the instructions. |
Doctors said I had something called "metabolic syndrome"
My waistline should be 35" and well...it's not. I'm wide around as I am tall (63"). I have two measuring tapes, one of which maxes out at 120". So they took me off some pills and replaced it with a different one that should reverse the stubborn weight issue and for once, make it go down. |
Spent today taking naps and crying. Had to work on technical difficulties on my computer but I failed to get the desired effect. Didn't cry over that, but it was a blow to my ego and my father's pride as tech support technician.

The pattern of bad connections concerning a new medicine. Apparently, 2 doctors I have no prior familiarity with are holding up a medicine I need to control depression and the issues with weight that goes with depression.
I am practically starved of sleep and I ran out of one of my pills. My family's doctor, DB is working in conjunction with all my doctors. She's like gone full-on Dr. Gregory House mode. Weirdest thing she told me last time I saw her was she has 2 pet pigs. I warned her that pigs are smarter than they let on. (I neglected to mention how food-oriented they are in learning behaviors and tricks) Edit: it's 3:15 in the morning and I am laughing at a crudely animated pigeon throw a temper tantrum, wanting to drive a transit bus while an audience of 2nd graders scream "NO" as per the directions of the bus driver. |
Just had received a blood order to give blood for a test from my cardiologist. Just saw him. Nice guy, but he's too animated than I can tolerate and there's a reason you shouldn't feed me caffeine after a certain point in the day.
|
I am changing my anti depressant medications ,I am so bad tonight, I feel the craving, not severe but I got two side effects.
|
Yes. Put the heavily pregnant employee in the windowless room with no seating, air circulation, close by bathroom facilities or air conditioning (or even just a fan) for 12 hours per day. Great idea.
|
Stupid kids in their pre/early teens and their extremely annoying way of being. Can't even let someone sit in some quiet and peace waiting for the bus. Just have to nag and ask stupid-arse questions. When I'm tired from work, I don't have enough brainpower left over to deal with that kind of brats. If you're not waiting for the bus, please go elsewhere to look for some common decency, and leave me the %&$# alone

Lousy drive on the way home!
My mother almost dinged a smart car. She and I joke that there are clowns in the car and we almost sent the clowns flying. Smart car, dumb driver. People backing out, speeding by, you name the asshole infraction, it happened, okay? Good. Only good takeaway from the day was I picked out my birthday gift as my mom is clueless about the dolls on my dresser (I rarely let people in my room unless I am having a really awful time). It was a rare doll. |

Amazon charges postage for each item these days, and their packaging ends up looking like it's been dropped from a plane - so I've decided to order the books I can order from someplace else instead. At least that company has free postage over a certain amount, doesn't reuse the same cardboard for the 10th time (I swear that's gotta be why Amazon's packaging is so flimsy), and the tape doesn't literally fall apart in the seams...
Nevermind they might be a bit cheaper - I want my stuff delivered safely to me this time, and not in the "just barely in one piece" way I got them the last 2-3 times. The rest of the gifts (not much, just for close family) I can get in shops close by. ------------------ Anyway, what kind of ruined my day (and will probably be ruining several days forward) is mom's new hand soap. It smells like old lady's perfume (the kind of really heavy smell that hangs in the air for at least a couple hours after the old lady has left the room). I had to air out the bathroom for half an hour before I could go in there. Turns out when I looked at the back of the thing it has several probable allergens plus a bunch of perfume in it. No wonder that smell stays for days! Ugh! ![]() ![]() No, absolutely can't throw it away because it was a gift - I mean... I'm almost hoping someone gets a skin reaction from that concoction so we have a good reason to chuck it out ![]() Until then, I'll stick to my regular perfume-free soap for sensitive skin, thank you very much... It has probably less than 1/4 of the ingredients and none of the smell) |
Everyone in the house is ill. We're always ill. Really we need a week or two to relax and finally kick the plague that has been attacking our house for the last month, but neither of us can afford to be off work that long. So we're both struggling along either working long shifts or looking after a sick toddler on our own while also being ill.
Called 111 last night because Ivy was screaming in pain for hours. She keeps asking for the toilet but when we take her she says "wheres the wee gone?", so probably a bladder infection, on top of the chest infection, sinus infection/flu and conjunctivitis. 111 arranged a doctors appointment at 2am. Doctor was useless, told us to give her paracetamol. We explain she spits it out. "Put it in yogurt!". We have tried. "Custard?". Still nope, we have literally mixed it into everything we can think of. "Only other thing I can suggest is suppositories". Can you prescribe some suppositories? "No, you'll have to arrange another appointment". We all end up sleeping from about 6am-10am. Called up the doctors first thing "sorry no appointments. You should have called at 8am" "can you just write a prescription, she had an appointment at 2am" "No". Ugh. |
Also, effing spiders! Not talking "itsy bitsy" ones, but those with roughly 6-8 cm leg-span. Been catching at least a couple every week. Eww! For some reason if they manage to run away, they tend to show up in my bedroom (get away you creeps!)
At least it's not the 10-12++ cm ones. Had a few of those running around the house a couple years back. One crawled around on the wall, and another found a "home" in the kitchen sink. I'm just glad I don't live in Australia, or anywhere else where these things can be dangerous... ![]() |
Lost my voice. I hate when I'm getting better and then wake up the next day waaaaay worse. Everything hurts. And at some point I need to shower and look at least mildly presentable because I have to go into work to sort some paperwork.
|
Sorry for the lateness of my replies.
I currently have been preparing for my 34th birthday party. We have been very busy. Sushi rice, rice vinegar, sugar, veggies, eggs, wasabi, soy sauce, nori and caffeine-free cola have been on the list. |
Well dang, my post count just dropped by 1,000 or so...
