I'm not a doctor nor do I pretend to be one, but I think my mother had a stroke.

It has been a few weeks since mother and I last spoke. I called to check in yesterday, it was pulling teeth trying to find out what was going on. My mother and I have a good relationship. The only time I have to poke at her for information is when she's trying to 'protect me' from something. In this case, she doesn't want me losing sleep over her not feeling well. I digress.

She brought up that she was having issues with numbness and tingling. I asked how long has this been going on for; she told me a month. I won't go through all the questions and answers, but basically all stuff is happening on one side of her body. She has been to the doctors twice. The first doctor told her to stop sleeping on her right side. She went again yesterday; they put her on medication. Next up is a MRI although I don't know when.

2023 needs to fuck.off.

I did in fact survive the cousin's (and his kids) invasion and while it was nice to catch up with the cousin, it was decidely not pleasant hosting those awful children. I know I was contrary as a child, but not like that man! Those children were actual beasts! The parentals 100% regretted letting them stay over instead of shoving them off to a hotel or airbnb. So guess who's probably not allowed back anytime soon

A more recent ugh is that I got some actual good news today but its ruining all my carefully scheduled plans I was so proud of organising it all and now it's not gonna happen. Glad I can get my money back from cancelling my bookings, but still! Clearly, I still need to learn when to shut up sometimes. Anyway, what's the opposite of skyrocket? Cos my mood did that but like in the opposite direction.

simmer22 11th Aug 2023 5:52 PM

3-hour exhausting shopping trip (groceries, etc., nothing that's the least bit exciting), and when I get home there's a small spider in a wall crack playing peekaboo (already tried vacuuming it up twice, it's not budging).

Noa1500 12th Aug 2023 9:27 PM

Me and my friend were suspected to be loitering teens (lol) at a department store so we went to the watch section and asked if replacement straps for my friend's watch were still sold there. The answer was yes when the borrowed her watch, and after that they elft us alone.

Technical problems at a different store happened. After paying at a self service machine the machine was like no you didn't, so no receipt. I know I paid cos both the pin machine and my phone said so. I asked an employee and while waiting other customers started having the same problem. 10 ish minutes later everyone got a proper receipt except me. I got some other kind that I got only shows the store, machine, date/time, and total but no barcode so no returns possible. Good thing my items were not things i'd need to return.

PANDAQUEEN 15th Aug 2023 1:56 PM

Worn out and the power was out for about 80 minutes in the middle of the night. I was working on flags for my island's subregions when it happened.

My parents asked me a week ago what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday and I wanted to try a cotton candy cake-like dessert I saw online.

This week, they asked me about what I wanted for a gift and they joked "Real estate" because I had been in talks about creating a micronation.

Maybe if they ask about dinner, I would say "tamagoyaki-zushi" (sweet omelette sushi) because last year, they forgot to make it with my annual sushi platter.

It usually costs $100+ to make at a store. But being that it's labor that is for the cost, my father makes it for about $25 in the long run, but he doesn't charge me as I don't have money until Sundays, my new paydays.

Bigsimsfan12 15th Aug 2023 4:25 PM

I'm just tired of the constant grind. Of seeing my husband briefly. He works 5 days, I work the other 2. By the time he gets home its late and we make dinner and then the kids bedtime routine, and because the older one is on summer break it's caused our routine to break down so bedtime is lasting HOURS. We start at 9 (which I know is late but thats a whole other can of worms) but they're both still awake at 11 and then I'm waking up at 2am realising I've fallen asleep in her bed before sneaking off to mine. Even before school holidays, she was still fighting bedtime until 10 and I barely saw my husband. The baby is going through that needs-a-nap-but-not stage, which is KILLING us. He fights a nap for hours, because he's still tired, but if he does nap then he's gonna be awake until 2am. But if he doesn't nap, he falls asleep around 7pm and then treats it as a nap and is awake by 10pm until 2am anyway. Basically there is no winning. I'm tired. Nothing works. Everything sucks. I feel like I'm at breaking point. Husband has some annual leave booked for the end of this month, so we can finally sort the house out because I can only clean so much. We need carpets, and wallpaper, and we've decided to ditch the livingroom carpet and get laminate instead, because it's just so damaged from the previous owners if I walk over it in cleans socks, they turn brown and smell, no matter how much carpet cleaner we use. But the only problem with doing up the house on his time off is that its MORE work to be doing, rather than spending time together. I'm gonna get saddled with the kids while he gets everything done. Ugh I'm tired.

simmer22 15th Aug 2023 7:48 PM

Yesterday was a bit of a good/bad situation.

Bad: Barely slept and had to get up early
Good: Waffles for breakfast
Bad: First day of work after my vacation
Good: Good colleagues at work (a lot of the ones I enjoy working with)
Bad: My back hurt really bad well before lunchtime
Good: Waffles for lunch
Bad: A wasp breaking up the good mood at lunch
Good: They had cotton candy grapes at the store (those are amazing!)
Bad: Was tired most of the day
Good: several days off before going back to work
Bad: Well, of course my boss snuck a meeting into one of my days off (half expected it)

PANDAQUEEN 20th Aug 2023 8:38 AM

I woke up, got dressed and saw there was chocolate chip brioche bread. Absolutely hate chocolate chips in my bread.

Picking them out won't help. It's already contaminated.

🤬

Instantly, my Sunday was going to be a shit day.

Bigsimsfan12 21st Aug 2023 5:03 PM

An important legal document for my husband went to my old address so I had to contact the landlord and she's being... her usual self. Clearly the past 3 months haven't been kind to her.

She won't let husband pick it up
She won't pass it on to a neighbour
We gave her a forwarding address she can give our mail too, but this isn't our address. So she won't. She said she will only send it to our address we live at. So thats a fun battle.

Honestly thought once I moved out I wouldn't have to deal with her again, but she's finding excuse after excuse.

simmer22 22nd Aug 2023 4:17 PM

Mom is in "Want to clean / throw away things" mode. She's also in "disturb *me*" mode. She's been in those modes the past couple hours.

I'm not in the first mode, not the least bit. I'd also rather not be disturbed every 2 minutes.

Go figure

PANDAQUEEN 23rd Aug 2023 11:49 PM

The fact I am on thin ice with my parents over housekeeping. I have been given one last chance to get the house cleaned up before they return from work tomorrow. (They have been off since Sunday and normally, my mom is at work on Wednesday and dad is at work on Tuesday, but we came down with flu like symptoms that slowed us down.)

Update 8/24/2023:
I finished all of today's chores before my parents are even done with their day. I get to relax.

simmer22 25th Aug 2023 9:14 PM

Windows.

Use understandable language, for goodness sake! Trying to edit some settings, and the activate/deactivate settings apparently need a University degree in English. Or maybe they're done like this to confuse people.

"Activate/Allow setting OR Deactivate setting" - You want to turn it off, needs to be set to "deactivated" to be deactivated. OK so far.
"Deactivate/do not allow/stop setting" - You want to turn it off, but it needs to be set to "activated" to be deactivated.
"Activate/allow setting" - you want to turn it off, and most likely it needs to be set to "activated" to be deactivated, but the description is really vague, and suddenly the thing you tried to deactivate is activated, even though it wasn't before.
... and so on.
I have to read the text for every single item to understand what they're trying to say, and even then I'm confused.

What happened to
"Activate setting" sentence = choose between activate OR deactivated mode?

Also by chance found OneDrive's "Save Documents on OneDrive as Standard" setting, which I turned off, just as a precaution. That one is okay, but the others on the list are the "I'm not entirely sure what they mean" kind, so I think I'll just leave those alone...

topp 26th Aug 2023 11:38 PM

Is it by any chance services.msc?

simmer22 27th Aug 2023 12:28 AM

Nah, it's another (but sincerely, how many places do they need to put things to run them on a computer?)
Pretty much everything Windows is like this. I'm absolutely sure they do it to confuse people...

Noa1500 1st Sep 2023 10:53 PM

Found out a thing about a thing and its gonna be maximum effort so it's super ugh cos like does it really have to??? Can it just like not? It's totally a first world problem and and complaining is a necessity or else I wouldn't be me

simmer22 4th Sep 2023 4:54 AM

It's definitely spider season again. Had one crawling silently on the wall just a couple or so hours ago, so stealthily I only saw a grey blur slowly moving on the wall, out of the corner of my eye.

Then, just now, I saw something greyish stealthily try to hide under my duvet. Barely caught a glimpse of it. At the moment it's trapped under an upturned tea plate, until I've decided what to do with the rascal.

Both were (legs included) about the size of the palm of my hand (without fingers). At least the big ones don't move as fast as the small ones - they're easier to capture...

Turns out there was a third and (a bit later) a fourth spider in the bathroom, too (but those weren't my problem).

EDIT: Past couple of days it feels like I'm seeing movement out of the corners of my eyes all the time. Stupid spiders...

Bigsimsfan12 4th Sep 2023 8:51 PM

Ugh. Ex-landlord issues.

So the police wanted to charge her with theft and mail tampering, but she's now claiming she never got it, and because it can't be proven - sadly she can't be charged. They have still put it down in their system, because they say while they can't prove it, they're pretty sure she has it, also lmao she was apparently very uncooperative, screamed down the phone at the police and told them they didn't know how to do their job... so. Kinda funny. But also I'm scared because it's my husband's DBS (I dunno what that is in American, but basically it shows if he has a criminal record that would stop him working with vulnerable people) so he desperately needs it and I doubt his job is going to wait much longer for it.

PANDAQUEEN 5th Sep 2023 8:18 AM

I received a set of 5 25mm 10-Disc Blu-Ray cases to put my backups in.

Two discs go in one case, that case disappeared, next I'm swearing a blue streak and screaming like Shan-Yu in Mulan whenever he realized he lost when I tried to look in my room, which not even pigs would touch my disheveled swirling vortex of entropy.

I ended up making a second set of backups (I only had 2 discs) and kept the remaining 4 cases close by in a combination locked box.

I was screaming because I don't really have much money to work with each week after I do housekeeping and dental hygiene procedures with an autobrush as recommended for my problem with standard toothbrushes and their electric counterparts were uncomfortable.

The scream was mostly because it cost me my allowance to organize the backups with Blu-Rays and special cases. I may consider downsizing the used space in my room soon.

(To be fair, I only get $39 on a perfect week. Odd, yes. I'm much aware.)

PANDAQUEEN 8th Sep 2023 5:24 PM

I eventually found that missing Blu-Ray Case, but there's a power outage in my county, so I am using the mobile data to use the Internet.

I am also nervous about my party attendence to see my grandpa turn 95.

Bigsimsfan12 12th Sep 2023 5:33 PM

Today my ex-landlady emailed me to sue me for £3,000+ so that's fun. Apparently I have until the 17th or she'll take me to small claims court. Dont get me wrong, the house wasn't in great condition when we left, we had 2 kids so I'm sure there's probably crayon somewhere on a wall, the dog had scratched at the front door etc. £3k worth of damage though? No. But I don't even know if I still have pictures from the house when I moved in, so I'm sure that's gonna fk me over.

simsample 12th Sep 2023 6:23 PM

She has to expect wear and tear, she's a bit loopy!

Bigsimsfan12 12th Sep 2023 6:43 PM

She is. Like I understand if she wants some of the deposit, because a kid peeled off some of the laminate on a cupboard, the dog had scratched a bit of the front door (within 6 months of us moving in, we agreed to get an American style postbox to avoid any further damage and kept that area covered with a curtain so the dog couldn't see if someone was at the door) etc... but... £3611 + deposit (£650)... that seems like a LOT of damage. I'm guessing she's trying to claim for things that have been like that since we moved in, the previous tenant (her mother) had kept several indoor cats so the carpet stunk of cat pee and every door had scratch marks on etc. She's basically redoing the house on my hard earned penny, and I doubt there's anything I can really do about it tbh. This mostly just seems like retaliation because we had to call the police on her last week.

simsample 12th Sep 2023 8:32 PM

Did she just email you to tell you she was going to sue you, or was there some kind of legal document? If it was just an email, I'd be tempted to report it to the police, as if she keeps threatening you like this, it could amount to harassment. Gives you a record of it.
If she actually was suing you then there should be a legal letter.

Bigsimsfan12 12th Sep 2023 9:05 PM

Just an email...

Dear BigSimsFan12

As damage was caused to HOUSE (which the deposit did not cover), I hereby request the sum of £3,611.96 from you.

You have still not forwarded me a forwarding or correspondence address as per tenancy agreement.

Please confirm by no later than Sunday, 17th September 2023 that you agree to pay this amount or I will have to commence small claims proceedings against you.

Please note that any costs to commence small claims will be added to the costs I am seeking.

Kind regards
Landcunt

simsample 12th Sep 2023 9:25 PM

Dear Landcunt,

Could you please give me a breakdown of how the sum of £3,611.96 was reached?

I would also like a copy of the images you have of the condition of the house prior to my occupation, and the damages you allege that I have caused.

Regards,
Bigsimsfan12

I had to email you as this is the only contact I have for you. You still have not supplied me with your home address as per tenancy agreement.

Please confirm your home address ASAP and then I can forward any relevant documentation to you.

Kind regards

Landcunt

Like??? Why can't she just send pictures of the damages I allegedly caused??

Yeah, I think she wants your address as she needs it to file a money claim (small claim). You could get a PO box if you could afford it, but that's around £39 per month last time I checked.
You could always ask her if she could send you digital copies? It's okay for you to tell her that you don't want her to know your address, and refuse to give it to her. You no longer have a tenancy agreement with her.

Bigsimsfan12 17th Sep 2023 1:16 PM

I'm not sure if she'd be ok with a PO box. I offered her a family members address and she said no, it HAS to be an address I live at per tenancy agreement. I'm under the impression she can start the claim without my address though? Apparently it can take upto a year to get a court date and I really don't want to be paying for a PO box for that long.

simsample 17th Sep 2023 2:07 PM

Well, given that you have had harrassment issues with her, I would say that's grounds enough to refuse to give her your new address. She can harp on about a tenancy agreement all she likes, but you no longer have a tenancy agreement with her, so you no longer have to comply by it. As you mentioned before, the only reason you were thinking about giving her your address was to get the deposit back, but you seem resigned to have lost that anyway. So there is no benefit that I can see to giving her your address. Insist that any proof of the damage and other documents be sent digitally, via email, as you do not wish her to know where you live due to her previous harrassment. If she insists on an address then give her the relative's address that you tried to give her previously, as a forwarding address. It's perfectly legal to use a forwarding address. That's what I'd do, anyway! I would NOT want that woman turning up at the house screaming that you owe her money.

PANDAQUEEN 24th Sep 2023 8:24 PM

My cat, Gemini, injured herself while jumping. She's limping.

I knew something was wrong when she had bumped around the house.

I know she's 13 years old and she's no spring chicken...

simmer22 26th Sep 2023 2:57 AM

I've wanted to work on my Downloads folder project, but all weekend and all of yesterday my brain has been all "I want to work on my Downloads folder project, but let's just do this and that first, and ( zzz...what?) oh boy is it midnight already?"

Basically, if I haven't slept away half the evening, I've been distracted by random shinies and oooh, squirrels -no, bunnies!

PANDAQUEEN 30th Sep 2023 8:17 PM

My Pokémon Omega Ruby Game Card stopped working. I was trying to see if I had my old nickname because I was planning on using my new one. I wanted a fresh start.

Lucky for me, I have money coming in and I can easily order a new copy through A2Z Mart.

simmer22 1st Oct 2023 12:38 AM

I ordered a calm, quiet evening shift.

What I got was anything but a calm, quiet shift. I've had my patience dragged in all directions today, and it's been stretched quite thin. Yelling times many, complaining, disagreeing people, bathroom leaks... It's just been one of those days

PANDAQUEEN 4th Oct 2023 7:18 AM

I signed up for a service that I can't use (a health food grocery store online because my parents closely guard my emergency food and OTC drug money. I turn 36 in a few weeks and they still have trust issues with me...I am still growing.) Besides, I recently got $48 more in food money. Government can't let me starve when the price of food is astronomical.

Also, I lost $13 from that.

At this moment, I have a service ticket open. It has yet to be attended to.

Bigsimsfan12 4th Oct 2023 1:42 PM

Ugh. Landcunt finally told me (after a lot of back and forth) what damages I had done to the property... shes literally charging me for all kinds of things. Things I've reported to her in the past, things that are apparently now broken despite working fine before I left, wear and tear. When we left, we left her stuff (that had been there the whole time!) in our shed... shes charing us to have it removed! It was her stuff!! Shes also claiming 3 months worth of rent loss because of the "state of the property"

And the icing on the cake... shes charged me for a locksmith because I didn't provide the keys to the rear doors. She stole those keys when she illegally entered the property days before I moved out, but I didn't press charges on her for it because I figured they'd be her keys anyway

Anyway, the solicitor i was hoping to go with is WAY more expensive than I was expecting because this is becoming a pretty complex case and I can't seem to find any other solicitors in the area. So basically whether I win or lose, and I will probably lose, I'm losing literally my life savings and will be horrifically in debt for the foreseeable future. All because of one disgusting woman on a power trip.

simsample 4th Oct 2023 6:04 PM

@Bigsimsfan12 Does she have your deposit protected? Not sure whether that is law in Wales as it is in England. If so, then she can't just claim the deposit, she has to dispute it properly, and the protection scheme agents should do that (no need for solicitor). You have to agree with any deductions. Has she actually sent you a money claim or 'small claims court' legal notice? If not, then just sit tight. You don't have to do anything yet as she's just asking you for the money, and you can say 'no, I don't agree because...' and write (in a letter or email, so that you have a copy) the reasons you've told us here.

It was protected. She claimed the full £650 for various damages, and the email got sent to husbands old email address he no longer has access to so obviously he didn't respond. We spoke to the deposit people and they say there's nothing they can do because they were lawful on their end even though they didn't ask for any proof and we didn't agree to any deductions, however she was suppose to contact me to tell me she was asking for the deposit, how much, proof etc. She purposely didn't, in fact when I enquired about the deposit she blanked me, which is a legal grey area really and they told us to get a solicitor involved... which would be even more of a cost.

Seemingly she can't send me any kind of court order without my address. So no, no court order or anything. I guess I can detail why I don't think I owe that much, but I don't think it would do any good because she had already said she won't settle it outside of court because I "make false allegations against her" (I told her I have felt harassed and don't feel comfortable giving my address to her).

simsample 4th Oct 2023 11:44 PM

I think I'd be tempted to send her an email anyway, telling her what you dispute and why, because then you have a record that you've replied to her in a timely manner. Puts the ball back in her court, so to speak.
I don't think you'd need to do anything beyond that- if she makes a court claim against you, then that is when you'd respond and get a solicitor. Unless you specifically want to chase the deposit. Also remember that a lot of the things she is claiming for, like carpet damage, can be put down to wear and tear. Also, was there a house inventory when you moved in? Without an inventory agreed by Landlord and Tenant at the beginning of the occupancy, it would be difficult for her to disprove your claim that the furniture in the shed wasn't already there and so on.
In short, send her an email saying you aren't paying it because... And then forget about it.
You don't have to read, reply or worry about any of her communications, until she makes a legal claim.

PANDAQUEEN 6th Oct 2023 2:31 AM

Where do I start with the mess?...

I was enticed by the prices and then I realized my parents still have a grip on my money, my chances to ever use a sewing machine, and any chance of learning cooking because of their schedules and their constant consumption of meal kits.

I turn 36 this month in a few weeks. This is getting fucking ridiculous and ludicrous to have to keep holding on to my parents' hands.

I am not going to let this happen any longer. I am going to have to talk to them. Beyond finding a tiny house, outfitting it with utilities and amenities, and eventually moving out, I am stuck in a house where I had very limited growth in the past year.

Also, Disney is doing numerous disservices with all these live action remakes or the photo realistic CGI attempt and I miss the romance.

Disney's Romantic Subplots
1937-2010

Not to mention, since they are removing Bambi's mother for the remake. If kids don't know about death, I can see a repeat of what happened to my father: zero coping skills in either dramatic or realistic death.

(My grandmother was one to shelter my father and his siblings from the concept of death and when she died, he ended up an addict to alcohol. It's been about 5 years since my father finally sobered up and kept sober. She didn't like The Lion King either.)

For me, it's like that scene from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" where Charlie blows up at the therapist about him being gaslit into "Charlie Work" (blue collar work otherwise featured in shows like "Dirty Jobs") and on an unrelated note, the tap water in our town is so chlorinated, it would make anyone say that the bleach smell and taste is fine (that's a lie). At least I don't have a dead pigeon in my coat. I already have issues with life and birds are just another thing I rather not get involved with. (Bird people can be a little weird, at least to my mother.)

It's been a big deal lately to keep up with the house, but lately, my stomach is still terrible. I have to call my gastroenterologist in the morning.

Personally, I would rather rewatch the SNL "Bambi Live Action Remake" parody on a loop, do the shopping myself and for once, probably find a sooner cancellation for an appointment with my new endocrinologist Dr. SK.

Due to the American healthcare provider shortage, I have to wait until January 2024. I can only hope Dr. SB can find out what is wrong with my stomach without cramming cameras in places I find uncomfortable.

What would you like to learn to cook?

simmer22 6th Oct 2023 4:48 PM

Absolute basic cooking skills aren't too difficult to learn. You can find tutorials and easy recipes on the internet if you need a show-and-tell (can be useful to have both video/pictures, and a recipe). Youtube has some videos for basic skills, for instance.

You rarely go too wrong if you start out with simple ingredients like raw meat/chicken/fish/etc., some veggies and other sides, plus salt and pepper, and some oil or butter for frying in a pan or in the oven, or using a casserole for steaming veggies, making soup, and things like that. If the taste gets boring, there's always other spices, or sauces. You can make a lot of variation by using the same proteins but varying the cooking method, spices, or side dishes.

I've found it's usually both more tasty, cheaper and healthier in the long run to buy the ingredients than microwave meal kits, frozen pizza, nudles, and so forth (and tastes better, too). Ready/quick-meals have their uses (handy for days when you don't have time or energy for cooking), but not every day.

If you want to cook, there shouldn't be anything hindering you in trying to cook for yourself - if you buy your own stuff and clean up after yourself, then who can complain?

Living with your parents past a certain point can start feeling intruding on your life, and it can be good to get a place of your own. Just take into account that it is expensive to live alone, so make sure to have some kind of steady income and/or savings, and get any needed life skills in order - if there's anything you don't know how to do, it's a good idea to get the hang of it while you're not stuck alone.

---

Back hurts. Likely from bus ride (and hospital trip, plus carrying around shopping bags). And social battery is running very empty. Long day...

PANDAQUEEN 6th Oct 2023 9:54 PM

@simsample

Well, I bought some gummy candy mixes, but they require double boiling with a heat resistant bowl and a pot of boiling water after the blooming process the gelatin goes through.

I also have to learn to prepare with other techniques so I can make a banquet for my father's family. (Stereotypical Catholic family, lots of kids and grandkids under the patriarch, my feisty 95 year old grandfather.)

I am currently working on cooking and baking techniques . My mother enjoys the brownies I make from a box because I time it just right and they aren't too gooey, nor too hard.

Noa1500 7th Oct 2023 10:50 AM

I realised this morning that I forgot my leftover pizza on the train

I mean its def a first world problem because I could make food for lunch or dinner or whatever, but like that's why I'd ordered the larger pizza last night - I wanted leftovers.

I still haven't replied to Landlord (I know I should asap) but I was re reading the email... and.. is she actually serious?

Ok so, when I moved in the u-bend inside the toilet was rusty. It really embarrassed me for years that my toilet always looked dirty and I did ask her to replace it and she never did because it still worked fine, it was just a little rusty so whatever.

However she has charged me for:
- cleaning of the toilet
- a new toilet
- installation of new toilet
- NEW flooring because the new toilet is smaller than the old toilet so there was a gap in the floor.

Is she actually for real? What

I actually kinda want this to go to court because the things she's trying to charge me for are actually insane and surely there's no way someone would look at this list and go "yeah, sounds about right"

simmer22 10th Oct 2023 2:25 AM

^ Have you somehow made the toilet go rusty? If the answer is no, then it's not on you. She can't charge you for something that was a problem before you moved in, continued being a problem while you lived there, and for shoddy repairs after you leave (that really should've been done while you lived there). That's all on her.

Sounds like she's trying to squeeze some last-minute money out of you so she can get some upgrades done, without having to spend a penny herself.

My hair is falling out in knots, there's 2 wars going on, and the voice actor community is in shambles.

I am too stressed to be blessed. I feel like I'm having a bad panic attack and I was on the phone with my therapist who said I have to start setting emotional boundaries.

I probably will give up my dream of voice acting because no one I know gave a single fuck about my life living by the principles of ikigai, which is to live a more enjoyable life by doing what you love.

Scented trash bags. Sincerely, who thought this was a good idea? Now the kitchen smells like lavender, and not the good kind. More like someone emptied a whole can of cheap air-freshener and left a forest of lavender Wunderbaum hanging around.

It technically wasn't my idea with scented ones - but how should I know that half the trash bags were scented (haven't tried that brand before)? Just thought purple was a neat color (and wasn't too happy about the see-through ones).

I got contacted by the people who live in my old-old house (pre landcunt house). Seems the landcunt has sent court orders there against me. Which obviously I didn't recieve. So a judgement was made and now I have to pay £3k plus £115 court. So that's fun.

Husband is gonna contact the court tomorrow and see what they say, she's clearly done this because she knows I last lived at that address seven years ago and she knows we can't fight her if we didnt know about it. I'm just curious of why they've only said £3k and not the full amount. I guess even a judge realises how crazy some of her requests were. Its lucky we even finally received it, because if we don't pay by the 1st November the bailiff would come to the property that I don't live at and take their stuff.

She literally has an alternative address for us from when she stole our mail (not that she agreed to forward it there!) so I know she did this purposefully and I really hope a court agrees and we actually get a chance to defend ourselves!

My Grunkle Charlie passed away today. He was my dad's paternal uncle. My mother's family is not close to us and my dad's mom was an only child.

Yesterday, he was in palliative care and he lost the will to live after the doctors said he would never walk or talk again.

😭 Man, I am having a terrible birth month. My birthday is Monday and I may have to spend time alone while my parents go to the funeral\memorial service. I tend to feed off human energy in crowds and the emotional energy alone would make me sick and tired.

I may not get a check from my relatives nor will my gift from my parents show up on time for my birthday.

Only consolation for me is that I was born on "Slap An Irritating Coworker Day" and "The Feast of San Juan Capistrano".

Bah! What a nuisance. Looks like you might have a good case though:

If you can show that the claimant knew or ought to have known that you had changed address, then the claim form will be deemed not to have been served. This means that the CCJ is irregular and the court must set it aside.

I'm like 3 months into my new job and I think I'm already bored. Again. I know that's how generic office jobs at generic companies go, but I haven't learned shit in 5 years and that's definitely not ok. Anything that I've "learned" was through research and trail and error. That's not how learning and development is supposed to work, "figure it out" alone isn't gonna cut it. Every job and every internship I've ever had has been like this. What happened to real training programmes and making someone useful? Why am I not worth training? Like other than the ususal bullshit of oh you're too expensive, or "in this economy?

Time to change job I guess

You could ask if there are any training programmes or similar you can take part in. Sometimes there are, but the bosses just aren't aware people have any interest in it (or are used to people not showing interest, so they don't bother asking, or automatically send that one person they always ask/send).

I almost have the opposite problem. At my workplace there's too many things happening - always some new thing going on, usually a quick-course with at best a one hour powerpoint presentation (that ideally should've been a day-long workshop), and you're pretty much expected to know it by heart and use it in day-to-day from then on, but there's another one of those about every other week or so. If it's not that, it's new routines, new ways of doing something, yet another new app/program/thingamabob to learn... Would be nice if things could calm down just a tiny bit. There are limits to how much information people can take in...

What I would like some more training on is the apps/programs we use, because they've mostly been taught by very quick show-and-tell sessions between colleagues, plus a lot of trial and failure - and there's limits to how far this gets you, especially when everyone is at least a little bit unsure themselves...

And they always put meetings/course days/etc. on my days off. Always, Especially after several days of work - First day off I've got - BAM! Meeting/course day. Dunno how they're doing it, but they are

Bigsimsfan12 22nd Oct 2023 11:35 AM

Husband called the courts on Friday and we were told we could appeal (which costs money) or just pay the money. They didn't seem to care that she had purposefully sent the court orders to the wrong address. So I guess all we can do is appeal it, they didn't say anything about it not being served? But I guess I would have to argue that when I appeal and maybe even counter sue for the price of the appeal (and I'm thinking the deposit too, seeing as it seems that money hasn't gone towards anything at all)

Bigsimsfan12 24th Oct 2023 7:26 PM

More talk to solicitors, the police, etc.

So basically. Theres nothing we can do. Our options are: pay the money by the 1st or don't.

If we do? We admit to the damages caused and she gets the money. We can't go back on it at a later date.

If we don't or only partially pay; including if we appeal and it gets rejected or we ask for the court to reconsider the amount.... we get such a bad credit score for the next seven years we won't even be able to get a phone contract. Also we would have to pay the extra court fees, if we appeal we would be paying loads of extra fees which could amount to more than we're expected to pay LC. We don't even know what evidence she has against us, or what damages even are, or even what our deposit covered (so we could be paying double for things!) because she didn't provide any of it to the court so its hard to even say what she's accusing us of or whether we have a good enough case. We can't argue she used an address she knows we don't use, because technically it was the last address she knew we had lived at so its kinda a legal loophole. She did have a forwarding address that I didn't live at, but she didn't have to use it. She could've used my email address to serve it, but she didn't have to.. There's nothing we can realy do about it.

We spoke to the police about fraud by false representation, that she purposefully gave the wrong address, she won't provide evidence and didn't need to provide any evidence to the court etc... they said they can't give any advice. All they can do, is if we can in the future go through civil court and its deemed prugery or fraudulent, then it will become a police matter. We can't afford any of that.

We can agree with her a payment plan (which obviously she won't agree to, based on her previous behaviour), or pay in full. But from my understanding if it isn't all paid by the 1st November not only would our credit scores be completely destroyed, but we could face criminal charges.

So yeah, if you wanted to know how to scam poor people for all their hard earned money. There you go. I don't even have carpets, and my light sockets electrocute me... but I've just had to pay for a woman to furnish a perfectly good house she will probably put up for rent again and make even more money from and then repeat.

Bigsimsfan12 25th Oct 2023 5:57 PM

@simsample I thought about it but I don't think there's anything that can be done at this time. I contacted a friend of mine who use to study law and he explained my predicaments to a solicitor he works for and that guy has a passion for bringing down entitled people. He's been trying to do what he can with the case. We can't really do anything other than pay by this point though.

Only problem is... she didn't give the courts any kind of information on payment method etc. So. They've said we have to get in contact with her and ask how to pay. Which we've been trying to. She was very hostile on the phone and wouldn't talk to me. She told me to email her, so I've emailed her and she's clearly avoiding the question, asking who we talked to in court, what court etc. But won't tell us anything more. The court receptionist lady said while we can't force her to recieve the payment, we could still provide the court with the emails to show we've attempted to pay on time, but they aren't sure what that means for our credit score and solicitor friend doesn't know either.

I'm super stressed. This woman has purposefully ruined my life for the fun of it. No mortgage, no PhD. No third child. Husband probably won't be driving gain next year because of the cost. 7 years isn't a lot, but that's basically our kids whole childhoods. Where we'd be struggling with financial instability. I struggled a lot growing up in that kind of environment.

Backache from work, and otherwise the usual minor frustrations (but nothing too big today).

Hoped to get home somewhat early from work, but no such luck - no chance of reaching the first bus, and the next bus had to wait over 20 minutes for a different bus at the station, making it nearly half an hour late (thought it would never leave...), and a heavy smoker had sat down next to me stinking up the general area (probably smoked just before getting on the bus), so by the time I finally came home I was both frustrated and slightly nauseous with a headache coming on.

simmer22 7th Nov 2023 4:57 PM

All of yesterday, and most of today. Exhausted, still a bit pissed-off at whomever drove the bus yesterday (they drove away from me twice, and I know it was the same driver), and more than ready for some days off (we'll see about some meetings but it's not very tempting )

Only thing that partially saved the day today was that I got cake, buns, plus a bit of dinner at work. Food always helps. And nice people at work (the people I work with that is, not necessarily the residents - some were better than yesterday, some were worse, and some situations I'd rather be without, especially the 3 pm one today. Let's just leave it at that... )

Y'know how my life tends to jump from one traumatic experience to the other?... I saw a guy explode today. He had been smoking at a petrol pump and just kinda... exploded? Saw it all from the bus... so that was an interesting experience... and when I got on the bus my biggest problem was that I couldn't find my weekly ticket and had to buy a daily. Crazy.

^ You know the kind of "smoking is dangerous" campaigns that shows blackened lungs and all that? Seems to have very little effect, since it's "into the future". Show them footage of smoking actually being dangerous - here and now kind of dangerous, as in if you smoke in the wrong place at the wrong time, your face might blow up - and maybe they'd listen. Same if you end up with COPD and oxygen at a late stage - better not smoke around an oxygen supply, or your face might explode (no matter how many warnings, there's still some who just don't get it).

There's a VERY good reason for the signs that tell you not to smoke around petrol pumps (or indoors in hospitals), and it's not for the sake of clean air (although I'd think most non-smokers appreciate clean air)...

Typically, I'm not a panicky person. (Lately, life's been catching up to me, but that's a different problem than this one.) I once positioned my car awkwardly at a small gas station because it was during the rush hour and the person in front of me stopped awkwardly as well. Basically, if we both had gone a bit further, it would've been just fine.

I remember seeing funny videos (mostly of American people, sadly) how they completely miss the side on which the tank opening on their car is, so they manage to wrap the pistol thing that delivers fuel completely around their vehicle - well, it turns out, on this gas station, the cable is much shorter than on those videos. I managed to position the pistol to gently touch the tank opening, not knowing that there's a latch inside that the pistol is supposed to take down. I let the fuel run, and it sprayed just a tad bit on the floor, the side of my car, and the tire. I quickly opened my car door, disengaged the handbrake and pushed my car a bit forward by hand. I tried running the fuel again; it then managed to fuel up efficiently.

I went inside the establishment to pay and informed the person of my concerns about the spillage. Basically, I panicked and thought that my tire will catch on fire if I turn on the car. Turns out, diesel is much more dense than petrol, so chances of ignition are even smaller than I should worry about, and the person assisting me was relieved to see a small, football-sized wet patch on the ground (they were expecting a big puddle).

I drove to my boyfriend's down the road after that and kept checking right mirror in case I saw any smoke. It was difficult to calm down at his place though, because I kept thinking someone would throw a lit cigarette butt next to my parked car accidentally. Once I was calm, I went to wash my car. All that fear over a harmless, 0,2 liter spillage.

So no, I couldn't possibly wrap my head around people who smoke at gas stations...

Bigsimsfan12 21st Nov 2023 6:32 PM

So someone got hold of the security footage of the explosion at the petrol station yesterday, it's all over my fb news feed but I dunno, now I've watched it I feel weirdly less traumatised? Probably helps that the guy didn't actually die according to the news reports.

Anyway in the video you can see that he wasn't actually smoking at the pump... he put a lighter to the end of the nozzle and obviously.. kaboom Not a clue why someone would do that, the comment section is buzzing with comments about fraudulent insurance claims etc. There was also a murder (yeah my little town is suddenly very interestintg) that happened hours before so people are trying to link the events. Either way, I had therapy today where I talked about what I saw so that was helpful.

OMG! That's what happens when you live in Cabot Cove, Midsomer, North Wales I suppose.
The guy obviously had a problem, I remember many years ago, a guy on my shift at work sawed his own thumb off with an industrial bandsaw. To do this, he had to wedge a screwdriver in the safety gate switch, use a very long pole to reset an infrared beam he tripped, and use the same pole plus a broom to simultaneously press and hold the two switches you need to hit to turn it on. Than he had to hold his thumb under it and wait whilst it cut through very slowly (the thing was designed and set to slice carbon steel girders). He thought he'd get a big payout from insurance. He got nothing because it was all on CCTV.

People and public transport. I don't know what's happened in the last 6 months but people are acting as if they've never been on public transport before. Like wtf you guys. The rules are very fucking simple that unattended children are fully capable of following with no problems, and yet adults cant?

1. dont stand in front of the doors on the platform, people can't get out if youre standing in their way
2. dont stand in front of the doors inside the tram or train when people are trying to get out, step out and stand on the side
3. dont dive into the tram or train as if you're going to die if you dont get inside before the people trying to leave can get out
4. just fucking wait, if you can wait 15 mins for your custom coffee order you can wait 10 seconds

Due to my injury from my pre-Thanksgiving fall, I am scared of losing my job because I require rest and it stresses me to no end. The very idea of resting drives me nuts as I am trying to save money for my parents' gift.

I want to give them money to start them off for a chance to take a vacation since before the COVID-19 pandemic. As the disease had became endemic in the US and requires a shot every season, the past 4 years were a nightmare.

Especially the end of 2022, when me and my parents got it. Mom brought it home, dad went into a sleep\repair mode, apropos for a man who was program manager in various units for 15 years for Microsoft. Mom and I couldn't sleep. I was, in retrospect, feeling like "Somebody come along and put me out of my misery, please!" (Could not sleep without coughing fits kicking in. That bad.)

The following Valentine's Day, I was gifted a booster shot to prevent getting the latest strain at the time. Still overdue for my next set of shots (flu, pneumonia and Covid-19).

Also, the ginger ale I ordered last Wednesday was damaged in shipping and I am very angry after numerous delays. They are returning my money, but I just want the ginger ale after all that happened this week.

This job market is ew. It's reposts of scam jobs, fever dreams, and sometimes actual jobs not in my skillset. Those jobs do sound super interesting when I did research them, and I would definitely retrain or reskill if they were actually willing to train people with a minimally related background, but thats a tiny tiny chance. Whatever, I'm not surprised since the signs were already there in early 2022. So what am I going to be doing when not at work? I'm going to investigate how far can I tweak my cv (without lying*) to actually make it to the interview stage without being autorejcted by the ats. And by autoreject I mean for unknowbale reasons to us peasants, or boring stuff like caps on how many applicants are accepted. The aim is to sign a contract by April because anything sooner is probably far too ambitious. All that matters is that I get paid fairly and I get a new challenge - cos right now this job is none of these things!

Fabricate, Falsify, and Approximate: Employment Lore in 2023

1. Economising the Truth: removing relevant education
2. Substitution Outside Maths: group projects are internships
3. Globalisation 4.0: language levels are unnecessary
4. Efficiency in Industry 3.5: anything is a skill if you name it right

This ruins my day because I really shouldn't have to do this because there isn't actually anything wrong with my cv or my motivation letter. It's just the number of peoplve vs. open jobs vs. (probably) biased tools. And thats just UGH.

*lying would be making up stuff or completely exaggerating something e.g. i can work as an accountant because I had an accounting class all 4 years of uni.

simmer22 29th Nov 2023 7:24 AM

So a bit of background - Dad's got a weird family. Some of them are (or at least appear to be) relatively normal with the occasional hint of weird, some appear normal but are wackos in disguise (either you just need to know them, or they don't show their true colors until you get them going on a particular theme and then they go complete nutjob on conspiracy theories), some used to be relatively normal but have converted to wacko-in-disguise. There's at least one full wacko in there as well (appears normal only until they open their mouth - most of what comes out is pure BS, and you feel the need to throw your brain in the washing machine after spending a couple hours in the same room as them...).

Met one of the "recent converts" (one of the reeeally talkative ones) on the street while I was shopping along with mom. Relatively straight conversation at first, the "how are you doing, how are things, etc.", but it was freezing, we had heavy bags, and I really wanted to get moving. And I'd already realized this would be a game of "don't mention the war", because a cold got mentioned, brushed over, and I'm just thinking "don't mention covid, don't mention covid...", and of course it gets mentioned because mom absolutely needs to bring up the theme again. Three seconds later we're stuck in a 15 minute whatever it was where I'm left wondering when this person got their sense lobotomized, because apparently they don't believe viruses (and possibly bacteria) exist at all, and that lemon and ginger is a cure-all for cancer (and that's just the cliff's notes - this person sounded like they'd been consuming every single conspiracy site there is, hook-line-and-sinker...). And saying anything didn't help either (but I did, mostly to get things moving along, half to annoy mom a bit, because she was politely nodding and clearly making no moves to end the conversation, while I was freezing my hands off...).

I have to admit, I get easily offended on behalf of my profession when people outright say that "I have researched this thing that one person says and completely believe it" which turns out goes completely against at least the past 300+ years of discoveries, scientific studies and accepted theories/hypotheses in medical science, to the point where if it was real you could just throw out half a library, most scientific studies, a lot of medications, and leave a LOT of people without a job because they've studied it half their life and it's no longer of any use. Because one quasi-scientist and some brain-washed followers are of the opinion that viruses don't exist. But hey - in their opinion, at least there's no common cold, chickenpox, covid, flu, HIV or any of that... right?
In newer times even tiny viruses are observable in a microscope, so their existence and how they work can be proven (and has been, plenty of times, in a repeatable manner).

It can be very easy to get swept up into a conspiracy theory bubble (I've got plenty of family members already bitten by that bug, and a few of them used to be somewhat sensible adults). At times even I have to take a step back from something that at first seems like it's a "better hypothesis", but if it goes against every other established thought, or seems too good to be true at first, there often is something iffy going on.

Anyway, we got away from there in one piece (I didn't lose my hands), but I doubt I've caused any dents in those conspiracy theory beliefs (didn't have any hopes of that). I just hope it doesn't spread to dad (I know they've tried, because there was a small period of stupidity spouting from there as well, although I think reality kind of hit him straight in the face a couple times too many lately. If he stoops to those lows, I'll not so politely remind him of the multiple infections that have tried to finish him off the past couple or so years, and if he starts thinking it's caused by - I don't know - angry demons or some such? Then I'll whack him over the head with my microbiology nursing book and make him READ IT!).

My mother got conjunctivitis (pink eye) and is taking her inability to see out on me, especially when it was time for me to put away the dishwasher dishes.

Bigsimsfan12 1st Dec 2023 8:11 PM

Kids were vomiting all day yesterday. They're fine today, but now it's mine and husbands turn, we've both been vomiting all night and most of the day. We've been sleeping in shifts while one of us looks after the kids and oh my god it's terrible. To be fair they've not been too demanding, just mainly trying to sit on me and won't get off when I need to go be sick. The dog on the other hand is driving me crazy! Ever since we moved house, he's been different. I dunno if he's starting to show his age or what. He got excited earlier and peed all over the floor and lately he's been ignoring his food and trying to eat out of the bins or trying to pull plates off the kitchen side (thank god they're usually plastic). He's crying right now and scratching at the kitchen door because Ivy's dinner is in there because she "isn't hungry" (I'm sure she will be later when I tell her its bedtime ). Ugh. I wanna go back to bed We were suppose to go see Santa's sleigh today but obviously we had to cancel, and tomorrow is the baby's 2nd birthday party so fingers crossed we're better by then.

PANDAQUEEN 2nd Dec 2023 6:47 AM

I was coming out of the bathroom before going to bed and my father practically pounced on me, accosted me, asking if I was responsible for some "weird noise".

The way it happened almost scared the crap out of me. I was opening the door and shut it enough and told him I didn't know what he was talking about when it came to "a weird noise"...

He eventually got my mother to get off the couch and go to bed seeing as he's going to chauffeur her to work. (her conjunctivitis is almost done and over with.)

Edit: my mom has to go to the emergency room. The pink eye got worse and it concerns me as her daughter. Especially since she was doing fine in treatment.

Also this year was awful.

Not only did Grunkle Charlie die, but so did my uncle Gary's father, and my second cousin Mary's sister, both passed away not too long ago.

I still need to get vaccinated for flu, COVID-19 and pneumonia.

(This would be about the time a personal stormcloud rolls in and dumps buckets of water on me...at least that's the overall feeling of the year.)

Not happy about Q4. I have to go back for physical therapy as my left leg hurts after that fall.

I did the things mentioned last time and wrote a pretty good motivation letter. Obviously got the generic we've decided to move forwards with applications that fit more closely with our needs. First of all, we all know that's a lie. Matching 100% is a big no no because that's basically being immediately "overqualified" (I was like 75% there). Second of all, those few things I wasn't qualified for? They're company specific, so like an outsider wouldn't know those things. And lastly, everyone knows they're gonna pick the internal candidate You know, unless its not just an eternally open position on their website because that's a thing they'd totally do.

I swear I roll my eyes so often its a wonder they're still in my head!

simmer22 8th Dec 2023 10:14 PM

Backuping mom's phone pictures, and then making christmas cards with mom. Took 2+ hours. It's a bit like dragging my brain backwards through a very long stretch of barbed wire fencing, because she barely knows what we're doing, and still needs to discuss every single picture and every single tiny thing at least 10 times (Eventually I had to make a few executive decisions - deciding on a base design and moving stuff around, then wait for a final approval - or we'd probably not be done until sometime after New Year)

Good thing it's a year until next time...

(But she did bake buns this morning, which were really yummy, so the day wasn't too bad, I guess).

The dogs been struggling with incontinence lately. He's 13 and been showing a few signs of dementia so we really need to get him to the vet for a proper examination. Yesterday I came home from work and the entry way stinks of fishy stale urine. Husband claims the dog hasn't peed anywhere today so I'm thinking maybe he (the dog, not the husband) peed a few days before but got confused and licked it up before we got home because we were out all day Thursday and it's only just started to smell now? Either way, I spent today scrubbing the floors in the hallway and entry way, and then just to be sure I scrubbed the livingroom and the kitchen (especially near the back door, because he goes out to pee, pees all over his feet and then walks back into the house!). I've managed to do all this while my newly-2 year old screeched because he wants to be on me 24/7 and my 4 year old continuously asked for snacks. Today has already been a long day and I've only been up 3 hours.

I had gotten scared when the side effects of the COVID shot included vomiting (I have emetophobia, a fear of vomiting, which my parents are NEVER sympathetic about.)

So I had them test me to check if I caught COVID. I also didn't get my pneumonia shot.

As far as things went...this month was ad hoc. What was supposed to be refunded on the 11th, I ended up in limbo waiting for money that should have been refunded ASAP.

I am going to die. I don't have any presents for my parents, I lost my job because of an injury and now only have 3¢ to my name. My parents are going to call me a jerk and kill me for not following through.

At least I feel like it's the same feeling I had as a child when "kill" was not so literal and meant harsh, Old Testament style punishment where consequences outweighed the crimes

Technically not ruined my day, but the package delivery services don't seem to agree on where it would be convenient for me to pick up packages. They also very much like to make it into a mystery tour every time.

The past few times I've had them delivered to my mailbox (which is fine when they're small enough to fit... which isn't always possible), plus at least 3-4 different places all over town (and they get more creative every time).

One I didn't even know had a pickup place - today's adventure (usually would need to take a bus - and on a Saturday, so there are fewer buses. Luckily I found someone who could drive me, since the weather was quite awful...)

One of them in walking distance (but heavy, in a lot of snow, pitch darkness, and I had to download an figure out how to use an app with frozen fingers to get it out of a package box outside) - last year. Didn't even know there was a pickup place there, so I think I spent a good half hour in the freezing cold just searching around. Wouldn't really have minded having it delivered there this time (no snow and warmer weather this time around).

A few at a pickup place about the furthest you can get from my home (need to take a bus). They tend to end up there from time to time.

They rarely if ever deliver to my door any longer, which is a bit annoying. They used to, at least sometimes.

Well, it's not really an issue of one day, but a few days ago weird mold have started to appear on the walls and ceilings of my house. It's impossible to clean with basically anything and it reproduces, so it's annoying. I guess this is the price to pay if you live in a very humid area.

simmer22 18th Dec 2023 6:43 PM

Barely slept the previous night (woke up from some stupid dream after a couple or so hours, and couldn't get back to sleep), and didn't get a lot of sleep last night either (I probably WOULD have slept more, but had to get up way too early), so I've been in zombie mode all day at work... Probably will fall asleep several times the rest of the evening...

PANDAQUEEN 18th Dec 2023 7:58 PM

Well, my father's car battery died on us in the driveway as we were starting up, so collecting my gift from United Way had to be rescheduled 23 hours from the original appointment.

The mechanic warned us that the battery was on its last legs, but it was just our luck to end up staying home and rescheduling the appointment so my father can get the battery changed in time for tomorrow morning.

Leaving my laptop for a short time just to get some food and such, having nothing running except an empty browser tab.
Coming back and seeing the screen black, saying "reboot or put in a booting thingy then hit a key".

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea what happened

But rebooting worked, the laptop seems fine, no other notices. Nothing weird going on.
I guess it's time for a full backup again...

(I've had it do the "crash/black screen-reboot" thing on random occasions, and a couple were scarier, since it seemed like some Windows files were broken and needed auto-fixing, but it's been a good long while since the last time. I think the last was in the middle of when I had issues with some Windows updates).

The office was freezing all afternoon even with the thermostat turned on to maximum and me wearing my layers and fingerless gloves. Was really wondering if the heating had gone on holiday like half the office
By time time I left, standing outside in the wind felt more or less the same as being at my desk.

PANDAQUEEN 23rd Dec 2023 4:45 AM

Still having pain when I walk and put weight on my sprained left ankle.

It's not really fun to spend the holidays with such injury. 🤕

OMG - I did the same thing!!!! Actually, mine is a reinjury that happened just days after graduating PT from an ankle and back injury from last year. Good grief! Hope yours heals quickly.

I fell off a toilet the day before Thanksgiving, I hit the drywall with my forehead at an angle that left a bruise on my head and a dent in the wall. My body crumpled like a rag doll and I injured my back and left ankle. They put me on a muscle relaxant and I take half a tablet (it's powerful)

Owww! Sounds like a complicated injury. My original injury was from slipping on wet leaves as my dog pulled me over a small hill. The reinjury was when I simply stepped off of my door's threshold onto my porch. It's been a week and I should be at the stretching and strengthening phase, but simply walking around wrapping gifts and cooking has caused enough swelling that I am not ready for exercises.

Bigsimsfan12 24th Dec 2023 6:06 PM

This morning, my Dad is due at my house at 9am. At 8:45, my child spills a massive bowl of cocopops all over herself (bare in mind she was already dressed nicely) and all over the sofa and floor. Luckily I cleaned it up before he arrived. Not that he would've minded anyway, but it sucks that I spent money on a lovely Christmas jumper and leggings for her to spill milk all over it 15 mins into wearing for the first time

I have a X-Ray appointment on Friday at the podiatrist on the clinic's second floor suite.

Bigsimsfan12 28th Dec 2023 2:53 PM

The dog got himself trapped in my daughters room while we were out. See he can headbutt the door to get in but it closed behind him and he couldn't get out. So he tried to eat his way out. He's completely destroyed her toy boxes, doll house, lots of her toys, her chest of drawers is knocked over, he's eaten her shoe rack and her cabinet thing. He's also pissed all over her bed, clothes that fell out her chest of drawers and all over the floor near the door. Fucksake. We were out for 2 hours tops

My mom still has the debit card.

My parents share the debit card.

She is currently at work.

I am running out of food.

I'm starting to think my therapist was right on the whole "food insecurity" issues.

Ugh, husband is ill. I feel bad but honestly I don't even care. I cannot be sympathetic at all. It just feels like he's always ill. Like he works 5 days and I work 2, the only time we get off together is Sunday afternoon and Thursday afternoon. Nothing else. So somehow we have to fit into those few hours everything we want to do as a couple/family and all the cleaning jobs we can't do while the kids are climbing around us. But here he is wasting our Sunday afternoon together in bed being all ill. And a few weeks ago he had annual leave off work and he was ill the whole time. It's just making me feel frustrated because it means I'm doing all the childcare and all the housework and somehow trying to do tasks that he was either suppose to do, or tasks I wanted to do while he watched the kids. I know he's actually ill, because often I'm ill before/after him... but even when I'm ill I still have to do EVERYTHING because he's at work. Right now I have a really bad toothache that is making the whole right side of my face radiate with pain, I'm also having a heavy period where I'm bleeding through everything and I've got a dog who's pissing everywhere and keeps trying to eat from the bin and a toddler who is "potty training" (2 3 accidents today and 1 pee on the potty. Yay.) And I've been tidying up my daughters room that got trashed and binning all the chewed up toys as the kids make more mess and I've been at work the past 2 days and there's mountains of laundry and dishes and clothes left on the sofa despite me saying "all clothes need to go in the hamper because the dog keeps peeing on his feet or having accidents and then sitting on the sofa and making a bed out of any clothes left there". And I do not care that my husband is ill.

Fell on the ice (solid ice outside work while walking to a waiting car) and hit my shoulder/side, so now it aches when I move my shoulder. Nothing broken, pretty sure of that, but I'm likely going to be quite bruised tomorrow...

At least I've got several days off before work again (need my arms)...

Bigsimsfan12 4th Jan 2024 5:04 PM

Stood on my glasses. Thought "ugh now I'll have to wear my spare pair". Broke a statue while trying to reach on a shelf (because my house was built for my 6ft something step-MIL so I can't reach anything) only to realise my backup pair wasn't there. Tried navigating the house without glasses to find my backup pair. Found them. Opened the case. They are broken too.

I have 2 days worth of work before I can get to an optician and I can't see a damn thing.

So we've got this direct TV streaming service that's connected to the TV. I use the streaming site, mom uses the TV.

The website has... issues.
Some days I can log in directly.
Some days it takes a couple or so tries before it goes to the password and then to the site (like today).

Yesterday I don't know how many times I tried, but probably upwards of 20-30 times, reloaded the window 5-6 times, even closed down the window (which logs me out of EVERYTHING ELSE, so I try avoid doing that ), even tried waiting about half an hour in between there. And all through that (until the final one where it actually works) it doesn't get as far as to the password - just the username. I mean - how difficult can a login page be?

Nothing worse than a plan to escape (or any plan for freedom) backfiring.

I freaked out at my father touching a delicate shipping bag that was part of the unboxing and he snapped a pair of scissors at me and I shrieked.

I shouted "What the hell?" I wasn't in the mood to fight because I had to make myself a lunch that afternoon.

My father does random shit that scares me and I don't know why, but I wish he'd knocked it off because I can't handle a heart attack. I'm 36 years old and can't handle this shit.

simmer22 24th Jan 2024 9:07 PM

Apparently, spider season starts earlly this year. Already found two in the span of a couple days. It even snowed some 30-40 cm just last week, dunno what they're doing out of their hidey-holes this early!

Just taught one of them how to sit, stay and play dead (don't know about the "play" bit, though... :/ But it did get a trip down the waterslide afterward, so spooder go weeeeee!)

---

Also, the TV streaming we use completely redid their UI, and it's absolutely horrendous (like most streaming UIs these days). I've completely lost the nice overview I had of recordings, half the "next" episodes aren't showing, lots of the older functions seem to be missing, and it's all a huge mess. Probably so they'll look like all the other streaming services...

The only thing that's vaguely useful (although I'm still not sure - I'll have to use it a bit more to figure out all the flaws first - is the channel overview which isn't the worst they could've done, but the major flaw there is that I can't go directly to the overview of all the episodes for a series - it just shows the horrible new overview that has everything I need missing.

I hate it when they mess up something that's working fine
