Legolas or Aragorn?

To my knowledge, these two are the most popular characters among the women
Legolas is most popular amongst the younger girls,
and Aragorn with the older women.

So the question I'm asking is who are you more attracted to
--Legolas or Aragorn?
Guys are welcome to answer there's no bigotry here!

Personally I would go for Aragorn any day (I'm 16)
because I think Legolas is overrated and isn't all too attractive.
He isn't as buff as say, Boromir or Eomer :lovestruc (Be still my heart!!)
Legolas looks too much like a chick and that freaks me out.
Plus I think Orlando Bloom wasn't that good an actor
(compared to everyone else whom I have nothing bad to say about their acting ablilties
-Kudos to Sean Astin (Sam), Sean Bean (Boromir), Ian Mckellen (Gandalf),
and especially Andy Serkis (Gollum).

Okay that's my rant for the day. I'll be quiet now

I prefer FRODO!!!!

Simulitis 10th Apr 2009 8:28 PM

Well...I have to admit I never got that "SQUEE!!" fanatic about any main LOTR character.
Aragorn/Viggo's a physically very interesting specimen - I especially liked his many swordfighting scenes. Oh, and I was quite surprised when I heard him singing in the last bit of ROTK; yay for his beautiful voice!
But I got the impression that he had a very stereotypical, almost perfect 'hero' personality; brave, but serious and modest, which is the main reason why I never really grew fond of him.
I personally like Legolas' personality better, whilst his apperance is nothing to compare with Aragorn's; although I'm quite in love with long, well-tended hair on men.

straightroad 11th Apr 2009 12:21 PM

I love rugged warrior type men!
Well I haven't read the books but from seeing the movies I can't really tell what Legolas' personality is like. I just know he pouts a lot (turn-off much?)
And O.M.G (squeal) Aragorn can SING! What else could you ever ask for in a man??
Lol I love long hair on men too but not quite as long as Legolas'!

joninmobile 1st May 2009 2:58 PM

Legolas! swwwooooon! <3 I'm not much for facial hair though maybe that's why I don't like Aragorn as much.

straightroad 2nd May 2009 9:42 AM

Pfft jon :P
I used to swoon over Legolas/Orlando too, back when I was 13..
Im 16 now and see the errors of my ways.. xD
Its cause of LOTR that Ive developed a sudden intense attraction to facial hair lol

Oh, Viggo Mortensen is insanely hot in LORT, but out of it he's just... meh. Not nearly that interessting. Even in the end of ROTK -- after he's "looking good and clean" it doesn't have the same sex appeal. *laughs*

I like Aragorn better than Legolas, but that has much more to do with the book than with the movies. I like him because of the whole Aragorn/Arwen thing, I found it really romantic. He reminds me of Beren, which is a Tolkien character that I absolutely adore.

(Although Turin will always be my favorite, he's a very shakesperean character. I love tragic heroes)

*edited. Looking GOD? Now, that would be too much*

straightroad 4th May 2009 9:27 AM

ARAGORN is insanely hot, VIGGO isn't quite.
I agree the dirt-free and clean Aragorn just isn't as hot..
I think it might have something to do with him looking pale, he's really tanned in the 1st and 2nd movies but got all pale in the last
And because Viggo's face is quite wide, so when he tied it back for the coronation it just didn't look so good.

dianaprallon 4th May 2009 11:18 PM

Yes, and he looks so gay with that blond hair of him. No, really. I like man that look man-ly.

straightroad 5th May 2009 8:16 AM

Viggo's aged since LOTR (which is understandable) but there was a time when he was hot pre-Aragorn..
BEHOLD..

*swooon*

JanetteRaven 6th May 2009 7:59 AM

Karl Urban aka Eomer is way hotter than either of them!

I don't care that he aged -- still pretty young. I just really don't like him with this blondish hair. I should agree that he was hot, though.

(Well, he's old enough to be my father -- actually, he's just AS old as my dad. But Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise also are, so, doesn't really bother me.)

(Also, I still think Eric Dane is the hotter man alive on earth.

I know. I know. -- I'm counting that no one will bother with this last picture since it was captured from on open television, on prime time, a couple years ago)

straightroad 6th May 2009 9:00 AM

Sorry guys, Aragorn will always be my number one (Obsessive fangirl much?)

I also think Eomer was SMOKIN! He's definitley up there!

But IMO the most attractive on LOTR would be..
1. Aragorn
2. Boromir
3. Faramir
4. Eomer

Karl Urban was also uber hot in Riddick.
I'm getting zero sparkage from Eric Dane, although I understand that people would find him attractive.

dianaprallon 6th May 2009 6:15 PM

Nah, he's still the most attractive guy on LORT cast. Or I should say... The only one. I like Orlando Bloom enough, but Legolas isn't much of my type of guy (he looks better on PotC). Boromir is okay as well, but not really hot. And, you know, getting psyco... Also not really my thing.

And Faramir doesn't even have a nose. It freaks me how thin his nose is. I can't even notice anything else about his face but his lack of nose (as I can't really think anything about Elrond but that he was eyebrow-less. And a Drag Queen).

SwirlyTop 6th May 2009 10:10 PM

No Legolas is totally hotter, he's played by Orlando Bloom so that makes him hotter.

straightroad 7th May 2009 6:33 AM

Fine, I accept that you find Legolas/Orlando hot, I've been there.
It's just me, I'm into the rugged type. I dig the facial hair.

How old is everyone else btw? I wanna see if I'm right about
"Younger chicks= Legolas Love and
Older chicks= Yay Aragorn"

dianaprallon 8th May 2009 6:24 PM

I'm... Twenty-something. Enough for never having adored Legolas anyway.

straightroad 9th May 2009 1:37 AM

I know, lucky you.
Unfortunately when the movies came out I was fairly young...then I laid eyes on Legolas...*rolls eyes*

dianaprallon 9th May 2009 6:37 PM

Oh. I was in college when TTT and RotK came out, so I was probably around 18 years old? I'm not really sure *laughs*

straightroad 11th May 2009 7:58 AM

:P
What's your "Top Males from LOTR" list?

Edit Aragorn's hottest scene...

drooooooooooooooooooool

Hejsvejs1 21st May 2009 3:56 PM

am I the only one who thinks pippin is cute ? x'D

naw

straightroad 22nd May 2009 7:00 AM

Pippin is adorable!
"Mushrooms!" I love it when he says that he has the cutest accent.
But people don't usually find him "hot" though

I reckon all the hobbits are cute actually!

crunkette 29th May 2009 7:40 PM

I like Legolas as a character better, cause I love elves and dangit he can take town an entire oliphant and it's crew single handedly!! Awwwwwwwesome! But do I find him more attractive than Aragorn physically? Not quite as much any more (I did when I was younger). Though it wouldn't kill Aragorn to bathe once and awhile, you know... XD I know, I know, he's always out in the forest and not able to... but jeez if Legolas can be dirty yet still looked groomed, there must be something Aragorn could learn there... ...or maybe it's just Elven magic... *snicker*

So my verdict? I think if you could combine the two, the creation would be a smokin hot, decently groomed fella I think we could all agree on! Also... he'd be a shield-surfing hero who commands armies of the dead, who is both King of Minas Tirith and Prince of Mirkwood. That'd be a pretty freakin sweet husband.

Everyone seems to have overlooked Faramir! :O (Ok, he has a big nose... but otherwise come onnnn!)

straightroad 30th May 2009 8:51 AM

Faramir is just gorgeous!
He and Boromir have big noses but I find them both very attractive.
Heck, my sister's only ten and she reckons Faramir's hot. lol

crunkette, I enjoyed your little rant about combining Aragorn with Legolas.
I can't say I agree, but it's just....Aragorn + dirt = hot.
Just imagine cleaning it off for him!

straightroad 1st Jun 2009 11:51 AM

Now for something completely different..

Squarah-chan 1st Jun 2009 6:03 PM

I absolutely adored Legolas when the first movie came out when I was 11, I had like 7 posters of him in my room *giggle* Now I'm 18, and still have a softspot for him but Aragorn is getting there! And I actually prefer him when he's all cleaned up at the end of ROTK :P

Faramir is pretty awesome too *swoon*

straightroad 4th Jun 2009 12:36 PM

I used to adore Legolas too haha
My walls are lacking from Aragorn posters, I need to get some really badly. A nude shot preferably xD lolol.

CTherese 4th Jun 2009 7:27 PM

Just my 2 cents here. I'm a 51 year old Grandmother of 2 and Legolas is my choice.

In the books, I found Stider/Aragorn to be such a strong character and liked him better than Legolas. But the films showed a Legolas that was truly Elvish, and I can't help it, I love Elves! LOL

Viggo Mortensen did a wonderful job as Aragorn, a little wishy-washy with his hestitation to take on his responsibility, perhaps; but he was exactly as I pictured him while reading the books.

Legolas walking atop the snow on the mountain was spot-on! *g*

As for third place...I know, you didn't ask! But it would be a real challenge to choose between Eomer and Faramir. Loved them both.

straightroad 5th Jun 2009 8:13 AM

Ah well
I thought maybe Aragorn was a bit too optimistic in the movies, from the books I thought he should be more cynical, like Gimli was.

As long as no one can denies that Aragorn is hot, I'm happy

edejan 7th Jun 2009 9:16 AM

Well, I have to jump in here too! I'm definitely more grandmotherish age, but I have to go with Legolas in the movies. He really looked and acted like I have always pictures elves. He was strong and intense and that beautiful long blond hair and perfect face. It was killer. And he did always look so well groomed. I thought Aragorn look really bummy, tho' I though Viggo made an ecellent Aragorn. My saddest thing about the moves was no Tom Bombadil - I think I would have liked that wacky dude in the movie!!

straightroad 8th Jun 2009 8:31 AM

"Perfect face"? Surely you're talking about ARAGORN?
I've heard varying opinions of Tom, some say he wasn't really necessary in the movies others would prefer he was in it.
Oh well. Past is past, can't change it

CTherese 8th Jun 2009 5:30 PM

LOL Both of you!

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo!

You know, they could always do a movie based on The Adventures of Tom Bombadil. More Tolkien movies would be great! *grin*

Yes, the writers (Jackson,et.al.) said that the character didn't advance the plot in any way, so that's why they left him out. I thought it was a clever idea to give some of good ole Tom's line to Treebeard.

I think the difficulty in choosing between Aragorn and Legolas is that they're completely opposite in appearance and mannerisms. I'm married to a bearded "Aragorn" type, yet the "fair" face of the elven race is very attractive to me. Legolas represents grace, poise, and ancient wisdom; though I hesitate to use the term, "feminine side" of men. I'm one of those women who likes the softer side of men as well as the tough. Does any of this make sense? LOL

Pax,
CTherese

straightroad 10th Jun 2009 10:57 AM

Ohh, I suppose?
I won't deny Legolas is attractive..but you Legolas lovers are really ganging up on me now *wounded look*

More Tolkien movies? Well there's the Hobbit movie which will hopefully be out before I start carrying a cane..

CTherese 10th Jun 2009 6:05 PM

Awwww...we're not ganging up on you. I won't deny that Aragorn is very attractive!! When the poster for Return Of The King came out, you know the one—with Aragorn, full-face with the hilt of Anduril—it literally caught my breath. I had it as a desktop wallpaper for the longest time. LOL

More Tokien movies!! Yes! Yes!!
The Hobbit is supposed to start filming with a release date of December 2011 and the second part is scheduled to be released in December 2012. Hmmm...isn't that the prophized "doomsday" year?

I'd love to see the Silmarillion on film and they could possibly do an entire film based on the Hidden City of Gondolin. A film about the Numenorians and their years on the island would be great, with the fall of Numenor being a wonderful climax to the film. Ahhh...now that would be sweet. But then, at my age, I may not be the one who lives long enough to see it happen! LOL

Pax,
CTherese

Squarah-chan 10th Jun 2009 9:58 PM

I'm not ganging up on you!!! *hugs straightroad* and I agree! Aragorn is really good looking They're both good in fact...along with Faramir and Boromir and Haldir (<3) and Eomer etc etc etc XD

I'd love to see the Silmarillion as a film, and I can't wait for the Hobbit to come out! I think Legolas should get a small cameo in his fathers halls cos technically he would have been alive then yes? Just to please the fangirls *cough* :D

straightroad 11th Jun 2009 6:32 AM

Hehe Thanks guys!
I wouldn't mind if you all were Legolas lovers, it just leaves Aragorn all for myself! *drools*

I haven't read the Silmarillion, so I'm not too familiar with it. Actually I haven't read the Hobbit yet either.
Well hopefully the Silmarillion will be made and released for you to see, Ctherese
Although I am doubtful they'll make one..

LOL on the "...and Eomer, etc., etc., etc..." I agree with you there! The book and film are definitely a 'boys club' per se; but great eye-candy for women! *blushes* Hey, as a slightly older woman, I even find Theoden attractive. LOL But I love Bernard Hill. Great actor.

I agree with you, too, about Legolas being shown in the Hobbit Movie. He would have been there with King Thranduil. I wonder if he was one of the elves that kept appearing/disappearing while the group was traveling through the forest. ??

You know...I was thinking just that while reading your posts. You can have Aragorn all to yourself! *grin* But then...I do have my Aragorn days.

I would definitely suggest reading the Hobbit before seeing the films! It's a much easier read since it was written for children (not to imply that you're a child! lol). I zipped through The Hobbit in about 2 days; and my reading time is limited to bedtime.

The Silmarillion...ahhh...that is a tough read; but well worth it! The opening pages read like the Book of Genesis for those who are familiar with the Bible. I know that Tolkien hated allegory, but as one of his biographers said, "As a Catholic, Tolkien couldn't help but write [The Lord Of The Rings] as one." To that, I add my own thought, "And as a Catholic, I couldn't help but read Tolkien's works as one."

What I love most about the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and The History Of Middle-earth books is that it gives the entire Lord Of The Rings story much more depth and rich history. For example, Gandalf was one of the Maiar (think lesser angels) as were Sauron, Saruman, and the Balrog. He (and four other wizards, including Saruman) were sent to Middle-earth by the Valar (think higher-angels—Christianity; or lesser-gods—Mythology) to help defeat Sauron. Gandalf was fearful about this task and unsure if he could stand the test against Sauron.

Sorry...just a wee bit of background for you. And that's why I love the whole story.

Pax,
CTherese

"Olórin was my name in my youth in the West that is forgotten". ~Gandalf~ And I've forgotten who he said this to; and where. ooops!

straightroad 14th Jun 2009 2:52 AM

LOTR hosts great eyecandy for people, yes. I mean, besides Gollum, I think the rest of the cast was attractive in their own way.
What, CTherese, why find Theoden attractive and not swoon over Gandalf ?

The Silmarillion sounds interesting and I flipped through a copy of it from the school library, although I was a bit confused. I don't think I have enough knowledge yet to go into the history of LOTR.

Oh, hopefully I don't give the impression that I'm a child haha!

Squarah-chan 15th Jun 2009 1:02 AM

I Kinda flicked through the Silmarillion but I think having just read the entire LOTR, I wanted a change, so I just went and quickly read the appendices in the back of it before changing to something else. I used to have the hobbit on tape when I was little so whenever I read it I hear the voice of the person who read it out in my head...it's a little freaky But it is a good book, you should read it

Catyme24 18th Jun 2009 8:02 PM

Think I like Pip best. He is funny

straightroad 20th Jun 2009 8:16 AM

Lol yeah, Pippin is so adorable!

simarillion 21st Jul 2009 5:25 PM

I love the Silmarillion! My book is really well worn but what do you expect from a first edition? lol. But I love how in depth Tolkien went. I mean he made languages, races, histories, legends, worlds, maps. Sure a person can make characters and races but to make a history of that race and legends and languages for it to is just unbelievable!

NintendoLover13 21st Jul 2009 11:02 PM

Legolas all the wayyyyy!
*is not an Orlando Bloom fan*
*knows Legolas is O.B*
*likes Legolas anyway*

stygia2002 23rd Jul 2009 5:35 PM

Legolas is the reason there are Half-Elves in my Dungeons and Dragons game. The scene where he took down the Oliphant totally does it for me...and don't even get me started about shield surfing down a flight of stone stairs in Two Towers...wow! And Legolas is the reason Orlando Bloom makes me swoon...well that, and Pirates of the Caribbean (I have a thing for pirates too...so a pirate Elf would be ideal...and scary).

Really, I hated Elizabeth and Will :P
Captain Jack is the one I enjoyed watching in the movies! ^-^
But a pirate elf!??? That would be effin' awesome! :D

stygia2002 23rd Jul 2009 11:27 PM

Yeah, Captain Jack is the coolest character ever! Will didn't get interesting until the last movie when he cut out his heart and became captain of the Flying Dutchman...yeah, that made him hot. Y'know...the pirate elf thing gives me an idea for my D&D game...I've had DM's block for the past few days...but you just gave me an idea... <wanders off muttering>

SimsShine 11th Nov 2009 9:27 PM

I agree with Stygia . :P
But I like Aragorn much more than Legolas. It's just because I can't stand Orlando:P
And Aragon is just... Hot

T-elos 20th Nov 2009 10:43 AM

I am a Boromir Babe.

:lovestruc

BUT if I had to choose between Legolas and Aragorn. I'd go with Aragorn.

pandemonium 1st Dec 2009 12:43 AM

Prefer Legolas.
Yes. I'm fourteen. And yes, I do generally go after the feminine looking guys. >.<

brunamikami 20th Jan 2010 11:22 PM

Well, I think Viggo is hot. I watched "Psycho" and "Eastern Promises" today, and he's very good in both. Especially in the last one, he's muscled (and that Russian accent kills me!). He's old enough to be my father, but I still think he's hot. I'm 15 And answering the topic, I love Orlando bloom, and Legolas is really beuatiful, but no one wins Aragorn. He's so manly! And I prefer dark-haired...

iscrit_risana 2nd Feb 2010 5:14 PM

I can't believe this is even a question. I'm 13 and Viggo Mortensen is probably the hottest man alive. :lovestruc Aragorn, not Aragorn, whatever.

Though when I was 8 and I first saw LOTR, I wanted to be Legolas...I even asked my mom to knit me a quiver. But he's not my type. That whole poncy-nancer girly men is not my thing.

nightwitch 23rd Mar 2010 2:07 PM

Aragorn he is the best and way detter than Legolas.

catc0617 23rd Mar 2010 3:15 PM

psh out of the two, I choose Legolas, with Aragorn in a verrry close second ^-^ but if i had to choose any male character, i would choose Frodo :lovestruc

Elena Swan 23rd Mar 2010 5:49 PM

Both are hot but I LOOOOOVE Merry!!!

LEGOLAS!!!

Nom :D

I love guys with white/blond hair :lovestruc :lovestruc

malfoya 27th May 2010 7:54 PM

I loved Legolas when I was 12.. I still love him now that I'm 21. It's just something with him being the magical creature that he is. The weird thing is that I don't even like Orlando Bloom anymore. He's just an boring actor, but the part of Legolas remains perfect! The other LOTR guy I like is Merry. Dominic is such a charming guy.. You gotta like him.

Sneakyninja 6th Jan 2011 7:43 PM

Legolaaaaaaaaaaaas! ;D

Aragorn is just...old.

And I agree with whoever said that Pippin is cute. And that accent! Oh my.
