Yup, agreed- the issue isn't apples to apples in terms of content and playability, it's that TS4 has nearly a decade of technical debt that hasn't fully been addressed (and flawed content that needs to be constantly maintained), and so they can't add all that much to the game anymore. InZOI, even if it's released flawed (same with Paralives), has the potential to address a lot of these issues immediately post-release and has a full lifecycle of content to be added in front of it.

So basically you have an old lame racehorse vs young racehorses starting at the gate...

Speaking of kits, 3 more are being revealed tomorrow. They’ve gotten very little fanfare.

Restoration Workshop
Golden Years
Kitchen Clutter

I look forward to kitchen clutter. Ironically, kits used to be the only thing that functioned in this game at one point. The mighty have fallen.

EAaxis unveiled the 3 kits.
https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/t...s=1745944458852

- Golden Years: Vintage, Elder Oriented Clothing for, including glasses as a necklace, a toupee as a hat and fitness clothing.

- Restoration Workshop: Garage Workshop. Restoring broken appliances with garage-Oriented Clutter (And no matching dishwasher or garage door, but that's another issue). I feel like the fuse box and water heater don't work with For Rent, but apparently, the fan does.

- Kitchen Clutter: A variety of modernity, mess, and functionality with a new cluttered fridge, tablet "cookbook", functional cookie jar, functional lunch box,, kitchen sink, "functional" grocery bag (you shop from it).

Restorable junkyard car not even in restoration kit? I mean that’s expected, but the name is quite of a jab that it doesn’t have the one thing the name reminds me of “ ([driven by] better Sims game)”. But hey, stuff pack (are they even introduce anymore?) will bring in the missing for another 15$.

ETA: checked the wiki. Oh jeez - Crystals was the last pack and even I only remember that was like ages ago. They really had stopped producing stuff packs along with game packs, and aside from expansion packs - they really are turning this game into home builder simulator and are really squeezing every penny of that game like some kind of living piggy-bank.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

The Sims 4 Golden Years Kit

My goodness that is offensive on so many levels.

So today I learned (from the screenshots) that it is okay for EA to stereotype and make fun of people because they are old.

BTW. I notice there's no seniors discount for this kit either!

Who needs a senior discount when EA is busy eliminating jobs. They're busy catering to their Wall Street overlords. I'm sure some of them [overlords] are old, but they're the ones with money so it's okay. They [EA] doesn't have time for things like customer service. People can talk to bots instead.

EA cuts another 200 jobs "in service of driving future growth", bringing total job losses to around 300

Electronic Arts has cut another 200 jobs, these redundancies coming on top of the 100 Respawn layoffs announced earlier today, April 29.

IGN reports these wider cuts chiefly affect EA's Experiences team, which typical serves to support players in customer service, fan care, and marketing, although "other EA departments saw reductions as well."

It’s time for elder Sims to finally(!) enjoy the fruits of their labor. Over the years, these Sims have cultivated their unique styles and personalities. With The Sims 4 Golden Years Kit, Elder Sims will be able to express their individuality. Elder Sims can celebrate their long and interesting lives by dressing in styles that are made for their life stage. From leisurely walks in the garden to a light workout session at the gym, there are comfortable clothing options for every type of activity. Even more, Elder Sims can accessorize by having glasses 👓 with eyewear retainers (don’t want to misplace those), along with toupees, gardening gloves and more.

This is so funny, I can't even begin... LIGHT WORKOUT... STYLES THAT ARE MADE FOR THEIR LIFESTAGE... EYEWEAR RETAINERS AND TOUPEES... *dies*

Items purchased from the grocery bag actually go in the grocery bag. That’s actually a nice detail. Purchasing items directly from build/buy and restoring them is going to be nice for retail businesses. The fusebox, radiator, timer, and fan being functional are great. The cookie jar spawns a cookie a sim can eat.

If they keep adding micro gameplay additions like these to kits, it will definitely increases the value of kits going forward. Adding in existing non-base game gameplay items was already nice but modified items are even better.

I’d love to see these small things applied to other themes as well, such as…

Downtown:
A kit focused on visiting downtown and community lots, with ornamental trees in guards, benches, chess tables and chairs, tasteful signage, shop windows and doors. vintage awnings, and lamps with flags. Sims can use or make purchases from clothing displays, dressing room mirrors, produce displays, retail freezers, gardening kiosks, book kiosks, and vending machines or sit around the fountain.

Futuristic Technology:
A kit focused on simulated futuristic technology. Computer and television displays are transparent with other high end electronics. Sims can produce tofu meals from a “food synthesizer” and specialty drinks from the “drink tray synthesizer”, bathing in a sonic shower, and riding on a hover bike. Eco friendly Sims can use a compactor to turn trash into Simoleons and see into the future with the updated future cube.

Shopping from the grocery bag doesn't work on community lots - the one place it make sense for it to be stocked regularly.

There's a bag of groceries in the new kit that Sims can buy groceries from. It only works on home lots, which is dumb. I want to buy groceries outside of home without needing to create an entire retail store.

Speaking of, does retail even work? It broke with business and hobbies.

Yes, exactly! To some degree, this has been true since Sims 1. At least in the early days, you could explore the pathway the developers imagined or you could go your own way. Sims 4 allows so much less freedom. Thank you, tangie, you put your finger on a large part of what has been bothering me.

Hello to you too! I agree. TS4 is really goal & quest oriented. Yes the player can ignore them but there are still consequences for that. Thank goodness for modders!

*Forgive the double post but I have a cat lying on one arm so typing with one hand. And I'm a little rusty at all this because I've been away so long!

The Restoration Workshop kit feels like it would be more at home in a Fixer Upper Starter Home stuff pack where all placed appliances, electronics, and plumbing items need to be restored or salvaged upon moving in and trash/debris/bugs need to be cleaned up before the home is considered habitable or resalable. I would play that.

There are rumors going around there is a resort / hotel pack coming.

2 EXPANSION PACKS Are Coming To The Sims 4! Resorts, Hotels and Bands Hints!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2um96N6MGe0

If this is true, they are going to use the same code that is used in For Rent which is at least part of the problem for save corruption.

Spend $80.00 for double the save corruption.

Or, conversely, fix it for all.

Then again, no, that does not seem like the modern Maxis we have come to know and... know.

So yeah, I'll go with your first instincts, too.

The optimistic days of "you never know" have long since proven unwarranted.

Although, having said that, I'm still not yet fully ready to abandon the adage "miracles can and do happen." Because there's still the outside chance, however slim, another entity may get involved outside the ravages of Maxis. So there's that. You never know.

Lucky that resorts won’t break, but apartments will still be corrupt. I don’t think resorts are as much used concept as setting up apartment (although if sims 3 had proper apartment system, the resort wouldn’t had been popular).

I had no realized how much content was broken. Apparently, all businesses are broken except Business and Hobbies. How in the hell even? It almost feels intentional.

I can't afford Business & Boring Hobbies ATM (it's $NZ70 here) and to see the next two packs are actually themes I really want, especially bands, is just crushing. (That is if they work and don't have 19 bugs out of the box like B&BH did)

I know I sound repetitive but we can already have resorts with the help of this mod: https://lot51.cc/mods/suite-life
I haven't tried it myself but maybe it's of interest here.
However, at this point I rather play with a mod than with a broken EA expansion pack.

For me owning a restaurant and retail business has been broken a long time. When a sim actively owns a restaurant I get last exception errors even after it's sold. As I had already problems with save corruption and last exception errors might not be good for this, I don't use restaurant or retail lots anymore.

Due to the ongoing problems with save corruption we should also not play with residental rentals, dorms, apartments in San Myshuno and Evergreen Harbor etc. And maybe also not with the new resort type lot that's coming.

You never know what’s comin’ for ya.

I said what I said and I meant it.

Businesses and Hobbies takes existing systems and copies and pastes them. Why does everyone business not work properly?

Now, I understand errors happening during development. This is natural. Things breaks, they fix them. Do you know how many packs have business?

- Get To Work
- Dine Outs
- Cats & Dogs
- For Rent

All of these have broken content. For Rent is a whole terror of a pack and they keep trying to sell it/advertise it. It has not worked as intended since launch.

So, when we get Resorts, does that mean vacations everywhere else will be broken?
