Sims can no longer do anything after turning lot to rental
I've been playing with a family and it grew too big, so I decided to build a rental unit on my home lot and move some family members into it so we can all "live together" without all being part of the same household. However, after turning my lot into a residential rental, sims can't do anything anymore! The game isn't exactly frozen, time still ticks and needs still decline, animations kinda just loop. I seem to be able to do ONE action per sim, but after that they just get stuck and never actually get to the next queued action. Obviously this is a pretty game-breaking issue. Everything works fine on different lots, it's just my "main" house where everything stop working.
I've got a decent gaming computer (see specs at the bottom of the post) so I don't think it's a performance issue. I've also had this happen under the same circumstances before on my old computer, where I did consider the possibility of it being a hardware issue, but on my new computer it shouldn't be a problem. Sims otherwise runs smoothly, and other heavier games do too.
Anyone got any ideas of what this might be caused by, and more importantly how it might be fixed?? Last time I had this issue I saw something about saving the lot, demolishing it, and re-placing it. But it wouldn't let me properly save my lot so I couldn't do that.
