Been going around fixing some ts4script mods broken from the Aug 19, 2025 patch update (1.117)
Yeah, this is a bit late, but I've updated my game yesterday and spent an aggravating amount of time trying to fix things so my save runs again, and I've just been made aware of the notorious Aug 19, 2025 patch update, which has affected my game a bunch. I've taken the time to diagnose the problem and I've been going around various comments sections in mods uploading updated .ts4script files for fixes. Is there any place where my comments can be made more aware so people can enjoy them? I know of the EA Broken Mods and CC forums but I'm not the author of any of these mods.

Here are the list of mods containing the affected ts4script files I've fixed in the comments section so far. I didn't tackle all of them but I've been going through shelleny's posts catching them and fixing them as I go. In the comments sections for all of these, I did lay down the exact problem and fix for the affected mods.
  1. Helaene - Insults & Arguments Pack (03/15/2023)
  2. Helaene - Trait Extras: Neat & Slob Social Interactions
  3. Helaene - Trait Extras: Good & Evil (Interactions and Lot Traits)
  4. Helaene - Praise & Admiration Pack (3/15/2023
  5. Fear Factory (Helaene)
  6. 50 Fortnite dances
  7. Toddlers can Eat from Cauldrons
  8. Acting Career (rabbithole) with no fame system and 7 branches
  9. SteadyJobs (a set of 25 one-level careers)
  10. Cleaning Frenzy for All
  11. Dungeons & Dragons Races as Traits
  12. Star Wars: One With The Force

[QUOTE=BabyLuigiOnFire]By request, I've also updated the ts4script file helaene's Preferences Plus mod.

I'm having trouble getting this particular mod to work, does it need another update?

hi thanks again for your work! unfortunately though I'm having issues with getting preferences plus to work. it leads to an infinite loading screen once I try to leave cas.

What I did is simply update the ts4script file. You have to download the original zip, with both of the .package files, and then replace the ts4script from heleane with the one I provided.

Hi, the major culprit for this is because the Lovestruck update (patch 1.108.289.1030) broke custom likes/dislikes, leading to UI glitches while in Full Edit CAS mode, thus the infinite loading screen while in CAS as well as UI not displaying properly. You'll need Zerbu's Custom Preferences Mod in order for this to work. Applying that package helped me exit out of CAS successfully as well as displaying the likes/dislikes the mod has.

Additionally, patch 1.117 has broken dozens of ts4script mods because they require two more arguments. Make sure the infinite loading screen isn't caused by other outdated ts4script mods that broke in a similar manner.

By the way, my post is made prior to the Marketplace update patch (1.122.205.1030), which has reportedly broke a lot of mods. My fixes are untested with the newest update.

Hi, thank you so much for updating helaene's mods. I think your updated version broke with the Marketplace update. It does work on it is own with Zerbu mod & xml injector. But for some reason it conflicts/causes infinte loading screen when loading into household when using Lumpinou's mods. I haven't nailed which one exactly causes it though) I hope you would be able to fix it but if it not that's okay. Thank you in advance.

Hi, most if not all of those are broken even with the script being updated. Most of the problems are in the tuning, and there are a lot of problems. Just fixing them so that the script doesn't cause you to bounce back to manage worlds isn't enough to fix them.

How would one go about fixing that. I just recently started fixing some mods i use (mostly qmbibi's mods) for personal use and i wanna see how i could fix the prefplus mod since i love it. I do you the help of chatgppt to tell me what some lines of code do, but if you have a modding guide i can look through (i havent been able to find one), that would be awesome.

ChatGPT can't help you with modding. It doesn't know enough (or anything, really) about TS4 mods. There is no modding guide. There are basic tutorials, but there's nothing that tells you what to do in most circumstances, just how to do specific things or how to figure out what to do yourself (mostly specific things though).

To fix the mods, you need to understand what's wrong with them. You compare them to current game code and see where they differ and then see if those are deliberate differences or mistakes or changes between when the mod was made and now.

I would not recommend updating preferences plus unless you have a good background in modding already. People who do have looked at it and decided that it would be easier to start from scratch. Aside from the tuning errors, and the unintended pack dependencies, it was made using mod constructor, which isn't intended to make human readable code -- and not the current version of mod constructor, which is an improvement over what I assume was v4, but which still produces mods that need fixing manually.

There's the tutorials section here (https://modthesims.info/f/708/). If you're on discord, you could join the Creator Musings server (it's public and you can find it by searching the directory). You can ask for help on the sims 4 studio forums or browse the tutorials. I don't personally find forums a great medium for getting active help with modding, mostly because it's easy to lose the thread you were in, but it works for some people.

A lot of modding is trying it and seeing if it'll work until you know what's likely to work. Then you move on to trying other things and seeing if they'll work or explode in your face.
