This mod allows you to run a “Cafe” or casual coffee shop.

With Open For Business we can either run
a) A “restaurant” with a host, waiter, chef, with table service etc (bit much for a cafe), or
b) A “bakery” such as the J’Adore Bakery, setting food plates for sale for sims to buy and take home.

Cafe mod attempts to add a third business style, where you can make food, put it in displays, and customers will pay money to take the food, sit down at a table, and eat it. Your business owner & staff can then focus only on baking, or manning the coffee machine, while sims enjoy food in a more casual setting. Paying to eat in this style does not require paying at a register (mostly cos I wasn’t clever enough to figure that out sorry).

This mod is designed for Open For Business lots rather than regular community lots.

To do this, this mod uses a Lot Controller and some custom “decra-chill” displays.

The “Cafe Lot Controller” found in Misc/Misc for $100 which is used to mark a lot as a cafe. Sims will only be charged to eat a plate of food when this object is on the lot. With this object on the lot, sims will also gain “Customer Loyalty” for eating food and drinking coffee.

The Cafe Lot Controller also includes some options that you can toggle on and off:
- Pets Allowed on/off (in case you want a dog-friendly cafe!)
- Eat or Go Home on/off (will push sims to eat food, drink coffee, or bugger off home to clear out valuable customer space)
- Toggle Object Model (toggles between the Sims 4t2 mesh or some vanilla Sims 2 meshes)
- View (looks like the sims are viewing the menu)

Cafe Mod Decra Chills
I have created a number of “Cafe Mod decra-chills” to chose from in your Cafes. When food is placed inside a Cafe Decra Chill, the food will not spoil, and may still be interacted with by sims – for example, a sim can still “grab a plate” or “eat” the food. It may also be set for sale in the classic Maxis OFB style if you want to have a mixture of dine in & takeaway options. I cloned and edited the following displays to create "Cafe Mod" versions:

All displays are found in surfaces / shelves and have many slots 😉

I have slightly edited Veranka's, JinxxSims's and Pixelry's meshes to remove the glass from the front of the display, to make it look more realistic when sims "reach in" to grab food. All displays also have unique code as they needed changes to work with Cafe mod.

The Veranka displays and the JinxxSims display can either replace the original conversion (replacement version), or you can get the repo version, which means they can exist alongside the original conversion and will pull textures and recolours from it.

The other displays are all “standalone”.

Maxis Foods & Cakes Updates
These files update all of the Maxis Foods and Cakes (e.g. birthday / wedding cakes) to have a “cost per plate”. I have included a spreadsheet with information on the Maxis food costings and how I worked them out. All Maxis cakes are costed at $10 per plate.

All costs per plate are tuneable. You can open the “TA_CafeMod_MaxisFoodsUpdate” file in SimPE, go to the BCONs section, and change each food individually if you want to (everything is labelled to be as straightforward as possible). However, as I have currently costed them, sims should make a profit on every plate of food they sell, especially if they make “group servings” from the fridge!

Any default replacements you have for the Maxis foods may stop the Cafe Mod from working, depending on how they have been made. I have fixed multiple of these default replacements which you can download if needed.

Custom foods will not have a cost per plate unless they are updated. This means that if you serve a custom food at a Cafe without updating it, it will simply cost $0 to eat. I have included all of the needed resources to update CC foods along with an instruction pdf to show you how to do this. It is very simple (I promise).

Conflicts
Cafe Mod unfortunately has many conflicts. I have included Compatibility Patches for all known conflicts, which you may or may not need.
  • TwoJeff’s Cheesecake Twins Fix – remove it. Open TA_CafeMod_Main, go to BCON “Tuning”, find line 0xB (11) and enter the chance out of 100 you’d like for cheesecake to cause twins into the “Dec” box. Maxis default is 100.
  • SimWardrobe’s No Free Lunch fix – remove this mod, I have bundled the fix into my mod.
  • Lamare & MogH’s auto put away leftovers – remove it and use my version (choose only 1)
  • Lamare’s Assign Tables Chairs mod (part of helpers mod WIP) – get comp patch Z_TA_CafeMod_CompPatch_LamareTableAssigner and load after her mod and TA_CafeMod_Main
  • Custom Cake Stands by PlatinumAspiration and MidgeTheTree – get my comp patch and load the files in the following order:
    First: Cake Stands
    Second: TA_CafeMod_Main
    Third: Z_TA_CompPatch_CafeMod_CakeStands
  • Lamare’s Inaccessible Booths mod (WIP) – get comp patch Z_CompPatch_CafeMod_InaccessibleBooths and load after Lamare’s mod and TA_CafeMod_Main.
  • Simler90’s Cleaning mod – get comp patch Z_TA_CompPatch_CafeMod_Simler90CleaningMod and load after Simler90’s mod and TA_CafeMod_Main
  • If you have both Simler90’s Cleaning Mod AND Lamare’s Inaccessible Booths mod: Only use the file called Z_CompPatch_CafeMod_InaccessibleBooths_CleaningMod and load after both mods, and TA_CafeMod_Main
  • Simler90’s Food Serve Eat mod and Cyjon’s Smarter Food Servings mod – these mods do basically the same thing. Get my comp patch called Z_TA_CompPatch_CafeModMain_CJSmarterFoodServings, and load after Simler90’s mod and/or Cyjon’s mods if you have them, and after TA_CafeMod_Main.
