And you wanna go back? (And why?)
What you need to do is disassociate the file type from the
Clean Installer.
Double-click on My Documents
Click on Tools, then Folder Options
Go to File Types
Find the one that says
Sims 2 Installable Package or
SIMS2SKIN or
SIMS2PACK
*Click on it once (so that it's highlighted) and then click on
Change
You'll get a list of programs installed. Find the one that's the Maxis Installer (if there is an icon) or click on
Browse and go to:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\CSBin\PackageInstaller.exe
Personally, I think Clean Installer is better to install lots and Sims simply because custom content is normally packed with either and you may or may not have the expansion pack (and get a strange error message). I'd much rather use Clean Installer because I can right-click on the .sims2pack and select Open With, choose Clean Installer and I can uncheck the stuff I don't want, especially hacks that piggyback lots.
IMPORTANT NOTE
You must be logged onto your computer under an Administrator's account or your account must have Administrator rights in order to do the above.
IMPORTANT NOTE #2
*If you accidentally associated a file with a program and you didn't mean to do that at all because you know you don't need to open up the file for anything, then after you click on
Advanced (not Change), then in the Actions box, highlight what's in there (whatever is next to "Open in") and select
REMOVE. You'll be prompted with "Are you sure you want to remove this action?" and select
yes.
