So I just return to this game. Have two questions.

One, how I do place a bike rack in an apartment? For a house it is a fine, but I cannot place one in an apartment building.

Two, how do I get visitors to leave?? There is no menu option to ask the visitor to leave???? I am not looking for a permanent deletion, just a polite, or not, way to ask the Sim to just go home and leave my Sim alone!

To edit the public areas of an apartment building (including the exterior), you need a cheat: restrictbuildbuyinbuildings false.

As for getting a guest to leave, I generally use another cheat, "resetSim", heh (that puts them back at their home lot). Sometimes there's a "shoo" dialog option, doesn't that get rid of em?

I guess you have no choice but to place the bike rack inside your apartment.

No. There are no option of any kind to tell a Sims to leave. I find this really surprising. Sims and Sim 2 had it but not Sims 3. I have options to introduce myself, from other family Sims but no "leave" option of any kind.

Guess I just have to cheat.

Aren't they under the "Friendly" interaction? Ask to Leave?

I think it is even at the root menu of interactions once you've got visitors. "Ask to Leave" by default and "Ask Everyone to Leave" in addition if you've got more than one on your lot.
Apartments might be different because most of the areas on those lots are considered public, something like a community lot, so "Ask to Leave" might not be available if you have the visitors and interact with them in the lobby. But once inside the apartment per se, the option should be there.
