Potential build for Rosa
Regarding the floorplans I linked in my previous post, I wondered if it would actually fit better their backstory, as the house was extended in the early 90s. And what other adjustments could I make in the given floorplans?
Baumann
Thanks for the suggestions! Due to limited object space and Sims don't minding sports smells, I threw all hobby objects in one room, but I will keep it in mind in my other builds.
Gerstner apartment
I assume that many more RL floorplan layouts from old houses/apartments are nonsensical, so I usually go along with them because I think nonsense is part of the Sims charm, as long it stays functional. The DG is advertised as a potential studio, but I just left it "undeveloped". Sometimes I have to resort to spiral stairs due to lack of space, or because the RL reference also has spiral stairs (even though it isn't appropiate for apartments irl).

Potential build for Rosa
I did a quick search, but could not find the family description. Are they the family that you rather see as expats where the parents have university degrees and teenage children? If yes, I do not think that the house would be a good choice for them. I assume that they moved to their current house when the children were younger which was at some point during the 90s. It would not make sense to buy a house that immediately requires extensive modifications like an extension. Either they found an existing house that matches most of their expectations or they would have chosen to build a new house instead to completely match their expectations. An old house with a new extension would combine the disadvantages of both options - the risks and waiting times of a new construction and the outdated heating, insulation and electrical installation of an old building. As they only moved to the Veronaville area as adults, they also did not yet have any special ties to one village or another so that they had a bigger selection of houses/empty lots to choose from than other families would have had. It also does not sound too plausible that the extension was built by the previous owners as this would have been very shortly before selling the house.
Gerstner
Most RL buildings have better layouts. Strange layouts are more a problem of some very recent buildings as there seems to be some kind of trend to have studio apartments with more than 100 m². It should not be a problem to have a few older buildings with strange layouts, nevertheless, as long as the majority has better layouts.
The spiral stairs in the RL reference are not yet a problem as the DG is not an apartment and not accessible to the other tenants. If you do it the same way for your building, it should be fine. I assume that the stairs and the fire protection regulations might be the reason why the RL DG has not yet been turned into an apartment.
Other possible references
This link might help you to find more towns that you can use as reference: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis..._in_Deutschland
I did not check all the linked cities and towns, but amongst those that I did check, there were several with less than 5000 inhabitants.
If you still use RLP as reference for one of the subhoods, you also could use bordering regions of Elsass/Alsace as reference. During a recent trip to France, we e.g. drove through Weißenburg/Wissembourg and it looked suited to be a reference for one of the town subhoods.

I've been on a Simming break this summer due to circumstances, unfortunately
. Hence I haven't spent time on my hood for many weeks, which is a shame because I wanted to do more with my personal 20th Simmiversary.

Yes, my headcanon is that at least the father has a uni degree, hence I assume they are expats.
Can you help me finding an example of a suiting EFH for them? You can randomly pick an image (it can also be a Street View screenshot), and I will apply reverse image search on my own to find a similar-looking Immo, but well-kept, built in 70s - 90s, living space bigger than 140 m2, and at least 3 bedrooms.
Subhood references
Thanks for the tip! I think I can also use the Alsace towns as references for Windenburg.
Capp & Monty tragedy headcanons
Inspired by Cornyregans' Tumblr posts and your earlier reply here , I've set up a mix-n-match timeline of the tragedies, but I still have some questions left. And let me know if you also have any questions, additional suggestions, and/or find things unclear.
Spring 2004: Caliban & Cordelia
Preceding
* Cordula didn't understand, nor wanted to understand, why her father kept picking fights with Patrizio.
* She was so fed up with Julia's inability to choose love that Caliban set her up with his good friend Bianca.
* Caliban and Cordelia were supposed to meet up with Bianca in the Windenburg downtown hood to discuss ideas for settling the feud.
* Claudio had to leave his restaurant in Windenburg to visit his pregnant wife in the hospital. His siter Hero stepped in to cook and prepare a soup for a private booking.
* On the winding 100 km/h federal road, Karl and Cordula had a fatal collision with a tree when they swerved because Claudio was driving in the wrong lane.
Cause: Severe car accident, possibly aggravated by poor road conditions due to heavily rainy weather
Witness: Claudio (responsible for their death, but due to accident instead of malicious intentions)
Consequences:
* As Tybalt's reaction to the loss, he started a fight with Mercutio in the Veronaville village center.
* Juliette seeked contact with Romeo more often, and doesn't blame himself for the death of her parents.
* Juliette does blame Romeo's father for his driving.
* Juliette bears a grudge against Bianca.
* Hermia falls into a deep depression.
* Miranda was too occupied with being annoyed with her baby sister.
* Kent (living in Windenburg) went into denial part of grief when he lost his favorite sister Cordelia.
* Grandma Contessa was in deep mourning.
Questions:
* if a car accident remains the most plausible cause, what ghost color would fit them best?
* Do you have suggestions for a more plausible cause, albeit a car accident (even though it's not possible to recreate such an incident in-game)
Spring/Summer 2004: Claudio Monty
Preceding:
* He suffered a lot from chronic stress due to his unplanned pregnancy with Olivia, as they no longer wanted children.
* His involvement in Caliban's and Cordula's deaths left him with a great deal of guilt.
* To cope with the gossips spread in Veronaville, he spent a lot of time caring for his wife and running his restaurant, which led to him neglecting himself.
Cause: Suicide due to guilt about the car accident, and crippling depression/chronic stress.
Witness: Isabella (she found him first at their home)
Consequences:
* Olivia fainted when she heard the news of Claudio's suicide.
* Consort is annoyed about Claudio's "cowardness"
* Juliette doesn't blame Claudio as she understands his desperation
Questions
* How would the other Montys react to the death, in particular Isabella, Patrizio, Romeo and Mercutio? And how does this affect the friendship/situationship between Romeo and Juliette?
* What ghost color would suit him best?
Summer 2004: Olivia Monty and her unborn child
Preceding:
* After the death of her husband, Olivia remained being cared of by her in-law parents and her brother in-law Antonio.
* Patrizio, Isabella, and Antonio were out to take care of paperwork for the deceased Claudio.
Cause: Fatal pregnancy complications. (ghost color: green)
Witnesses: Antonio, Romeo, Mercutio.
Consequences:
Hero's mental health was severely affected, most likely caused by piled up traumatic events within a short time.
Questions
* How many weeks/months are there between the deaths of Claudio and Olivia?
* How would Romeo and Mercutio cope with the loss of their mother?
Fall 2004: Hero Monty
Cause: unknown -- she was missing but found in the river in the outskirts of the village
Witnesses: Benedict (he has found her when he was searching for her)
Questions
* How would this affect the behavior of the twins and other Monty family members?
* What's a plausible headcanon to find out the cause of death through searching for her ghost? See also Benedick's bio: "Benedick is the gentler half of Antonio's twins. Sensitive and kind, he may some day be essential to solving the question of his mother's death."
Late fall/early winter 2004: Contessa Capp
Preceding:
* Via landline phone, Contessa called Bianca on her cell phone. Between their call and Bianca's visit, they had contact through Kent
* Bianca and Kent were visiting her on a weekday, when Consort and the grandchildren were out for work and school. They agreed to leave when her grandchildren returned because of Tybalt's aggressive behavior towards any Monty.
* Contessa told Bianca that the late Cordelia was tired of the fighting between the two families, and wanted Juliette to pursue her love.
* When Contessa walked to the kitchen, she collapsed.
Cause: Health problems due to piled-up grief (ghost color: green)
Witnesses: Bianca, Kent
Consequences:
* Bianca tried to sneak out of the house via a forest path, but was just spotted by Juliette who just got home from school.
* Consort told his daughter Goneril first about the death of Contessa, but he couldn't tell his other daughter Regan right away, who lives in Windenburg. Regan only heard about the tragic news through her husband Cornwall.
* Kent fell back into the denial part of grief.
* Tybalt's anger issues became worse
* Hermia's depression got worse again and her grades are slipping.
* Juliette secretly sought intensive contact with Romeo through texting and/or ICQ chatting, and meeting up at neutral friends (like Puck or her good village friend Iris).
Questions
* In the end, how does this affect the day-to-day behaviors of the Monty and Capps in the form of obviously unhealthy coping mechanisms? (especially Bianca, Isabella, Patrizio, Consort and their teen grandchildren)
* During which village tragedies do the Summerdreams play a role in comforting and/or coping?

I hope that the unfortunate circumstances will be resolved soon. And sorry that it took me that long to respond, but I had several business and private trips
Rosa
Here is an example for a typical house of the 60s. They usually were constructed with pre-fabricated parts. This way of constructing a house was more typical for cities while in rural areas, houses still mostly were builded by the owners themselves (plus family members and friends). Nevertheless, the look is typical for houses from that period. The house might be slightly smaller than what you are looking for (but it has an average or above average size for that period), but should have 4-5 rooms.
Caliban & Cordelia
- Do you plan to call Cordelia Cordula and Caliban Karl? Their names in the German translation are Cordelia and Carsten.
- Who is Julia?
- Federal roads usually are not winding. Winding streets and streets that are dangerous for other reasons (like trees next to them) often have some kind of speed limit and even if there is no explicit speed limit, the German traffic regulations require drivers to drive with a speed that is adjusted to the situation (course of the road, snow, rain etc).
- Federal roads connect bigger towns and cities with each other. While it is not impossible that they go through a small village, it is rather unlikely. A winding road also usually has a speed limit lower than 100 km/h, often 70 km/h. The most common option would be a Kreisstraße (paid by the administrative district) or a Landstraße (paid by the state - would also require that it connects two places of at least some relevance). A Kreisstraße also could make an accident more likely, as those streets often are narrower than the other streets. Some even are so narrow that there is no painted line in the middle of the street which would make an accident as you described more likely. If the street is narrrow enough, it might look like this: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/...8n1POdwFB6Zqg&s
People are supposed to drive more in the middle of the street to avoid crashing into the trees. However, as the street is too narrow, when two cars are driving in opposing directions, they have to use the part of the street outside of the lines as well. If Claudio was too distracted, he probably stayed in the main part of th street causing the accident.
- What about the color of a sim who died from a satellite or from the murphy bed? Both deaths are caused by an impact and therefore somehow comparable to a car crash and ghosts with those reasons of death do not have a special behaviour so that there would be no animations that do not match their death.
- I do not have suggestions for another cause of death. I think we briefly discussed that topic a long time ago and I think it would be difficult trying to find another, more common type of accident that can kill two people at once and that was caused by another person.
Claudio Monty
- Would the family members really only react after Claudio's death and not already before due to how the accident affected him?
- Problems with mental health still have a stigma in Germany. Some people might be understanding, but many people, especially older ones are not (probably because many people had traumata after WW2, but treatment was not usual then and they passed some of the traumata on to their children who never got treatment either -I do not know whether this is also true for Italy, but I could imagine it is).
- The family maybe was quite busy to keep up with the restaurant and their daily lifes due to Olivia's sickness, having to replace the car that probably is needed for the business and with Claudio probably being unable to work due to injuries from the crash.
- I think that Patrizio and Isabella most likely would not show too much how much Claudio's death affects them, but deal with it themselves. For Romeo und Mercution, it will (at least partially) depend on how the relationship with the family was before Claudio's death. If their behaviour was determined by puberty, I assume that the death would worsen their behaviour and that they would not want to talk about the death to any of the adults within the family. If puberty did not affect their relationships with the family, they might be more open about their feelings.
- I assume that Romeo and Juliette would barely be able to see each other for a while. There are plenty of meetings and appointments after a death and they both had to move to another house and had to get used to a new environment and new custodians and at least for Consort Capp I do not think that he would like Juliette to meet friends (even without knowing that it is Romeo) too often during the first period after her parents' death. So they probably only have online contact during that period and by the time they are able to meet in person again, Claudio is already dead so that they can comfort and console each other and have somebody to talk to more easily than with the adults.
- I am not sure whether Consort really would think that Claudio is a coward. Due to the circumstances of the crash, I would assume that Claudio only would face a fine, but no worse legal consequences and I assume that Consort would be outraged about this prospect. So he would see Claudio's death probably as some form of justice.
- As you just wrote suicide: How do you think he killed himself? Disease has a choking animation. That could work if Claudio hanged himself. Fright and coffin scare do not have a special animation, but it could work if you think that even Claudio's ghost still is haunted by the memories of the crash and Cordelia and Caliban's death. Satellite and Murphy bed might work for an impact-related cause of death, but I am not sure whether this is a suitable cause of death after the car crash, as common ways of killing oneself would be jumping in front of a train, driving wrong way on the Autobahn and crashing with a truck and jumping from a high place. I would assume that Claudio would not choose a type of suicide that involves other people (like train and truck drivers) and there probably is no high building nearby. Maybe just take grey as Claudio wished to be dead and that is the color of the Wishing Well death. If I had to choose, I might go for a death type that is not directly related to how he did it, but one related to his motivation (fright, scare and wishing).
Olivia Monty
- I know that according to the memories, Claudio died first, but to me it would make more sense if Olivia died first and her death also contributed to Claudio's decision to kill himself. Maybe, to keep the order of the memories, she is diagnosed as brain dead, but her body is kept alive with machines (e.g. because the baby still was alive, but later also dies or because the family decides to donate Olivia's organs) and when Claudio learns about her death (and the baby's) he kills himself and afterwards Olivia's machines are turned off. In that situation, there would be just a few days between Olivia and Claudio's deaths. That order would explain why Claudio was so worried about Olivia's condition that he got distracted while driving.
- Even if you want to keep the order of events, I think a period of very few days would be the most realistic one as otherwise it would be difficult to explain why nobody in the family noticed something and intervened somehow.
- So you do not want to go with the story of Claudio simply not taking care well of himself after the crash which leads to a death of starvation (or mayby thirst) like you suggested in one of your previous postings?
- I think they would talk more to each other (and other close friends like Juliette) than to adults and probably be a bit more rebellious than usual for a while and frown when aquaintances from the village pity them. I am not sure whether they really would be sad about the death of their unborn sibling. I knew some teenagers whose parents unexpectantly got pregnant again and they thought that it was extremely awkward and embarrassing and when a miscarriage happened, they even were a bit happy about it (but of course, the mother recovered and did not die).
Hero Monty
- I think that Beatrice and Benedick would be more open to talk about Hero's death to the adults of the family than Mercutio and Romeo after their parents' death. I also think that Antonio would reach out to Isabella and Patrizio and ask them to help caring for the children. So this death probably brings the family closer together.
- What do you mean by finding out the cause of death through searching for her ghost? I assume that for an unnatural death, there will be official investigations that at least will clear the cause of death. If Hero e.g. drowned (like you suggested in one of your older postings), that cause of death would be known and the color of the ghost would not provide additional information. What Benedick might search for are the circumstances regarding that downing. Was she alone and e.g. just went swimming too quickly after eating something/after being in the sun for too long/while having another sudden health problem or was another sim around and might have killed her by downing her.
Contessa Capp
I do not think that it would be good if Bianca tries to sneak out of the house. In Germany, you are legally required to help when other people have an emergency. So when Contessa collapses, Bianca at least has to call an ambulance and ensure that they can get into the house. So if Bianca would leave like you described, the Capps could rightfully be upset and also file charges against her ("unterlassene Hilfeleistung").
I think the Summerdreams will comfort any affected sim whenever there is need to comfort somebody. At the same time, they only listen when one site is badmouthing the other site, but do not participate.

@ralna thank you for coming back at me! The unfortunate life circumstances have settled enough that I can take a bit more time for Simming.
I don't see a link to an image of a 60s prefab house. Can you edit or send it again?
I have to process and analyze your answers and suggestions, as my most recent post is also already from last summer, so I will come back at it at a separate reply.
* Julia is my Germanized version for Juliette. Forgot to correct it in my post to make it more understandable for English/universal readers.
* In my headcanon, I renamed Cordelia and Caliban based on most common pre-war first names instead of German TS2 names. I forgot to rename them back to universal/English names.
* The pic of the narrow road looks like Dutch countryside roads! In my country, they have a speed limit of 60 km/h and it's also used by pedestrians and cyclists.
