Default [SOLVED] Hair default replacement problem: persistent thumbnail
Hello everyone.

I'm in the process of default replacing most of the hairs from the base game and the expansions, and I've encountered a problem.

Even though the replacements work great, I'm having the following problem in the "hat" category: the thumbnails are still the default ones.

The process has been the same for all items, replacing the thumbnails along. You can see in the images attached that the problem is only visible in the "hats" category.

I have been exploring the package file for the default replacement, and I've identified the problem to be the presets.

If I categorize the item as normal, not hat, the thumbnail displays correctly, but the accessories are no longer recolorable.

If I delete the presets, the thumbnail displays correctly, but the entire thing becomes borked: the hair / scalp become partially transparent, the colors are all over the place, and more.

If I export the presets from the CC source and import them into the default replacement package, the thumbnail remains as the EA one.

I've even tried opening the DR package in TSRW, to see if I could assign a specific thumbnail for the first preset, but that didn't work, because the whole mesh disappeared, the sim was bald.

So I'm out of ideas, and I was wondering if any of you could help me out with this.

Thanks for reading!

OF COURSE IT'S THOSE PIGTAILS!!!!!!!!!!

IF the thumbnails are numbered correctly, you can try moving the CAS Thumbnails package, located in the thumbnails folder, to desktop. It takes a while for all of the thumbnails to regenerate. If everything is ok, just delete the old thumbnails package.

Shiny, happy people make me puke!

Thanks for your reply!

I forgot to add: I delete all cache files (including the CAS Thumbnails) before every test I ran. This is a test folder, so I don't care about losing any data.

Also, I did the screenshot of the god forsaken pigtails because that's the only one I had left in the Mods folder at the time of the screenshot, and I couldn't be asked to shut down the game, move files, restart the game. But this happens with ALL hairs in the "hats" category that I have replaced so far.

It looks like you're using MC CAS Compact Mode- making it easy to forget that every hat hair typically has three presets and three thumbnails- which S3OC won't pull when cloning.

@LadySmoks suggestion was right on the money- but specifically the CASThumbnails in your installation folder, not the My Documents directory. Move this package somewhere safe, boot the game and let the game write new thumbnails to the My Documents thumbnails location. When all of them have appeared for the hairs you want, quit the game and look through the cached package to export the thumbnails for each preset and include those with your defaults.
Restore the CASThumbnails package to the installation directory when you are done.
