Default [SOLVED] Chainmail transparency issues
Hello. I am editing Skeletalscream's hijab to make a chainmail coif. The transparency works in TSRW, but it is fully opaque in game. I followed the tutorials on here and made a white on black texture for transparency map, but it's not working.
The sim I'm testing it on has no other accessories on, so there is no texture conflicting with the coif. Applying cas patterns also works fine. How do I get my multiplier to show up?

Hi there

There are a couple of small problems.
A) The meshes need to use a shader that supports transparency. SimHair or the unnamed 0xDC077A45 accessory shader are generally used for this. That can be changed directly in S3PE, not sure if TSRW supports editing GEOM shaders the same way.
B) Your textures should be in square resolutions (ie. 1024x1024), the current 1214x1217 resolution may cause graphical oddities.

Sadly, IF garment/ accy shaders can be edited in TSRW, I have not seen or figured out how. If I ever find a way, I'll post it. What I do in that situation is an extra step, but worth it for editing purposes.

Edit the shader in S3PE as @CardinalSims said, then open your package with the new shader in TSRW. Save it and work from that. Any future changes you make, will have the shader, and you won't need to change it in S3PE everytime you need to change something in TSRW.

Transparency shaders I use are CAS Hair Simple 0xA7B368FB (2813552891), transparency shader 0xDC077A45 (3691477573) which aren't in the S3PE drop menu. CAS Hair IS in Delphy's geom editor. Also, SimHair works for some things.

I'm having trouble with the shader. I get "found no suitable entires in package" when opening the geom-edited package.

Edit: The chainmail texture is showing up, but not the transparency. I resized it to 1024x1024.

Did you use the full shader ID, as the examples I showed? The transparency shader that EA uses a lot is 0xDC077A45 (3691477573). You must paste it to S3PE exactly as I have it, including ( ) around last numbers.

The other thing I found when I had a chance to look at your workfile, is that you did not turn on transparency. Took me a while to figure that out when I first started doing them, so no biggie.

If you have WA and/ or EP7, the Egypt necklace or the EP7 party necklace, already use transparency. Another thing that I personally think would make the chainmail stand out is that both also use a normals map, which pearl earrings does not. Both necklaces can have morphs, but if you just replace with a .wso that doesn't have morphs, it still will work.

Yes, I pasted 0xDC077A45 (3691477573) into S3PE and I get the same error even after enabling transparency. I get an "error object reference not set to an instance of an object" when trying to open the ep7 party necklace. The WA and EP7 accessories don't show up in my s3oc.

I'm using murfeel's vintage veil accessory since I know it has the transparency map. I can't open it in tsrw, so I edited it through s3pe. I replaced the geoms and textures with the coif's. The transparency is now working in game, but the texture is pitch black. It's hard to tell what texture does what in S3PE since they don't have names. I also can't open this new package in tsrw, only s3pe. How do I fix this?

Do you have those EP's? Mufree's accy is using the EP7 groups. I don't think TSRW or S3OC can open things they don't have reference to. I have never quite understood what that error means. I've gotten it when reopening a package I had just made. Something gets borked, and I end up remaking everything.

As for knowing what you're looking at in s3pe, use MTK to "name those files" in the package. You can change the name, I often just use 1, so the name is shorter. I change it for my final uploads though.

The texture was black, because the package used 4 color rgba mask, and the preset for alpha was black. Try a different version of TSRW. I keep 4 versions on desktop.

Yes, I have all the EP's. I think I'm just having these problems because I got the game for free, if you know what I mean.

Thank you for your help! I totally forgot about the preset. I lightened the color and it's all good now.

Yea, getting things from Jack Sparrow don't always work.
