Default CAW keep crashing when editing world vertex count
Hello.
I have a problem with WorldBuilderCS application, which allows CAW to edit worlds in various other ways. Currently I try to recreate Hidden Springs, a store world. I followed the instructions of editing a premade world from here, and saved as the world with new name. The first thing I was going to do is edit the vertex count of the world, but the program keeps crashing every time I want to save the world. This perhaps dont happens withediting the vertex of non-store worlds such as Bridgeport, with with I dont have that problem. It don't even want to open the world, because it became corrupted after the crash . Luckily I make backups of the world in separate folder in other partition like disk D. Can someone explain to me why this happens.

I have the latest version of CAW and even the latest version of the WorldBuilderCS. Both programs run in Windows 7 comptability mode and aplied to run like administrator. I have Windows 10, Intel Core i7 10th gen and 8GB RAM.

What resolution are you trying to change the vertex count to? If you are increasing it for high and low LODs substantially, it could be that you are asking the program to perform beyond its 4GB limit.

Thank you for replying, but I solve this problem already after restarting the computer several times and replacing the world files with backups. Current High LOD max chunk vertices and max vertices are 35000 and 419840. I change them to 50000 and 450000, almost the same thing on Low LODs. I know that the program has 4GB memory limit because its 32 bits, but when I was doing the same thing on non-store world there was not such a problem.

Actually do you know is ther any chance EA to publish 64bit version of sims 3 for Windows because the whole performance of the game and other programs such as this is awful?

Remember though that this figure is max vertices per chunk- just for the terrain alone. Other factors will influence the world complexity, such as decorations and terrain paints per chunk, and also the elevation of the chunk geometry will affect the complexity too.
You should really keep the low LOD figure substantially lower than the high LOD figure too; no point rendering high complexity terrain in such detail when zoomed out. All of this will have an effect on the world performance.

I doubt it very much; EA don't seem to allow third party software companies to adopt their old titles, so Sims 1, 2 and 3 are pretty much stuck at 32 bit.

Thank you for the advice. Actually my attempt to increase low lod vertices per chunk is because the roads seems to be distorted from distance, like lifted up or broken idk. I will keep that in mind not to increase them too much but only to fix that kind of problems.

I hope it turns out to your satisfaction, I'd love to see some pictures when you have made it! Good luck.

My understanding is not likely. Only reason they did 64 bit for MAC, is that Apple dropped support for 32 bit, and EA wants the future cash flow. Personally, I'd love TS3 64 bit, but never as a dl only.

I think they should have made the game only for 64-bit platforms in the first place, regardless of it is Windows or Mac before publishing it. The 64-bit version is a must for such applications in my opinion, because 32bit is limited in resourses. And I don't why they waited so long to make 64bit version but only for Mac because Apple dropped support for 32 bit.

As I understand it, they knew 64 bit was out at the time of release, but went 32 bit so people with those computers could buy. All about cash NOW, worry about other things later, which IS how EA patches work. Put out product you know is faulty and fix it later, but get that money. Face it, there are a lot of things that don't work in TS3 without Nraas mods, and no patch ever fixed.
