It's possible that there will come a day when 32-bit software will no longer be compatible with, or catered for by, newer/future Windows OS (I mean look at what happened to Mac players) and EA will be forced to put out a (broken) 64-bit version of The Sims 3 for PC/Windows players. I wouldn't be surprised... :/

I've just come to the conclusion that some people can't conceive of TS3 running really well because they simply can't or won't take the time to put in the effort that is required to get TS3 to run nicely. Should we have to? No, of course not, but the fact remains that you need to.
These people seem to want the game to play perfectly on the most mediocre laptap available with hungreds of gb's of custom content, and then wail when their game runs like utter crap. I ran TS3 on a very low end computer for years, and I was aware of the limitations. I never played on maximum settings, on lots that were over 30x30, I didn't play large custom worlds filled with foliage or extra CC, and I never crammed my game full of content that I knew would slow it down, but there are some that do, and just refuse to learn that you can't do that without consequence unless you're willing to take the time to install the mods that TS3 really does need to run nicely. Even then ( in my opinion ) you should be careful what you install into the game if you want it to keep running well.

I have a top of the line PC now ( or I did, two years ago, its probably outdated by now ) but my CC folder is still only 4gb big, and I'm discerning in what kind of content I put into the game, simply because I like it to run nicely. Some of our games do run well because we take care, and that isn't a lie.

Are the Sims and Sims 2 re-releases 64-bit?

Sims 3 desperately needs to be 64-bit, but it does appear that we're not getting love for that this cycle. My Sims 3 game has run smoothly for a long time. I think one of the most important things people need to have is a frame rate limiter.

Now that I have a completely excessive Mac for other reasons, I've installed with Codeweavers Crossover, and it does in fact run amazingly. I think one will always need NRaas Overwatch and ErrorTrap to handle game bloat and save file bloat.

I know that Sims 3 is still for sale via Steam and EA App, but is anyone really buying them? It just seems weird to me. There are a lot of Sims 3 players around, and lots of us would pay for a 64-bit rerelease. Though I'm not sure I would for a DRM-locked, always-internet version. I'm still hanging out on 1.67

@Pary Well, ok, if I can't play Praaven on a 16gb ram laptop, using s3pe, ccmagic, nraas, fps limiter, the fixes and 10gb ultra compressed cc to have the most basic clothes and hairstyles. I prefer not to play the sims 3. The rest of the things related to a normal conteporary game style are more or less offered to me by sims 2.

Even so, I'm so stubborn that I'll try to port my current configuration to the other, more powerful desk computer, maybe I'll even try the new update that supposedly makes it work better on new computers... This is the 5th time I try to get this game running, maybe this time I've compressed everything better... Anyway.

I'm not entirely sure whether you were trying to prove or refute my post, and you don't say if your game runs nicely or not with all that CC and on a laptop, but my main point I was trying to illustrate, is that people aren't lying when they say that their own Sims 3 game runs nicely.

I don't compress any of my CC beyond running larger files through Compressorizer but if you have a lot of content and your game is running poorly, perhaps it might help if you checked out the polycount of some of the stuff you're downloading? It might help to get your game to run better if you put it on your desktop.

What I wanted to say is that I have tried more or less the same thing on both computers and it is impossible to get it to work correctly, and I give up. I'm not going to argue whether people can play it or not, I assume they can play with the bare minimum, but not with what this game could really offer. Reading anywhere people saying something similar to what I say is not unusual, so I know that I am not talking nonsense, I am just insulting your house and it is normal that it bothers you. I wish I could enjoy this game sometime.

There are a couple of Praaven remakes... Praaven 2 and Praaven Reworked (I think). I don't have links handy, but probably just Googling them will find them both, if you wish to give those a try.

I have "Reworked" and I love it, but unfortunately it doesn't support the number of families I have, I will still test if all the effort I put into setting it up this week could work on my desktop computer.

I do not get new computers that often but when I do get good ones. I play 3 beautifully at darn near if not top settings and have been able to play the game well on everything including 2 laptops, one that I am on right now. I use Nraas MC and overwatch. I clean caches. I have all my CC that I can in packages and have it sorted so maybe put only a few hundred (um, or maybe thousands) of items in the game depending on the save/world I am playing. My family is about 36 generations and would be well over 100 if I did not build so much and spent half my life in CAW which I love. And I have played 4 a bit. I use the standard EA story progression and someone said way back when that helps with game bloat or whatever.

As I have said more times than I can remember, it is a shame that some cannot play 3 well, but most can or it would have not have survived through ITF. And people with problems post far more than people with none. That is human nature. 3 is playable for most of us who have hardware that meets the requirements.

I play on a laptop (it is a few years old), I use most Nrass mods, alot of other mods (alot), and alot of CC (no i am not a addict ) and I do have lag here and there, and an occasional crash if I am in CAS to long, but I can play 3 just fine (mostly high settings). I have seen many posts that Praaven can be difficult to run smoothly, maybe because it is so spread out and no roads. I have Bigger Better Island for creating sims and working on builds so I am not doing it as much in my saves.
