Do you have a mod to allow facial features on babies? Unmodded, all babies that don't have the EA alien face template have identical faces until you age them up to toddler. I know there is a mod that changes that, so my guess would be that that mod is having some strange interaction with whatever face template your sim (or your alien) uses.

It's not really "a" mod as in one spesific mod, but edited face templates. You can find those edited for default hoods, default maxis templates, non-default templates, etc.

It's likely something went wrong between the face template the sim uses, and the template the baby uses.

Try deleting the cache files. Then try taking the baby to a mirror via a mod* (make the baby selectable, select "change appearance". Do some change like selecting eyebrows - thumbnails are usually invisible, and you won't see the change until you click yes). If this doesn't fix the baby, there's a problem in one of the templates. Might fix itself if the baby grows to toddler, though.

Could be an idea to test if this particular sim/sim template and another sim (not alien) also get babies with broken faces (you don't need to save the game, just run a pregnancy sped up with a mod and quit without saving after the baby is born). If so, it's most likely an issue with this sim's template.

If it doesn't happen again with that sim, it could be an issue with the alien replacement you have.

If you've never had the issue with the PTs, try to get the sim pregnant with another non-alien sim. If this too causes a broken infant face, the sim's baby face template is broken.

Technically, all the default templates are kinda "broken" for infants, in that the infant faces show the same face for all non-alien babies. For templates without edited infant faces, normally those would just end up as the default baby face. The only time baby faces blend (and end up looking different) in an unmodded game is with the alien baby face, since the PT has a different attached baby face template.

Try notifying the creator. Either send them a PM, or let them know in the comments of the original download topic.

It's likely just an issue with the baby face, but I'm fairly sure it's going to be an issue with all the baby faces linked to that parent sim, so all the future babies of the parent sim and their future kids again will have some sort of issue with the baby faces.

Shouldn't cause trouble with your game other than buggy babies. It's just a buggy face, so only sims made with that template will be affected (that template sim, edited sims using the template or having been blended with the template in CAS/Bodyshop, and kids/descendants of these sims). It can spread if the sim has kids and those kids have kids, and so on - but it won't spread to unrelated sims, or cause any big fireballs of doom.

Sim templates are usually installed in the Downloads folder, so I assume that's where you've put the sim (and the separate template, if there is one?). Sim template files usually look something like this ("f4237cda_5483fcb2.package") and the sims show up in the sim bin with full sims in CAS and Bodyshop. A standalone face template likely has a more readable name (these would show up in the face morphing selection in CAS and Bodyshop). I'd think the sim and template have the same issue.

I assume it's possible to fix broken faces in SimPE for already made sims, but haven't tried doing it.

Once a sim has been made with a template and is in the game, they kind of get a copy of the template in their sim file, and will keep this regardless of whether you remove the downloaded files or not. Both the downloaded sim and the template file are just templates, so the issue won't be fixed by removing the files. You can remove the sim and template so you make sure you don't make other sims with the bug, though. You may also want to keep the sim from having more kids, if the baby face issue is a problem and you don't want it to spread.

No, the sim gets a copy of the template in their file, not the template itself, so that sim and their descendants will be stuck with the broken version even if the template gets fixed (descendants will get a blended broken template).

You can fix it for future sims in the template, though.

You can also swap out older sims' faces using the plastic surgery item + SimPE, so if you have a fixed template that's likely the way to go from there.
