Default Unable to save edit-in-game (EIG)
Hi everyone,

I'm unable to save my CAW file in game. I've been working on this file for months without this problem occuring. The file has been exported and played multiple times. During that time, I was working on my laptop (system specifications: Acer Aspire Intel core 7; Intel UHD Graphics; 32 GB RAM).

Since about a week ago I've been working on a new PC (system specifications: AMD Ryzen 7; NVidea Gforce RTX4060; 32 GB RAM). It's a standalone PC. The graphics card of the laptop is an integrated intel and I hoped the PC would work better. In addition, I hoped the PC would allow for higher screen and detail settings compared to my laptop. This turned out to not be the case.

I save my CAW files on a USB drive. On the PC, I managed to finish and export it once. However, now I'm unable to save adjustments in edit-in-game. Even older versions I'm unable to save. When I press the save button, after about two minutes, edit-in-game crashes and I'm send back to the CAW screen. No error notifications occur. Then the plot(s) I've placed in edit-in-game are lost.

I've tried multiple things: refresh the global layer, placing just one plot at a time, clean caches everytime, delete half of my world, trying several old saves, close CAW in the background. But without success.

I suspect something got corrupted, but I cannot figure out what. Does anyone have a similar experience / can anyone help me out?

Hi,
Did you try saving the world under a new name on your new PC? That should clear out any corrupted data or conflicts. For example, if the world name is X, save it as X1. After that, delete world X. Then save world X1 as X again.
Years ago, I had the same problem when I migrated my CAW data to a new PC—renaming the worlds helped me a lot.

You can try using this fix. https://direct.modthesims.info/t/sh...ad.php?t=453161
It's the only way I can use Edit in Game since the EA app came on the scene. Just remember to have CAW and Sims 3 game NOT running while using it. Just go to your .world file for the world you are working on and drag/drop it onto the batch file. Works like a charm (at least for me).

Thank you, certainly true, but in my case, I always rename my worldsfiles, every time, because of the back-ups, so I will know what I did with a certain name.

Thanks! I already replied, but I don't see my reply. Anyway, certainly going to try that. Thank you for sharing.

Hello again,

My world could not be rescued by any fix. So i started my world from scratch, and i learned a few important things.

The most important lesson for me is that i should avoid adjusting anything in edit-in-game. Ajusting in edit-in-game is not a good idea at all. Because everytime something will stick somewhere, useless leftovers, and those leftovers will cause errors.
So now i try to prepare everything seperate, so i can place it and save. All the buildings in Library and sims in Porter files, also in Library.
And this method is also the most difficult part, because some issues can only be found out by playing with it, that means that i have to do it over and over again. In the phase off empty buildings I can save the world in steps, check very thorough, and when i find the slightest modification needed, i can go back one step.

But when i place Sim-households, there is no return possible. You need a sim to place sims and every sim leaves behind something to stick on the global layer. I can only recognize the thumbnails, little portaits of the sims, snap files in s3pe.
The best method for me is to use one particular and notable sim to place everyone else, and also do adjustments like houshold budget, through that one sim, Nraas Master Controller and the townhall. Because the active sim will leave lots of snap-files in the global layer, this way i can delete a huge number off snaps (using s3pe).

I don't understand much about the way CAW files are built up, so it stays trial and error for me.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. In the Create Forum, there is an entire section for CAW, where those guys might see your post and be able to help you better than in this section.

Shiny, happy people make me puke!
