This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default I think smooth patch might have broke my CAS
For context, I installed the latest smooth patch by LazyDuchess a few days ago. Before I did, CAS had no problems at all. After downloading and adding the smooth patch to my Sims 3 game, it caused some problems in CAS mode, such as being unable to switch to a different top (while in the winter category), couldn't zoom out, and this black square thingy I encountered today. And then my game crashed when I tried to exit CAS.

According to my research, it seems like smooth patch and nraas conflict with each other. I took out the smooth patch from my mods folder, but kept the nraas master controller (including integration, debug enabler, and traveler). Even when I tried that, it's still causing the same thing. Can't change the outfit, can't zoom out, and then the UI turns into black squares. I don't know how to fix this issue to the point CAS is unplayable, and it has been frustrating to figure out what is causing this.

If anyone knows how to solve this issue, it would be much appreciated. 🙏

you could try it without any mods installed (i.e backup your current The Sims 3 folder and create a fresh one without re-installing the game) and see if the CAS is still glitched.

Remember that Smooth Patch has more than just a Mods folder component, it isn't removed by deleting the .package. You would have to delete all of files installed to the Bin folder, too.

That aside, the current version of Smooth Patch is compatible with NRaas.
Remove all old patch files and install the latest version from MTS, then try testing with only the patch and NRaas mods installed. It should be fine- but if the issue returns when you add the rest of your mods, you know it's something else.

I see, I'll test that out later tonight. As for what you said earlier, by deleting all of the files from the Bin folder, do you mean every file in the folder? Will the files reappear when I open the Sims 3 Launcher?

No, just the ones installed with the Smooth Patch. You can check the download for what the files are called, and any extras that were generated can be identified by their file date.

If you have an EA App or Steam install, they have Repair Game / Verify Game Files options that can replace necessary files even if they're accidentally deleted.
With a retail disc installed, you have to be a bit more careful

Just make a folder on desktop and drag items to it. That way, if you accidentally grab a wrong file, you can just put it back. But as @CardinalSims says, open a fresh Smooth Patch to compare files. Lazy Dutchess is around here, but you can also ask on her blog and maybe at Nraas about conflicts. I also heard you can try going back to Smooth Patch 1.0.

Hello everyone, thank you so much for the help! I did what @CardinalSims said, I removed the files that came with smooth patch 2.1 and put them in a separate folder. I opened up CAS and started creating my sims, and there weren't any bugs at all! Even though CAS is slow and laggy at times, it's better than not being able to change into different clothes. I'll just stick with keeping that way for now, until I'll consider to getting a new PC.
