Default [WCIF] Sims 3 CC Hair: Long Half-Updo with Bow, Spiky Side Ponytail (2010s)
Hi everyone!

Sorry for the low-quality images — they’re all I have left of this old Sims 3 CC hairstyle I used years ago. It was available in the early to mid-2010s, but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere recently.

I’ve already checked creators like PeggyZone, Raonjena, NewSea, LeahLilith, Anto, and Daisy, but no luck. I did find the hair again on some old uploads to the Exchange, but I don’t want to download from there because of the risk of corrupt files (like the Girl Doll Dressed bug).

I’m only looking for a safe link or mirror (creator blog, Sims3Updates, MTS, Tumblr archive, etc.). I understand it may be discontinued or lost, but I’d at least like to know who the creator was.

The hairstyle is long and straight, with a half-up style and a recolorable bow at the crown. The ponytail is a little spiky and leans a little to the left, and it has short side-parted bangs.

If anyone recognizes it or still has it saved, I’d be so grateful!

Can you post the link to the exchange download where the hair was used? You can just separate the hair from the rest of the content safety, if you don’t know how post the link here and I’ll give you just the hair.

I haven't been able to access the Sims 3 Exchange for a few hours because it says that the site is down for maintenance. When it comes back up, I can send the links.

Thank you so much! I knew it had to be a Peggy hair, but for some reason, I couldn't find it!

How do you separate the hair from the rest of the content? I assume you can do that with clothes too.

Yes, you can, with Delphy's Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extracter

Although you'll have to use the S3PE Package Editor to identify the extracted CC

I used Delphy's Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extractor to extract a few Sims 3 Packs, which worked well. Then I tried using S3PE to identify the extracted cc, and I got a pop-up saying "This file does not contain the expected package identifier in the header. This could be because it is a protected package e.g/ a Store item) a Sims3Pack or some other random file."

I checked to make sure that none of those extracted files came from a pack that included store items. There was one residential lot that didn't cause that pop-up, but it showed all numbers. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you’re not doing anything wrong, store items will always show up like this, because they haven’t been decrapped and decrapped content can do the same. Just ignore/delete these files, and you can look at the sims3pack in Multi-Extracter and if you check the box on the left on all the content you don’t want, then save, you can remove stuff you don’t want before you extract it all.

As far as “all numbers” go, you have to rename any extracted cc yourself. Only single extracted sims3packs that contain no other content will be renamed, if you have the box checked to do so ☺️

My problem is that the Sims 3 Packs I extracted with Delphy's Multi-Extracter (that don't contain any Sims 3 store stuff) will get a pop-up in S3PE saying "This file does not contain the expected package identifier in the header. This could be because it is a protected package e.g/ a Store item) a Sims3Pack or some other random file."

I have one extracted Sims 3 Pack that does have Sims 3 Store stuff that doesn't show that pop-up in S3PE, but it shows a bunch of numbers/codes with no images or anything to identify anything.

I hope this makes sense.

I think and hope I can help with the confusion. Sadly I have no longer access to my thesims3.com account, and because of that can't test my theory, but I remember that there was a difference between the "Add To Game" & the "Save File" download button. Especially when it comes to the attached custom content. If you use the "Save File" button, all attached custom content is unusable. It will either be shown as corrupt/ broken in Custard and/or won't open with s3pe. It will give you the following message, the one blondiewarrior95 is describing too:

"This file does not contain the expected package identifier in the header. This could be because it is a protected package (e.g. a Store item), a Sims3Pack or some other random file."

No matter if it's an actual store item or not. They'll all be treated equally as that.

However, if you download the exchange item using the "Add To Game" button, it will use the launcher to download (The .Sims3Pack can be found in the "Downloads" folder) and now it should be possible to open and use the attached custom content. Don't ask me why and how but that's what I remember.

I hope I was able to help somehow. 😅
