Default occupied hoods
I like playing occupied hoods, but got bored with the usual story-line (& Maxis characters, and sloppy writing). There is a big list on Wiki but looks like no one is keeping it up. Aileen is a new one, it IS released, looks interesting but I'm sorta fraid of all the custom stuff...it's available but not updated.
SO any favs?

There's a lot of neighborhoods here: https://modthesims.info/downloads/t...=0&packs=523775

My favorites are probably Polgannon (Small British village, murder mystery) https://modthesims.info/d/562803/po...-whodunnit.html and Emerald Heights (bigger city with lots of drama) https://modthesims.info/d/584335/em...ject-no-cc.html

I wasn't planning to make an occupied version of that one though.

Oops. I read occupied as 'has houses and isn't just terrain'. XD

Right, and wrong(about the dumb). Her Majestic the Pat holds the record for dumb (on the up-side, I can blame it on my age)

And my dear M.Sample, I have played those 2 you mentioned, one of those is your "little one"?

And I've about given up finding a new one that I can tolerate, considering how critical I am.

Time to make your own, I think! Plenty of empty worlds to download, or you could download a terrain and fill it with lots yourself.

True. But since I can't get Body Shop to load I have to reinvent most of my sims ,,ALIENS abound!

Make them in CAS?

Body Shop is only needed imo if you want to upload the sim and/or have a saved sim. And there are so many custom sliders around that I doubt if you would miss the extra ones in Body Shop.

You can even make your sims in CAS if you make a custom hood from scratch AND upload that hood as long as it meets the requirements.

The reason I like body shop is so that I have a template for my many "aliens" - I spend a lot of time on them, and play my "special Sims" in a number of hoods.

I seem to remember you having problems with Body Shop not loading - if you can't fix that, I think it is simply a decision or whether you want to play a hood with your own CAS sims in it or not.

As populated hoods go, I get it - I often don't like the stories, or the characters, or the lots - I have kind of given up on that. I like making my own sims and build my own lots and them sometimes I don't like my own lots either.

I have a suggestion for you, though:

If you pick a custom hood with no sims in it, you can consider the Beginning Shopping hoods - I thoroughly enjoyed playing Bluewater Village, and I pointedly ignored all the things that were supposed to happen (I mean, what is the point of starting over if the sims end up in the exact same place)? Played it for some time too, then my pc broke and I lost that one.

I also think it is a good way to get back into playing, and perhaps you can solve the Body Shop issue some time.

Those sims should show up in CAS too, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by 'template'? I have sims in my SavedSims folder that I can use as a base in CAS or bodyshop.

Uh no. I've made hundreds of aliens, and more realistic "normal" people. I have a default "pick a face" but they are almost exactly the same (as Maxis). Saved sims..will have to go find that.

Is this what you mean?
In Bodyshop, you click 'build sims' and choose from one of your 'templates'

Well yes, that's the idea about Body Shop; I can save the Sim I made so I can use (or misuse) in various hoods. But I have not been able to OPEN bodyshop! And don't know why I'm still looking for another populated hood; I never like the community lots, or the houses, or colleges. And (guided only by what the creator wrote about various Sims) I change Sims LTW, skills, etc etc. And facial structure (which I make genetic).

The icon of 6 stacked people in CAS (attached image in simsample's post) will show the same sims as Bodyshop (either made in Bodyshop or downloaded, as long as the sim template files are present in SavedSims or Downloads).

The #2 option in CAS shows available heads that use a spesific skintone (or the skintone the shown sim currently uses, I think?). Something of the sort, anyway. I think it pulls heads from the CAS sim bin, along with the already available maxis heads.

If you want more templates for your sims, there's also non-default face templates (in addition to default replacement ones). There are likely several alien faces available, and they're mix&matchable.

Yes, and what I'm saying is, if you saved them in bodyshop, they are there in create-a-sim too- and I've showed you in pictures exactly what to click to see them.

So you can use the template sims you already made to continue making sims in CAS.

what am i missing. Yes, if I make a Sim in Body Shop and save it, I could go into CAS & see that Sim I just made --and work from that one. BUT if I make a SIM in CAS it's a one shot deal - that finished sim won't show up in CAS as a pre-made. And Hello I can't open Body Shop

Oh, okay- I was trying to explain to you how to do just that- as you said:

So I thought you were saying that you didn't know how to access the sims you made already with bodyshop, in CAS.

BUT- you can do what you're asking without Bodyshop- I do it often. You can just open a neighbourhood that has a sim you want to use as a template in SimPE. Then use Alt Sim Surgery to export the sim template. Voila- you can use that sim in CAS to make another. That's how I made all of the files you saw in my previous screenshot (the sims were all made in CAS).

SimPE --that's the answer!Aw ooo. I will see if I can figure these simple instructions.
Thanks

uuuu no. I do have the PE icon on my desktop, but the choice of "alt sim surgery" is not obvious...
