Default Identifying cc Sims Characters in CAS
Is there a way to connect the names of Sims2Pack files to the cc Characters displayed in CAS?
For example, if there are 4 cc Batmans in CAS and Saved Sims, how can I tell which is which Pack file?

After a Pack file is opened, where is the cc sim stored in the game files?
After opening, a Pack file can be moved or even deleted in any location.
If a cc sim is deleted in CAS it doesn't show up in the Pack files still in the game.

I hope I'm clear in what I'm asking.

If you open a Sims2Pack with Clean Installer it's installed straight into your Downloads folder.

You should be able to match any CC that came with the Batmans by checking what's in the Pack file against what's in your Downloads folder. Then if you want to delete the char you can just do it in CAS or Bodyshop.

You shouldn't have any Sims2Pack files in your Downloads folder. The game doesn't read them.

Easiest way is to pack them in Bodyshop (or open them if you already have the packed files), and look at the items packed with Clean Installer. The Sims2pack file pulls all the items (except default replacements and accessory meshes). If you install the CC (and sim) it goes into your Downloads folder.
(Don't use the original package installer that ships with the game, it more often than not renames half the files to unrecognizable strings of digits, and you can't see the files before you install).

The "sim" (or face) file is the one with 8+8 characters, something like "7524b50b_74903e2a.package" - all instances of sims made in Bodyshop (even if they're identical) get new numbers.

If you want a particular sim out of the ones in CAS but have several near-identical ones, the easiest way is to pull out the sims you don't want to use (it's enough to temporarily remove the face/sim file, you don't need to remove all the CC). It's easier if you keep all sims and their CC individually foldered.

The sims often tend to get mixed up in CAS, even if they sort nicely in Bodyshop (it uses the sortindex number like other CAS items, but generally shows the last made first). I've found the easiest way is to put different clothes on them, an accessory that's easy to remove in CAS, or some other way to make them stand out.

When installing sims, I put all the files that go together with a sim into separate folders, so they're easy to pull out if need be. Usually with a picture of the sim, or at the very least the name, possibly "V1, V2," etc.

Interesting Idea.

If I understand correctly, use Clean Installer to open Pack files and put all of it in a new file for Downloads.

That would mean opening them one at a time instead of batches?
And it wouldn't Help what I already have. Fortunately, I kept all the Pack files I've used.
Will Try.

If you've already installed the Sims2pack files, you don't have to install them again. Just opening the files in Clean Installer can help you find the sim file + the CC the sim is using.

It's a bit easier to search for the files in your Downloads folder if you install them again, though (Makes it easier to copy/paste filenames for searching - put them in a folder, or just chuck them in a "find later" folder on your desktop - whatever works best for you).

Batch-installing Sims2pack files that contain CC isn't a good idea - unless you want a total mess, of course. I always make sure to put the files in separate folders. That way I can clean out stuff I don't want/need, or just keep track of which sim uses which CC.

About installed Sims2Pack files...Open what files with Clean Installer?
I don't see Pack Files from Downloads even showing up in Clean Installer.

'A total mess' is a good description.
I have a File just called 'FACE ETC' that is over 1.600.
Whenever I add to it, I just check for duplicates.

Clean Installer is for opening Sims2pack files, viewing the contents (.package files), and installing to the game. You can also delesect package files from the Sims2pack file if you don't want to install them.

The Sims2pack file format has similarities to a zip/rar archive file, in that the game doesn't read the Sims2pack file, but rather the contents (.package files) when they've been copied over (installed) into the Downloads folder.

OK, so it's just like opening to install again.
I thought you meant you could view them like Package files.

You don't have to install again, you can just look at the contents and search for the files in Downloads, if you're after a particular sim or CC item from that sims2pack file.

You need SimPE (or some other program that reads package files) to view the contents of a package file.
