Gabriel and Etsu Green had more than 20K simoleons in the bank, so they upgraded the house. Did they add two bedrooms for their kids? No. They bought this big, new kitchen for Andrea Shin to clean. It's the biggest room in the house.

Back in January this year, teenager Ellie Murray and two brothers (Ian and Philip Borland) moved into the then newly built New Changing Shed in Monopolis. Here they were learning the basics of cooking, something that virtually all my Sims do, even though I've had Squinge's No More Fires mod for most of the time I've been playing. My Changing Huts and Sheds are for CAS-created Sims who are destined to become townies. I used to only play such Sims for a few Sim hours, but now I usually play them for a few days, to give them a chance to get to know the neighbourhood they are moving into, and to give me a chance to get to know them.

By June I thought they should be ready to move on. As planned, Philip Borland became a townie. His brother Ian Borland had got into a relationship with with another boy, Tyler Hunt, whose mother was opening a lunch restaurant (one of my entries for Justpetro's contest). Ian moved across Monopolis to move in with Tyler and his mum. He is now, as a family member, helping in the restaurant. I was expecting Ellie to move out too, but first I let her get this promotion she wanted. Ellie, a Fortune Sim, was delighted at this promotion, but it was clear to me, that she really had her heart set on becoming a professional model, so I let her stay on to work for an important second promotion. So, the Borland brothers both moved out, and some new arrivals moved into the changing shed beside her. She set about getting to know them, while continuing to focus on her modelling career.

Today Ellie got the promotion she sought, and she was over the moon about it. I think she has the looks, the dress sense, and the personality to be a success as a fashion model, so I wish her well. I think she's now ready to become a townie, as originally intended, but I think we'll still see plenty of her, as she has got into a relationship with Henry Junor, a playable boy who lives nearby. I thought Henry was gay, but it seems he finds Ellie's forceful personality irresistible. When I see how forcefully she kisses him, I think I can understand why!

Ellie kissing her boyfriend, Henry Junor. Watching TV in the foreground is Timothy Ayre, one of her housemates.

Although it was 9 p.m. when she returned from work, she invited Henry, the Borland boys, and Tyler Hunt (Ian Borland's boyfriend) round to celebrate with her. Tyler brought another friend with him, and there were already some other guests there, so Ellie had to make hamburgers for fourteen diners! She comes across to me as competent and confident.

It's now winter in Holtwood: time to invite relatives to visit and keep cosy by the fire. There was a little more fire than anyone planned...

I thought that you were going to say that Granny stayed playing the piano while everything burned down around her, like the orchestra while the Titanic was sinking. XD

Is puss hissing at the fire?

Sarah McGuire, whom I mentioned in this post a couple of days ago, has just invited Justus Bruenig to move in with her. This makes him playable (as @simsample recommended). Justus is the fourth Maxis paper boy / girl in Veronaville, but he never got a paper round, as it seems the game can't use more than three newspaper deliverers. In my game he has seven Cooking skill points and ten for Mechanical skill, so I think he'd be wasting his talents delivering papers!

Today of course is Christmas Day so he, Sarah and visiting teen townie Oscar Harter join me in drinking a toast and wishing

A Very Merry Christmas to all Sims and Simmers everywhere!!

Now that he's playable, Sarah intends to take him shopping and buy him some nice new clothes. They can be her Christmas present to him! Even though it's Christmas Day, I'm sure the shops will be open in Veronaville! Justus (pronounced the German way to go with the surname Bruenig) knows Miriam Hunter, Bluewater's up and coming hairstylist. So I expect him to visit her soon to let her restyle his hair. (Miriam is still working from home, as she can't afford to buy premises, so I'll have to play her, and get her to invite him.)

Yes, the cat hissed and bushed up her tail at the fire - you can see she was backing halfway through the wall in an effort to keep out of range of sparks, but she stayed there to rebuke the flames until the situation was resolved! Brave kitty! I'm glad she didn't run away from home.

Yeah, I had a dog who ran away once through a combination of his bowl being empty and his sim being on fire when he went to ask for it to be filled. XD

Recently in Portland...

"It's so nice when my children get along!"

Imani has a long way to go to reach the top of the Dance career track.

The first friend Matrix makes after being initialized is, serendipitously enough, the only sim in Portland with a Robot turn-on!

I needed a change of scene, so I threw together a row of narrow rainbow flats in my desert neighbourhood and let loose eight sims to try to learn how to survive with minimal interference.

Bluey Linseed, in the red flat, has an autonomous preference for red foods - he likes to make spaghetti with a red sauce, chili con carne, and of course sausages. Down the row a little, Furbish Linseed likes to make green salads!

Commonality Linseed, next to Bluey in the orange flat, is the friendly sort, always keen to play catch with a neighbour. She received a pop-up telling her she's gaining fame because more and more people are starting to see that she's a good Sim.

"Oh wow! Good things are coming my way RIGHT NOW! I've just met the cutest little fluffy critter and I think we're going to make friends!"

Uzochi was very excited to move out of his parents' house and into his own apartment. There's a lovely view from the private balcony, which was an unexpected bonus.
