Well, since I'm guessing this rerelease doesn't come with the Store content, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the whole purpose of this isn't to revive the Store and start nickling and diming people for all that stuff plus more poor-quality objects/clothes/hair.

About the sims 1 being on GitHub for the first time that I can remember. Evidently I'm wrong. It was there all along. I just didn't look hard enough according to other people.

I'm not too sure why or how this re-release became so hyped up. All I interpreted, when rumors came out a month ago, about it was "EA can now say this game is NOT abandomware and now you HAVE to pay them a pretty penny to even think about playing the game(s)" just like that random update they just threw out for the Sims 3. That's not even including the stuff that they have seemingly broken in this re-release..
I haven't bought it, but I've been reading up on the Sims Forums (i think that's what they're called) and a player made mention of Wants GUID failures. Another, on Reddit, states that the Custom Skin's menu does not close and that others experience App Crashes after creating a family.
A "fix" to Pink Soup all ties into how your computer handles CPU and RAM usage by Programs and Apps, I usually experience it when my Laptop goes to sleep for over a hour while it's running. Or if I have other programs running.. Or if it just feels "flashy" on a particular day. There's too many people claiming this re-release does/doesn't fix the issue for it to truly matter.
I do read that they fixed shadows, and haven't heard otherwise, so that's cool I guess if you hate searching for tiny fixes that are required for a game that's literally 20 years old.
I think this re-release was a trojan-horse to rope older players back into EA's greedy, money hungry hands and to distract everyone from how they just totally aborted the Sims 5/ "Project Renee". .. And that the Sims 4 is still receiving packs well past it's lifespan and still does not work as intended.
I did like the commercial they posted for it. Reminded me of the magazine ads, I think, that I so happened to find while image searching a while back.

Oh, I see that's on the other thread. You don't have to apologise, no-one was saying you didn't look hard enough! Just pointing out that there are many people playing Sims 1 still (new players and old) through digital means. There's even a widescreen patch! You wouldn't know about it unless you frequent Sims 1 forums here and elsewhere, or look for torrents and open source stuff a lot.

A redditor has uploaded the M&G objects.package from the rerelease to WeTransfer here: https://we.tl/t-1uAyapVzmo (I tried to zip it and put it on simfileshare, but apparently 65 MB is too much for SFS to deal with). This might be helpful for debugging issues without paying $30 for a buggier version of a game you already own.

SFS has a upload limit of 500MB per file.

Seeing that, I now have no idea why absolutely anyone would defend this.. this is no different than that "Starter Pack" that's been floating around on GitHub, except you've got to pay 44 USD for a supposed re-release that "fixes key issues" (it fixes literally nothing and causes more problems).
This is quite literally a scam and no one should be buying this.

I want to think that it is simple laziness, if they really want that they are going to fall flat on their faces, the only people who would be interested in those ugly hairstyles that no one uses, we are the ones who create neighborhoods without cc, and we never use them because they don't come with the game , so we would never use them because it would lose all meaning. Normal people download cc clothes and hairstyles much cooler than those. Although now that you mention it, the lack of body shop is suspicious... Maybe they want to create a need, like they did with 4 and its lack of everything.

The announcement for the re-release coming out of nowhere was suspicious to me too. If I remember correctly, we got the announcement four days before release. It feels rushed and soulless, but at least the promo website is cute?

I wonder if they didn't properly patch the game this time around... Could explain why there are so many strange bugs. Maybe someone can check.
(The UC came pre-patched with the original patches).

The UC was made with the 4 tri-packs and those were patched and all the rest had the patches also.
