This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Premade sims get stuck in class in custom university hood
I made a custom university subhood template, and I was just made aware of an issue where premade sims will go to class and never come back. I tested it on my end and it happens in any of the 3 premade households I have (sorority, fraternity, and a rented house) but it doesn't seem to affect newly made sims regardless of where they live. It also isn't consistent, it almost always happens, but I have had a sim in a household get stuck in class, while the other sim in the same household comes home fine. Sometimes it lets me cancel the "go to class" action which brings them home, and other times it refuses to cancel the action and they stay stuck. Resetting off-world sims via the batbox brings them back, but they still get stuck again the next day.

I've searched online but I haven't been able to find anyone who's ran into this problem before. Is there a known fix or anything I can try? I'm not sure what's causing it, the premade sims were created normally in game AFTER I set the hood type to university, so they should be all set as university sims. Is it possible this is an issue with changing what semester they are in via SimPE? Otherwise they are the same as any other premade sim I have made for other custom hoods, so I'm not sure what could be different and making them stuck in class (sometimes).

The first thing to check would be if you have any mods that affect school or university.
Sometimes, other seemingly unrelated mods can conflict too, so the HCDU+ is probably the best place to start.
Outdated mods can also cause issues, so make sure the ones you use are compatible with your EPs.

Not sure if this could be a Legacy issue (it has some bugs the other game versions don't have).

It shouldn't be any mods, currently all I have installed are my hood making mods, so nothing that affects gameplay. (I just removed all of the mods and checked, they're still getting stuck so I think I can rule out any mods or mod conflicts.) It's not a legacy issue, I'm running the Ultimate Collection and the person who let me know about the issue also is running the UC. It's just very odd because it seems to be specific to the subhood template itself. The problem also persists in the non-subhood template version, so like when I put the hood directly in the neighborhood folder and open it via the neighborhood browser, the problem still happens, so whatever the issue is isn't to do with it specifically when it's made a subhood template, but an issue seemingly with the hood itself.

I would suspect that it might be something to do with this. Can you use the college adjuster to set them to the final exam, then have them attend that to see whether they progress to the next semester normally? I was wondering if that might reset it so that classes work.

Do you have debug mode on?

I'm also not clear what you mean by "premade" here, since you say they were "created normally in game after you changed the hood to a university" which seems to indicate that they are CAS sims and not premades.

Sorry, I meant premade as in I made them to be included with the hood template, so they already exist when the subhood is added to a main hood. I just wasn't sure how to differentiate them from any new CAS made sims made after the subhood has been added, since they seem totally fine but the "premade" ones packaged in aren't

And yes I do have debug enabled permanently, I don't get any errors when sims are at class/stuck/when the action can't be cancelled

I'll try that and see if it fixes it, thanks!

100% this was the issue. Thank you for your help, I didn't know about the college adjuster before! I installed the college adjuster and sent 2 sims to their finals, they came back autonomously and were instantly reset to the start of their first semester (having previously been visually in their 4th semester), and then were able to go to class and come back fine. So it seems it's not safe/functional to set semester progress via SimPE (lesson for myself here).

In case anyone ends up on this thread in the future with the same problem, the solution is to use the college adjuster to properly set the semester progress in game, however from my testing you also have to first send the sim to their exam, THEN set the semester to what it should be. Otherwise it works like 25% of the time without the final exam.

So... Turns out that didn't entirely fix the issue. It did in one of the households, but the rest still get stuck at class, but ONLY seemingly when it's added as a subhood. When I'm testing it in my main file version (entered through the neighborhood selector, not attached to any main hood) they go to and come back from class totally fine after doing the final exam fix. But when I add it as a subhood template, it's only working on SOME sims. In one household, both sims appear to be totally fixed, but in the other 2 households, some sims come back normally and others get stuck, despite having done the same fix to all. I've been trying over and over again to see if I can get it to work consistently, but it just isn't. It does seem to be a problem for sure with the SimPE semester changes, so tomorrow when I get back to trying to fix it I may poke around and see if I can do anything on the SimPE side to get it unjanked. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions they would be much appreciated!

I believe what that does is fix the students to work with Cyjon's semester changes and sets their schedule to the mod's different schedule (which I don't have installed while setting up custom hoods), but I tried it anyways and it ended up crashing on the 5th sim I hit "fix student on" haha so I think the game didn't like that at all. I rebooted it and tried it again on just one student, sent her to class at the new time (since it shifts the class schedule to match the semester changes mod) but she still got stuck in class, so no dice I think

Honestly, I haven't started the technical side of adding custom Sims to Enigma Academy yet, so I can't really help you, but I'm reading this thread carefully in case I encounter a similar problem. Perhaps the issue you raised is related to changing their semester with SimPE? I believe that anything that can be done organically in the game is always safer than using SimPE for everything, but I could be wrong.

My guess is it probably does have to do with the SimPE changes, I tried reverting them via SimPE (setting their semesters back to 1) but it strangely didn't even affect anything in game, despite it having at least visually worked when I initially used SimPE to set their semesters. When making the university I wasn't aware of the college adjuster so I thought SimPE was the only way to set semester progress, 100% do not use my method lol, it's most likely the root issue. It's odd because I seem to have managed to fix it in one household, but the same fix isn't working in the other two.

Long story short, when you're setting up your university sims don't use SimPE to set their semester progress haha

I hope you can fix it somehow. If it helps, I recreated both my neighborhoods at least three times because I always thought I'd broken something. xD
