Default WCIF this old black gothic dress?
Hey there.

Today, after way too many years, I finally dug out my The Sims 2 discs again and started collecting some CC. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find a gothic dress I absolutely adored back then.
Even after hours of searching I had no luck, but I refuse to believe it’s gone forever and hope it’s still hiding somewhere in the depths of the internet.

Sadly, I don’t have a picture or the name (the last time I downloaded it must have been somewhere between 2008 and 2014), but I’ll try to describe it as best as I can:

The dress was completely black, with a flared skirt and black boots.
It had a very noticeable black batwing-shaped collar or choker around the neck. That was one of the most distinctive features.
The general vibe was gothic and vampire bat with maybe even some hints of Gothic Lolita.

I’d be incredibly grateful for any hints or ideas where I could find this one. 🖤

It's not batwing, but I remember this one:

Is that what you mean by flared skirt, or was it fuller? Was it figure hugging or loose?

Thank you so much for your answer. 🖤
That’s a gorgeous dress, but unfortunately it’s not the one I’m looking for.

The skirt was fuller and also shorter. It was about knee-length, if I remember correctly. It was loose and not too formal.
It was darker too, a truly beautiful pitch black.

Thank you for the link. There are definitely one or two beautiful additions for formal wear in there. 🖤

I feel like I've seen this, but are you sure it was for TS2 and not TS4?

You might want to check the archives here: https://autumnparanoia.livejournal.com and their posts on Garden of Shadows. In fact, GoS might be a good place to search, people there might know.

Absolutely. I still remember how a school friend and I used to playfully argue over who was allowed to put that dress on her Sim-self and who had to wear my terrible Bodyshop creations instead. 😄
I never played The Sims 4 before 2020 either, but it’s definitely possible that there’s a similar dress for TS4.

Thank you for the link! 🖤
I had browsed GoS briefly before, but I think a proper deep dive into the forum will be worth it in this case. I only just noticed that they also have a WCIF section.

It’s such a shame that I don’t have the name, the creator, or even a photo of the dress, that would make things so much easier. If I didn’t remember it so clearly, I’d almost think it never existed. But the memory is just too vivid for it not to have existed. 🙂

If you could find a picture of a dress on the internet that looks something similar in style, it might help us. Flared skirt and black boots could mean so much, so any more detail you can provide about the dress itself, and also about the batwing collar, could help. For example, this is what I think of by batwing collar, not sure if that's anywhere close! What was the neckline on the dress like?

Okay, I tried to find a few images that are pretty close to what I remember.

The batwing collar was directed downwards, like in this picture. But as mentioned, I’m not 100% sure whether it was a batwing-shaped collar or more of a batwing-shaped choker.

The neckline and overall silhouette of the dress were similar to these ones, but it wasn’t quite as highly detailed. It looked “softer,” less HQ.

It was a bit longer as well, more like in this picture. The shoes were also similar to these boots design-wise, with a small heel, but the overall height was slightly lower.

And I just remembered that it had some kind of sleeves or arm warmers, similar to the ones in this image.

I hope this post isn’t too confusing or spammy. I tried to group the explanations thematically as best as I could.
