Default Columbo-style hair, raincoat & car (Peugeot)
Although some of you will no doubt say "isn't he already having enough problems with his massive cc folder?", here I am again, looking for more trouble. I figure I might as well enjoy the one hood that is still working, while I try to salvage the others. Anyhow...

Columbo's hair
Peter Falk had the same kind of hair that my ancestor John Stuart had (he was nicknamed Bushyhead by his Cherokee in-laws). His hair isn't curly, or frizzy... it's just wiry, I guess, and very rarely is under control. Sim hairstyles that I've seen that are sort of similar are almost always too long, either standing up too tall, or too long in the back. It's less a "mane" than it is a "bird's nest." Yesterday, I went through the entire Almighty Hat collection, on the off-chance. I've had little to no luck Googling hairstyles, as there's really no standard definition of what's meant by short, or curly, or wavy, etc. Anyone have a suggestion for another go-to site that has a bunch of hair options?

The iconic trenchcoat
What's the problem with Sim trenchcoats? They're - inexplicably, IMO - worn over T-shirts. And yet also with fancy two-toned dress shoes? Columbo's is never buttoned up, but he's a police lieutenant, so he wears it over a suit jacket and tie. As it should be. Okay, the suit's not buttoned either, and often not visible. But at least he doesn't just wear a t-shirt underneath.
I have found a recolor which makes the coat seem slightly less... clean? And also, the shoes are just regular brown shoes. But it's still over just a t-shirt, like some kid from the "trenchcoat mafia" might wear to high school. I guess I can squint my eyes and ignore it for now.

Crazy! I guess I should've Googled it, but I didn't dream that someone would have actually made the exact car; I was just hoping for something close. Thanks much!

Not open, but it has a shirt and tie under it. Maybe he was cold. XD https://gardenofshadows.org.uk/gard...topic=11221.240

You know what? I'll take it! Thanks, Charity.

I have a long-ish raincoat (not quite a trenchcoat) that I wear over "nice" clothes. Unfortunately, it's kind of my only raincoat, and I don't like wearing it over just a t-shirt. Even worse is a t-shirt and shorts, as it tends to make me look like some kind of flasher ("Hey, look - that guy's not wearin' any pants!"). I used to have one of those bagpiper's rain cloaks; unfortunately, I never got to wear it while piping, as I brought it to camp and some kid hooked it during a fishing session and tore a big hole in it.
Not sure why Columbo goes around in a raincoat in L.A., where it doesn't rain that often. He must enjoy being sweaty.

On DeeDee-Sims, I stumbled on a 4t2 conversion called the Ginko G126, by ProfessionalPartyGuest. It has a good volume, without being too long, and in a black shade, with some department-approved short sideburns, might just sorta look like Columbo having a really great hair day, from the first season maybe. Conversions is where it's gonna be for this project, I have a feeling.
We'll see what it looks like in-game. There was no turnaround view available, but I'm optimistic.

I'll have to go back and look a little closer at that post again. It showed up in my catalog, but not on my Sim.

In the end, I stuck with the "Lindy Hop" hair that I got from the Hat's page. The Ginko was too strange around the back. But the trench coat did finally show up. He's still a bit on the thin side, but that's kind of unavoidable in the Sims 2. I think I will make his head bigger, though.
