This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default 4GB Patch Not Working, Log shows that my memory is
Ok, so I have applied the patch to my Sims2.exe, did auto detect with graphic rules, possibly even remove secuROM, but the desktop log file still is showing

"Memory: 3980MB
Free memory: 452MB"

and my game continues to randomly crash. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong or what I haven't done yet?

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

Certainly. Was on a quick short trip, so didn't had time to upload it sooner. But here it is:

Left a note in your previous topic about the patch, not sure if you saw:

I don't believe your integrated card has enough memory to enable 4Gb. It looks like it has no dedicated and shares with system memory, giving up to 2Gb.

^ Probably the issue, then. Depending on the OS your laptop is running, and the background tasks running (the latest latest Windows versions + various background tasks can use 2-6 gb+ in idle mode), it's no wonder the laptop is struggling. 4 GB is barely enough to run the laptop itself these days, let alone games (even Sims2)

Reasonably sure if the memory is reading past 1-2 GB, it's reading what you've got, even with the patch. 3980MB is roughly 4 GB. 452MB or 1056MB is probably what's left to spare at the time of the log, so if your game crashes, it's probably going past this.

You can try to check what the virtual memory is set to, and potentially also increase it if need be, both in the settings and in GraphicRules.
(number 3 here: https://episims.tumblr.com/post/190...-helped-me-with ). This is harddrive space, so make sure you've got enough.

Definitely take off the 4GB patch, as it's going to do no good here.

I used to have an older 3GB (?) patch for my Windows Vista computer with 4 GB memory, which worked, though I think Windows has put so much cr*p in the OS since then, that just the OS is taking up a lot more memory (Vista wasn't exactly a smooth run either). I think Vista used roughly 1 GB in idle, but these days 10/11 alone can be using 2-4 GB (right now I've got a couple browser windows, some background programs like antivirus and Nvidia, whatever Windows is running minus everything I've stopped, and memory use is at 5 GB).

You don't get far with 4GB RAM these days (for a basic school/work laptop where all you do is internet and writing documents, it's fine. It's not meant for gaming, though).
