Hi @HenrietteWilde You could just generate a random GUID by using SimPE's hash generator, or else a random byte generator. There is a GUID database but I don't know how much it's used.

Use some hex speak that is easier to remember. CAFE, 1EAF, F00D, 70A57 (toast), combined with ur year of birth, ur phone number or whatever.

I noticed that the DDS tools download on nvidia's page isn't working anymore, I found an alternative source to download it here

I have 31 PhotoStudio templates that aren't in the download on the Photo Studio Templates page. I didn't create any of these and don't remember where I got them, I've been collecting them for years. I uploaded them to SimsFileShare

Are the download and installation instructions the same for the Legacy Collection? The last time I used SimPE was 2008 and apparently I remember nothing.

I am having trouble viewing my sims memories in Sim PE. They all appear as lines of code instead of proper memories with the icon and text. and I am not sure how to fix it. Memories appear normal in game, but I can't edit them in Sim PE cause I have no idea what I am editing. Anyone have any ideas how to fix?

In SimPE 0.77.69, I can't find the option for advanced mode - where is it?

I don't know if this will help or not- there is no official documentation but this is what I can find from the current dev.

I cannot get SimPE to work. I've installed the 77 version and updated all the file paths to correspond to the Legacy Collection, but it still says it can't find the save files and to add it in the "Options Dialogue" - only there is nowhere called Options Dialogue. Despite specifying the correct savegame folder, it is still looking in the default location (c:Users>(username)>documents>ea games>the sims 2).

Any help would be appreciated!

I did turn on Debug mode, but it wouldn't let me import a mesh due to too many polys, I've always had advanced mode enabled for this reason - I'm not even dealing with super high poly meshes, just stuff that is maybe a bit above maxis average. Usally TS3 or TS4 meshes. I've never had a problem with these meshes in game, so I don't know why the poly limit is set as low as it is. You can export a mesh, edit it without changing the number of polys, only for it to refuse to import the same mesh. I would really appreaciate if someone could look into this!

Edit: How to do I install v.75 without an installer file? I tried copying the contents of the RAR into where I have SimPE installed, letting it overwrite the existing files, but when I opened SimPE it just threw errors and wouldn't let me do anything.

I have been using v.72 for years, but when I got a new computer this year, it didn't have a disc drive, so for the first time I couldn't install from my old CDs, so I used osab's installer for the UC (just before EA's takedown), but SimPE v.72 doesn't recognise the EPs and SPs with this version version of the game... hence using a newer version.

Edit again: It appears that Windows defender is blocking SimPE v.75 because it is an exe downloaded from the internet - I have had this problem before with other programs - is there a version of SimPE v.75 with an installer? As v.72 and v.77 have installers and don't have this problem.

Try an older version of SimPE- I can change paths for everything in this version, for example, and 75.68.

Try adding an exception to Defender (option 1 here):

So here's interesting. I installed version 75 and updated all of the pathways, still got the "specify correct SaveGame Folder in the Options Dialog" error BUT it was following the pathway I'd entered (more or less). It was looking for C>Users>(username)>Saved Games>Electronic Arts>The Sims 25>Neighbourhoods. Right enough, there is no folder called 'Neighbourhoods', just a bunch of UserData folders. Any ideas?

What specific folders are in the 'bunch of userdata folders'? I don't have legacy, so I have no idea what the file path is meant to be- does it not save to your Documents folder?

SaveGames are located in the pathway specified in my previous post. The folder contains the subfolders UserData, UserData2, UserData3, UserData4, etc, up to 8. The part of the game with all the EPs and SPs is in the Steam files (this is what opens if you click on 'Browse local files'.
After reading your post, I checked Documents and found yet another folder containing Legacy files and in there was a subfolder called Neighbourhoods. So I plugged that pathway into SimPE and it worked! Which means that in SimPE>Preferences>System Folders where it says 'Savegame', it actually wants the Neighbourhoods folder.
Thanks so much for your help - I've been trying to fix this for weeks. Now I'm going to see how much of SimPE I remember from 2017
