Robyn's Late 1800s Save [WIP]

Hello everybody! I'm a longtime simmer and an even longer history buff. For as long as I've been playing the Sims (well over half of my life at this point! :D), I've been a big fan of playing with historical legacies, with worlds like the Wild Wild West by auntielynds and Praaven by jje1000 serving as some of my most-played worlds back when I was younger. I used to spend hours upon hours on Livejournal reading stories and legacies that took place during the Civil War period of America.
Like I'd mentioned before, I'm a HUGE history buff, and my biggest area of interest is the American frontier, particularly the 1870s to the 1890s... which means that naturally, this is the time period that I'd like to play in the most, especially with the additions of off-the-grid living, expanded farming, horses, and hand-washed laundry. While there's builds and mods and challenges aplenty, all of which are amazing with so much love poured into them, I noticed that there weren't too many worlds or savefiles to actually use these for that didn't require a lot of setup from the player end. I'm really meticulous and need everything in my gameplay to blend perfectly, I decided to sit down and set up a savefile to do play in a world that fits my historical Sims standards. Although this save was originally meant just for me, I was encouraged by some friends to share it with the masses... and now, here I am, finally getting around to doing that!
So, without further adieu, I'll stop yapping and instead present to you... Robynsave, my tentatively-named late 1800s savefile that I've been working on for the last year or two!:
This savefile uses NO CC, NO MODS, but ALL PACKS (yes, including that one, that one, and that one. And especially the one you simply can't imagine anybody using, because dangit, trying to make Sims dress according to a very specific time period without them all wearing the same GTW set is hard).
Completed Worlds:
Willow Creek

Willow Creek is the second world that I started working on. While it was meant to be an extension to the first world I started working on, Henford-on-Bagley, it eventually became it's own thing and grew to be loosely inspired by the southern parts of North America: particularly Louisiana and Mississippi. Sage Estates, Pendula View and Crawdad Quarter pull inspiration from plantation-style mansions and colonial French and Spanish inspired architecture, while Courtyard Lane and Foundry Cove have many late-Victorian inspired cottages as well as a handful of American Foursquare styled homes. My gameplay has a big emphasis on things to do outside of the house, and you can see it reflected here: there's many parks, restaurants, and a smattering of other places to visit and activities to do around the map.
There are two starter homes here: Daisy Hovel (19k) in Foundry's Cove and Potters Splay (20k) in Courtyard Lane, so if you're like me and prefer to play without cheats, you won't have to worry about bulldozing a lot unless you want to do that.

Oasis Springs

I'll be honest with you... "complete" is a bit of a lie here, because I still have the Roomies household to give a makeover to with a fresh layer of paint, but it's complete enough to share, so it still makes the cut. Oasis Springs aims to capture the spirit of the American Frontier as captured by cultural consensus, so it pulls a lot of inspiration from fictitious gunslinger media, such as spaghetti Westerns like The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (1966); novels like The Misadventures of Maude March (2005); as well as locations in Red Dead Redemption (2010) such as New Austin and Nuevo Paraíso. It also takes a great inspiration from real world locations, such as North Mexico and South California: namely Viejo Plaza of what was once Alta California. The neighborhoods of Mirage Canyon, Desert Bloom and Bedrock Strait lean heavily into Boomtown-styled architecture. Skyward Palms has a small smattering of adobe-style homes alongside a cemetery and a restaurant respectively. Acquisition Butte has some massive plantation-styled homes as well while Parched Prospect has some simple ranches and cottages for any Sim to kickstart their livelihood in.
There are quite a few starter homes here for your Sims who hope to make it big in the Gold industry: Raffia Quinta (20k) and Vista Quarry (19k) in Parched Prospect.
Brindleton Bay:
Firstly, a good chunk of the builds in Brindleton Bay were built by the very lovely antiquatedplumbobs on Tumblr. This world is meant to be a quiet and sleepy porting town heavily inspired by historic New England towns. The architecture in Sable Square and Whiskerman's Wharf both reflect that with their colonial architecture, while Cavalier Cove sports some additional log cabins and sodhouses that sprung up across the Great Plains and the Southwest of America. There's also a quiet little chapel with a beautiful view on Deadgrass Isle for any young couples hoping to tie the knot somewhere nice and reclusive.
There's only one starter home here tucked away in Cavalier Cove: a log cabin under the name of Hindquarter Hideaway.
Strangerville:

Strangerville, like Oasis Springs, leans heavily into the cultural impression left behind by spaghetti Westerns, but with a much more singular theme due to the world's small size: mining towns. This world pulls heavy inspiration from Virginia City in Nevada, alongside the ghost towns of Ruby and Contention City in Arizona, with a heavy emphasis of Boomtown-styled architecture and log cabins in Strangerville Plaza. Shady Acres, on the other hand, sports a combination of late-Victorian as well as Gothic-revival homes that come together for a fun, unique look that plays into EA's prewritten lore about some of the residents coming from strange wealth.
There's only one starter home in Strangerville: Slip 42 (19k), located in Strangerville Plaza.
Henford-on-Bagley

Henford-on-Bagley was the first world I started doing over for this save, and this was before I started giving much thought to the setting. Because of this, I fear that there is no real cohesive theme to the lots, although you can definitely see parallels to varying rural settlements in west-central Europe in the 1860s, particularly those of England and Germany before the Long Depression. This area consists primarily of cottages and farmland with a subtle emphasis on Victorian architecture.
There's a good handful of starter homes to be found here. There's 1 Cobblebottom Street (19k) in Finchwink as well as a residental rental with two log cabins, 4 Olde Mill Lane (13k) and 3 Olde Mill Lane (18k).
Chestnut Ridge:

Chesnut Ridge, much like Oasis Springs and Strangerville, leans into the traditional "frontier" expectation as established by cultural phenomena in the United States. Chestnut Ridge, much like Strangerville, leans into the concept of Mining Towns: only this one is much more prosperous and long lasting, pullling inspiration again from the likes of Virginia City in Nevada as well as Brisbee in Arizona. Like the other two worlds, it shares a similar Boomtown-styled architecture, with lots of fancy facades to otherwise ordinary buildings alongside a smattering of ranches and farms. Galloping Gulch in particular lends itself to old frontier architecture, with similarly styled log cabins as found for the beginning of the time period.
There are a good handful of starter homes to be found here: Galloping Gulch is home to Palimono Junction (19k) and Deadwood Reach (23k) as well as Canter Cottage (22k) in Riders' Glen.
Townie Makeovers
Making over townies to fit the aesthetic of the world without any custom content whatsoever was difficult, but I believe I was able to pull it off in a way that felt satisfying. There were, however, a lot of things to deliberate on: from how Sims would dress to if I should change their relationships and their stories. For a while, I contemplated deleting all townies and populating the world with my own, but truth be told... I am quite a big fan of most EA townies, and I much prefer their imperfections over to those generated by the game itself :P. I also chose to continue to include the queer Sims shipped with the game. I understand that this may forgo historical accuracy, but at the end of the day, it's the Sims and it made me happy to see them around the world. So, I kept them.
Now, not all Sims are dressed exactly as according to the time period. I really wanted every Sim to look different and unique and that simply wouldn't have been possible had I kept their wardrobes delegated to outfits I felt didn't break the immersion of my gameplay TOO much. I also chose not to change any facial features, body types, pronouns or names (save for Katrina, who's name I changed back into her Sims 2 counterpart's: نجحت or Nighat, because I've always thought it was such a pretty name, and I believe I used an older version of the Goths because I liked their faces better, although I changed Cassandra and Bella's skintones to match their Sims 2 counterparts). I did, however, change any unnatural hair/eye colors into one I felt was appropriate to them. I am quite happy with how they turned out, although I do go back and tweak them fairly often!
Every Sim also has 2 everyday outfits, so hopefully, there will be some variation seeing them around town.
The townies in order are: Bella Goth (Willow Creek), Dina Caliente (Oasis Springs), Brant and Brent Hecking (Brindleton Bay). Aren't they proper stylish! :D







I've been working on this world back with For Rent was freshly released, which means that this world is a very long labor of love that has been in the works for a very, very long time (and it certainly doesn't help that new worlds keep coming out, although I'm not complaining!). As you can tell, it's still a long ways away from being finished... I'd be generous and say it's maybe 35% done at this point in time. Almost all of my time is dedicated towards university and work these days, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to sharing it. But I'm happy with how things are going so far and I feel confident enough to share, so please, if you're a historical simmer interested in playing this world for yourself: let me know! It's nice motivation but also helps gauge if it's worth sharing, since there was a lot of writing that went into putting this post together.
