I've built one restaurant before and never run an owned restaurant, so I don't know all the little catches about how much room sims need and things that can go wrong. I think I'll try to allow extra space to make it more playable, though I dislike building large rooms that look empty.
My building project is under way, but at an early stage with room to change as I go. I'm hoping to gain direction from the judges' comments on Round 1 to help correct my course as I go.
I've given your entry from Round 1 a good amount of comments and feedback, but you'll all have to wait until later tomorrow before I can get them to Justpetro. My time zone is PST (or GMT -8 if you prefer) so while it's still Thursday here, it is getting late. 8:10 PM as of typing this and I still got to cook dinner, take a shower and get some sleep.
Previously known as HarVee. Just call me Yin from now on.
I've rebuilt my round 2 entry about 20 times already!
Me too! Trying to get the restaurant to look like it belongs on a gigantic 3x2 lot but also meeting the budget restriction?! Oh little sims 1 build music we're really in it now
I would like to know that too because I'm going over to family friend's house for karaoke party and drinks in a couple minutes. But I will have my judge table uploaded when I get back. Hopefully I'll still meet the deadline...

I am hoping my comments will help give all the contestants some nice feedback, and that they're not too harsh or overly critical. I tried to focus more on the positive things I liked with each of your entries foremost. I did dot down a few suggestions and some advice where I felt it was needed.
Anyway, I do want to thank everyone for letting me be your judge...mental. Regardless of who wins this round, It has certainly been nice seeing all these entries and I'm glad you have all decided to enter this contest. Thank you all and hope that my commentary will help you in some ways.

I have a question about the bar rule, do we have to include a bar as in the object Sims can buy drinks from, or does it simply mean island counters with seating?
And another question to follow Monsieur_Oshima's- does a pond count as an entertainment item? I always like to have water on a lot but of course they could fish...
And another question to follow Monsieur_Oshima's- does a pond count as an entertainment item? I always like to have water on a lot but of course they could fish...
Edit- Congrats to Shasta!
Yes, a pond counts as an entertainent item! (I put ponds at restaurants too and my nature sims find it very entertaining)
Also, post as many pics as you can (as long as it is not more than the required ones plus 20 extra) and please give a description of each pic, a short one will do!

I like the front windows and wall – how it separates from the showroom. Nice details too – like that poor widdle thrown out pot by the outside garbage. This is a good utilitarian build; nothing fancy but it gets the job done.
The Fire Marshall thanks you for including a back door/exit to the building. But he wonders, is there a fire alarm installed in the kiln room?
The side walkway area with trees is also very nice. It would be a great place for a chess-table (after the contest.) I'm not really a fan of that checker-board tile in the showroom. And maybe there should be an inside chair for Gramps to sit on while the shopping is happening?
Comments:
A nice little shop. The vents(?) on the roof gives it a point of interest. I also rather like your unique bus stop.
It could do with a bathroom window.
I do feel the shop area is rather empty compared to the cluttered back areas. I know you said it’s a new business, but I don’t think that requires so few shelves or items for sale.
You pulled off an industrial feel with very little CC.
Clever positioning of the hood deco to add the dumpster near the rubbish bin.
Comments:
The industrial theme is really nice, but I can't help but to think it would've been better suited for a restaurant than a pottery shop. Still, this is a solid entry and I'm pleased to have seen it.
The flat roof was definitely the choice to go, and the advertisement(?) on the side of the roof is a really nice realistic touch that I applaud you for having used and shown in your screens. This type of detail boosts the score. I'd love to see more of this type of small detail in the next few rounds.
The checker flooring choice is a bit repetitive, however the deco and furniture choice is on-par with what I'd expect to see in an industrial pottery shop. The window by the furnaces was a bold but attractive choice.
Kind of a generic ext. but it does work well for the lot theme, the nice row of trees helps boost the score. The big square windows in the front of the lot is a very pleasing thing to see too.
The lot has plenty of space between objects for Sims to route effectively which is the main thing I am judging for in the playability section.
Requirements from host: 4.5
The staff room and production area should not be shared.
Host comment: I love this lot. The bus stop is very nice and it looks very professional, yet charming to me.

I love how you used the greenhouse roof and walls here. The grate deck works well too. In fact, your CC usage is spot on – it really adds flavor!
I like how you included both a customer bathroom and a private bathroom. And thank you for including a chair for tired shoppers. (The orange Naugahyde seems appropriate here!)
The Fire Marshall thanks you for including a back door/exit to the building, but noticed there isn't a way off the back deck. I set of stairs could easily be added straight off the back.
I hope another survivor finds this shop!

Interesting shapes and a good floor plan. I rather like the grates showing the green radioactive water below.
Well decorated and the gungy look matches well to the outside.
Can’t say I would want to go to your shop though. :D
Oh boy, that green radioactive water. Some inspired landscaping there. :D
Really sets the atmosphere. I can picture a sim walking over that grating and getting the fumes wafted up from underneath.

A very solid build, the metal wall choices and style of the windows really brings out the apocalypse theme. The use of the greenhouse roof works well on this build.
The metal flooring and furniture choices work well together. I am glad that you included screenshots demonstrating Josh interacting with the objects, it helps boost the score.
I've given this(exterior) a five because the mix between the acid green water and desolate landscaping pair well together for this specific lot theme.
The lot looks to be fine in terms of routing, I can imagine myself wanting to shop there... though I might be the only one to shop there as your world lacks Sims apparently...?

Your exterior is gorgeous! I love all the ivy and all the cottage-style CC. In a medieval game like this, do you even have a taxi? If so, what is the 'phone'? I love the horse tie-up area.
Is there an upstairs to this build? Unfinished, maybe? Thank you for flooring the ceiling – popcorn woulda been quite jarring. I feel that you could've decorated the showroom just a touch more? ...and competition is STIFF! (That's why I only gave a 4 for the interior.)
The Fire Marshall would like to see a back/side door added – maybe next to the dining table in the staff room? He was grateful for the indoor benches. He even took a snooze on one while I explored those magnificent vases.
Comments:
Reasonable shape, lay out and roof. Nice windows.
One suggestion for extra interest could be popping the entrance out with a small gable roof above
Warm and cosy. Although compared to how much décor is outside and that the price is low, I think some more inside decor would have been nice given all the wood. Maybe some wall quilts, plants or rugs.
The outside is very pretty and inviting. Love the plant choices.
Comments:
Overall this lot demonstrates that you are experienced enough with lot design. Not only is the layout of your walls simplistic enough to help routing, but the window and door choices are really top notch and perfectly convey the theme you're going for.
There's just something about the way that both the wood floors and walls looks that pairs well with a pottery shop. I also like the fence-like divider you used by the cash register.
Your lot looks great from the outside. The way the ivy is placed adds a nice touch, the wall covering choice is perfect, and the other details such as the water well and the horse trough are also nice touches. I hope to see more of these little touches from you in round 2!
Your floorplan is well thought-out with plenty of space between objects so that the Sims can route effectivel

Nice subtle, yet colorful, color palette. What is in the area along-side your staircase? Is it just an empty space? Is there a way to get out on the upper front balcony?
The Fire Marshall would like to see a back door added – maybe next to that stairway?
I think I would lower the shop's sign in front, so it is not covering the fence. The fence is a nice architectural element adding to the clean modern look of your build.
I think adding a “tired shopper” chair in the showroom would be nice too. I hope they get lots of customers!
Comments:
I like the upper balcony, that adds some interest to a small lot.
The dog leg out on the upper story in the floor plan is a little odd. I know it’s part of the balcony but it might have been better to box it off with a wall or fill it with something.
The counter area is nicely decorated, and the shop filled out. Staff are well taken care of with that range of teas.
I do feel the second story could have had a little more in it. Being a toy store there could have been a children’s play area.
Floor tile is rather hard and cold for a toy shop.
I like the brick and contrasting colour.
A little more landscaping would have been nice given there is quite a bit of money left over.
In picture 7 where the sim is restocking, that will be blocked when customers are standing in front of the bears, locking any sim into that space. A sim could also effectively block the staff room door.
Comments:
This lot demonstrates you have some experience with how to make a modern architectural styled lot look good in terms of the way the walls are placed, and with the window and door styles used.
I do like the clutter you've used as it gives a great toy shop feel. However, I'm not sure the floor and wall choice work well together. I think the wood flooring you used on the top floor should be used on the bottom shop floor as that compliments the cream wall choice better, and the tiled stone flooring would look better used in the common area where the coffee machine is.
From the outside this lot looks better than the inside. You've clearly got a good vision of what you wanted to achieve with the exterior. The way the fencing is used as railing and the shop signis placed in a realistic way and conveys perfectly what the store is about. I do however think the sidewalk pavement tile you used on the roof could be different. Maybe try bricks or actual tile next time?
Your shop floor is playable, but what I worry about is in the common area. The coffee table is placed in a way that looks like Sims would stomp their feet when trying to access the sofa, especially when a large amount of foot traffic try to access that area. I recommend keeping a full one-tile between sofas and coffee tables... remember Sims can be rather dumb sometimes.

I love the swoopy roof – that thing just doesn't get used enough.
Other than that, this build is really just a basic box – but you've divvied it up nicely inside. I like the classroom area, that's a nice way to expand your business too. I would like to see a 'waiting' chair inside for tired old Gramps to sit on while Gramma tirelessly looks at fabric samples. The Fire Marshall would like to see a back/side door added – maybe in the classroom? Don't forget to add terrain paint under your trees.
Commments:
I like the roof it adds a lot of interest to the front of your shop but your build is a basic rectangle.
Some things to make the build shape more interesting would be to add some bump outs on the front and or side.
The back windows would look better if the smaller one was in the middle or all three were small.
The walls are well covered but given the size of the shop the middle looks empty. A display could be placed in that area.
I like the classroom area, that was a creative way to add more interest.
A few more plants and some terrain paint under the plants would have been nice.
Most of the shop is well laid out, but I could see a sim getting stuck in that toilet on the right if a sim were standing looking at the bears.

This lot is lovely in the sense of its simplistic manner, but there are caveats. The roof style you've chosen I think doesn't match the lot very well, if you had gone for a Chinese or Japanese theme it would've worked better. The window and door choices you used work fine however, and they're very nicely placed in a way that gives a lot of light into the interior.
The furniture choices and way you've decorated the interior greatly convey what it's all about. But my main thing is that perhaps the lot is a bit too sparsely furnished. Since this is a clothing/textile shop, there is plenty of space to add a clothing rack and some more small deco items to spice up the lot more. The windows between the shop floor and the worker's area is a bold but attractive choice though.
The exterior doesn't quite convey well what the shop is really about and seems a bit plain overall. If I were a Sim I might mistake this lot for a garden shop or flower shop instead... The bus stop however adds a really nice realistic touch and I'd love to see more ideas like that on future builds. The foliage used is adequate and gives a comfy feel to the lot.
This(Playability) is where your weakness has become your greatest strength! With all that extra space I see Sims having no problem routing effectively, especially during those busy hours as you had demonstrated perfectly in your screens.

Bigger pictures would be helpful (like, at least 1000 pixels wide – I usually do 2000 X 1200 px) It's hard to judge what you can't see.
The Fire Marshall would like to see a back door added – maybe in the staff room?
I'm really not a fan of the checkerboard tile... it is not relaxing, and all your blues are clashing. Those curtains don't fit the windows either. Businesses really don't “need” curtains... you could either leave them out or use better-fitting CC curtains.
I do like the use of the Race-car carpets. And I like the contrast you made with the décor in the workroom, as opposed to the showroom. I think adding a “tired shopper” chair in the showroom would be nice touch too, as would a bit more landscaping.
Building more is how you get better, and your build is not so bad. It has some shape and a nicely trimmed flat roof
I took your picture into Word and enlarged it, but it is now quite blurry.
I would suggest making the rooms smaller.
The car track carpet is a cute addition.
The awnings are nice and it’s good to see some dirt under the plants. The first thing I noticed was the blank wall with a tiny window on the front. I would leave large blank walls for the back or side and add a larger window to the front.
needs more landscaping
I think it is playable.
Comments:
The simplistic approach is nice, but I feel that you can do better. Don't be afraid to experiment and take inspiration from other lots. If there is ever a better time to go all-out, a contest is certainly the perfect time.
I like the blue and brown theme on the interior, I also like how you made use of those road floors. They remind of when I was a kid playing on those car rug mats. Kudos given for that. The interior overall gives a kid-like feel which is great for a toy shop. However, I don't think the wall paper and windows used in the kitchen area work well together. I would suggest experimenting a little more and find a colour pallette that compliments.
What I do like about the exterior of your lot is the brick walls. They work well with the flat roof design you went for. I also like the beige floor patio thing you did outside near the front and the benches are a nice touch too. I feel the lot landscaping might be a bit too barren though, maybe try adding a flower bed or maybe some wall ivy in your next entry?
The very spacious design compliments playability very well. I don't see any obvious errors that would make Sims get into a tizzy trying to route

I love the varied roof line, swoopy-roof bit, and multiple textures used on the exterior. This looks like a business – I want to stop and see what they have for sale here.
The Fire Marshall thanks you for the back door!
Thank you too, for including a speaker. Now it will be “fun” to browse.
The only improvement I can see – would be to add a “tired shopper” chair in the showroom.
Your color palette really pulls everything together. Nice subtle use of CC too.
Great build and well laid out.
Nicely decorated. I love that the snow yeti has a snowflake mirror.
Very stylish. The outside and inside follow the same theme and I like the stone contrast. A decent amount of landscaping. Cute store sign.
Comments:
I love this design, it looks exactly like something I'd create myself and because of that it will be difficult for me to give you any constructive feedback.. Just overall a really great job here.
Your lot is designed very well with a couple intricate design elements, such as the roof. Everything adds up nicely and demonstrates how talented you are as a builder of small lots.
Interior was given a 5 because not only are the colors matching perfectly, but they're also a bit muted which am biased for... Also I liked the subtle cracks on the walls, these type of small details and color pallette usage is nothing but a plus from me.
The exterior of this is very lovely. The light baby blue color scheme matches well with the overall mountain theme. The fan palms and cattails are an interesting addition and spice up the lot very nicely. Great choice with the doors and windows. They work well for this build too.
No obvious major problems I can see, and I found it funny that the yeti is using the workbench. Thanks for the laugh!

I know it's a toy shop, and you want it to be colorful, and it's in the half-timber Veronaville district... but I just can't wrap my eyes around the exterior “look”. Sorry.
However, I do love the 'loading bay' back entrance area! The Fire Marshall is also very pleased with it - especially with the chain-link fencing to keep the riff-raff out. What does the small fenced-in side yard accomplish?
Whoever laid the flooring in the public bathroom and upstairs production area should be fired. I think they'd had a few too many bubbles! ...and the bathroom cleaner too! Ugh. LOL!
You certainly have a lot of room for more production equipment. This could be a busy place! I hope your business thrives. A lounge/waiting chair outside the public restroom area would not go amiss. A vending machine might work well there too?
Comments:
An interesting choice with the walkway around the back. The roof over the walkway looks a bit awkward, a hipped roof might have looked better. There are too many different types of windows. The rooms are too large for the number of items which puts the floor plan off.
The shop part looks bright and inviting. Some of the bathrooms look, well… disgustingly dirty. Since this isn’t a grunge build, they don’t really fit.
Due to the size of the rooms they look very empty. Since it is a toy store you could have added a children’s play space to take up some of that room.
Try and stick to one style. The windows are bright and modern but don’t go with traditional Tudor.
Things would look more cohesive if you stuck to one or two (3 max) type of windows and keep to the same fence.
There are no plants and an empty backyard.
There will be no rout fails here, although it will take sims some time to walk from the backyard up to the staff room, I guess they are getting their steps in. 😊
Comments:
Overall the lot looks realistic enough, I can imagine it being a real shop, I'm sure Veronaville residents are glad to have such a nice new shop. The way the roof was created must've took a bit of trial and error, but it's a nice presentation.
The way you've planned your walls looks and feels like a real shop, which is always a big plus. I do think the choice to use a half-wall divider for the kitchen was a rather bold move, but it does work well for this build. I also liked the grungy walls used in the men's restrooms, it's a rather interesting addition, makes them feel a bit more 'used'. But sadly, I noticed many parts of your flooring don't line up seamlessly, they kind of get cut-off with each tile and it looks a bit odd.
Normally I'm not one for mix-matching colors, but I think for this it worked well on the windows. The big windows are a nice choice, they not only feel appropriate for the lot design, but also let in a good amount of light. The fenced back yard looks interesting and is a really nice design element when paired with the gravel terrain paint.
Playabiltity: The lot design overall lends to playability greatly, what with the big space between objects an all. BUT, one problem is with the back yard area where you have the foundation walkway. You've made it only 1-tile wide and, well, Sims can be stupid at times. If two or more Sims were to attempt to navigate that at the same time, I've no doubt foot stomping might occur. I suggest either add a second set of stairs or make the foundation 2-tile wide.

Thank you for including a parking lot and a back/side door!
I like the trees and 'planters' outside too. I would want to shop here.
Inside, your showroom looks inviting and interesting – thank you for including a speaker. The flowers will bloom longer with beautiful music in the air. I would add a “tired shopper” chair...
What are you going to do with that huge empty space upstairs? You could've still gotten an interesting roofline without a full 2nd story. Like maybe, move the production area directly above the showroom? Also, the upper level needs some windows!
Comments:
Interesting shape and overall very cute, but what is that large empty room? If you did not want another room, you could have left off the floor tiles and had it be a two-story room to the shop below.
looking at the front, the middle part of the roof might look better a few clicks lower.
I like the two tone, and the shop is laid out nicely. There is a mod to make maxis ceiling lights sit flush with the ceiling.
Nice and cohesive exterior with well planned landscaping. Obviously, this is a Tudor in modern times so they need a car park, but the lights could have been less modern looking
This lot proves you can build a complex upper floor, I will give you that. The way the roof is done looks very nice and I honestly can't think of anything that looks bad. It is a very nice presentation and displays your skill quite well.
The wall covering choices and the flooring choice really does please me from an interior design perspective. They match! I also rather liked the muted color pallette, which pair well with the tudor exterior design. Your shelves are stocked well and arranged in a very pleasing manner.
I rather like the way you used the columns, and once again the muted colors are pleasing to look at too. Nice window choice too. And those flowerbeds? I like them. I would definetly stop by here if I were a Sim. And I'd even have a place to park my car! Which is a big plus that you included a parking lot, and having it helps boost the score.

WOW! ...even with an orange flower! I love it! This is a very creative lot. Great job!
Your colors inside are very cohesive, and your use of the space inside is great. It's not easy using those diagonal walls. I think, in lieu of the shower room, I'd rather there was a back door. The Fire Marshall agrees – safety and all that. (And it cost you a point.)
You also combined the staff room with the production area. As this is a SMALL business, I will allow that. I think it works in this case. (But, don't be surprised if another judge docks a point for combining the rooms.) Also... as I mentioned on other entries – a “tired shopper” chair would be a nice addition.
Comments:
Wow, just wow. That is some CFE skills.
I have no idea how you made that flowerpot but it’s awesome
Nicely laid out with plenty of decor. I am not a huge fan of the dark colour scheme. It feels rather Victorian which does not match the bold exterior,
I love the flowerpot, it’s such a clever idea, but there is a lot of bare ground. Maybe you could have done something on the other side to balance the cute bus seating on the left.
Good job making everything playable with all the angles. I went and checked the OFB shelves in game and they work fine on a diagonal.
A giant flower pot? Certainly a unique entry, one which will be difficult to judge admitedly, but one I am glad to have seen.
I mean, it's a giant flower pot. Haha. It must've not only took a lot of patience to make, but also displays how much skill and creativity you have.
Your store shelves are nicely stocked and seem to have a lot of variety of items to purchase. The color scheme with the red floors and green walls gives a very intimate and holiday-like feel which I rather enjoyed having.
I admit, there isn't much you can do on the outside of the flower pot. My only suggestion is maybe you could have added some decorative wall cracks, to you know, look like a real clay flower pot. It's a small nit-pick, and I'm not going to hold you against it. Just simply saying if you had done that detail, it would've been nice as I'm a sucker for small details like that.

Unfortunately I have to dock you half a point for not separating the production area from the staff room. Incredible lot!

Thank you for specifying what/where the phone and fire alarm are.
...and for keeping the 'orange corner' separate from the other, much nicer, flora. (LOL!)
The Fire Marshall thanks you for the back door too.
You have combined the staff room with the production area – sort of – you also have an outdoor patio that is perfect for taking breaks. I will consider those 2 separate areas.
I like the quiet “dirt” color palette you used, it really lets the colors of the flowers “pop” - and that is what one notices in your shop – the flowers. The greenhouse is a nice addition too.
While I like the outside textures you used, and I see that this shop matches the other shops on your street... I just can't give full marks for the front facade. It is boring. (Sorry!) The back view is waaaay more interesting to look at.
Comments:
I like the addition of the greenhouse. The roof could have a slightly lower pitch, but overall very cute and an interesting floor plan.
Interior:
Very pretty and inviting, I like this a lot.
Exterior:
Very cute. I love all the pot plants. Not sure the awning really fits an historical time period
Comments:
This lot overall displays two things – That you have great Your lot feels very inviting and the way you've arranged your exterior outer walls and then paired them with the lovely awning in the front helps give that feeling skill and good execution of your concept.
What I like about this interior is the abundance of lovely flowers to buy. Your store shelves are very nicely stocked, and are presented in a very appealing way. The wall choice, flooring choice and color choice of your doors and windows all pair well together, and remind me a bit of the flower market in Sims 1, which is a plus,
I really like the muted color pallette, and the greenhouse in the back was very nice to see and blends nicely with the rest of the building. I also give you props for the outhouse. It's not something you really see on too many lots, and because of it's uniqueness, having it helps boost my scoring of your exterior design. The only thing I think would've been great to see was an area for cars (or carriages, I guess?) to park, even if it was merely decorative. Consider adding one (or two or three...) parking bays to your next entry. They don't even need to be paved, and could just be dirt or gravel bays.
Firstly let me start by saying thank you for letting us know about the scroll in a box. The overall floorplan works well for routing and I don't see any major obvious issues with routing. I can see you had playability in mind and intend to use this lovely lot for use after the contest ends.
Requirements (host) - 4.5
The production area and the staff room cannot share a space.
As for the bathroom - I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here - I asked for a bathroom with a toilet and a sink. I presume the outhouse is oe of those all-in-one things, though.
However, if this was essential in choosing a winner, I would have docked you! Adding a fountain type of thing where sims can wash their hands would have worked well.
I love the lot, and the flowers, and the greenhouse.

You went for an interesting 'cabin' shape, and had to deal with those blasted roof bits. Gah! Why didn't they make the roofs work better? You compensated for it well though – good job! I like the awning in front too – that helps. Thank you for including a secondary entrance. I like the outdoor landscaping (and parking space) too, it is all very welcoming.
What I don't like are the stairs. I don't like seeing the backside of stairs. It would look better if the staircase was walled off, out of sight. I like what you did with the indoor awning over the cash register – that's a cute idea – but I would like, visually, to see the other two posts, so maybe shorten the counter to 2T instead of 3T? And why not a wooden floor? ...to complete the cabin-ey vibes.
Comments:
Nice use of CFE, good floor plan and an interesting roof.
Very cute. Everything is laid out well and nicely decorated.
The teddy bear tea party is adorable
Outside is just as cute. Well landscaped and a good use of the space.
All looks playable even with the tiny space
Comments:
The Wooden Bear. I really like that name. And it suits perfectly for the lot design and theme. A lovely entry.
The lot overall is a very strong and lovely entry, I think it displays your skill set amazingly well, and lest not we forget that really intricate roofing. The usage of big display windows on the front facade really do make or break a lot for me, however – for this lot here they made it. A really nice addition and it helps let visitors see your great displays too.
I love the way the teddy bears are presented with that tea set. It's a very inviting arrangement and conveys the bear theme of your lot very well. I like the tan tile used on the shop floor as it compliments the green painted walls, as also does your overall colour theme choice.
Obviously a lot called “The Wooden Bear” should be made of some wood, but I think the color choice of the wood works great with the green railing. The roof is very interesting and reminds me of a barn. Maybe that's an idea for round 2? Anyway, the stone flooring you chose is really nice and compliments the wood very well. The landscaping is done nicely too. I like the flowerbed arrangement by the bear statue.
Playability:
I would love to give this a 5, but sadly can only give this a 4. the reason for this is because of the roof display thing (not sure what to call it) above the cash register. I don't know if this will cause routing errors.
Comments:
Oh! A cute 2-step foundation! And nice use of architectural bits (window boxes etc) around the front. YAY! And a swoopy-roof too! Squeeeeee
This is a very SMALL business. And, I think you could've divided the space better? The bathroom only needs 4T, and the staff room seems pretty cramped. The Fire Marshall would like to see a back door added too.
But – I absolutely LOVE the “look” of it! Your colors are beautiful, and your decorative plants are very pretty. I can't wait to see what you give us in Round 2
An interesting roof choice but I like it.
The off set upper story and the built in planter really make this into a cute build.
Floor plan and window choice is decent.
I can see you papered the walls and that there are some pot plants, but it is otherwise bare as far as I can tell and upstairs there is a large empty room.
when sims line up for the till, they will block the section to the back.
Your pictures are a little too small for me to properly see, and the lack of inside shots means I really can’t see your decor. Floor plans only show the placement not how your shop looks when you walk into it. Please take many inside shots so we can see your hard work!

A very small but interesting lot with a rather cute design. Nice entry, great theme.
I really like the usage of the two-step foundation. It is something I have used and created myself, however a foundation is just that. There is more to a building, obviously, but I think this lot displays well enough your skillset. You are experienced enough, but I do think you could expirment a bit more, and try to use even more complex design elements. Overall though, this lot build is very nice.
The wall and floor choices pair well together. The store shelves are nice and stocked with a decent arrangement and options to chose from. I really like the detail of the exit sign, however the bottom floor exit sign makes no sense as it points to no outside exit door. If there was a fire, why would people run into the bathroom? I suggest keeping the sign, but moving it closer to the front door since that's your only exit.
I love the beautiful display of flowers in the front, and the awning too. The blue wall color choice pairs well with the muted honey-mustard yellow color of the windows. The roofing choice is a rather bold choice, but it is rather nicely done I think and helps convey that fairytale storybook theme.
The small design of the bathroom and way the sink was placed would likely cause routing errors and foot stomping if one Sim is using the sink while another tries to enter the room and use the toilet. That's the only error I noticed, the rest of the lot looks playable.

(Pretty lot, I like it very much).

Looks like a fun toy barn! The showroom looks like a kid's dream come true. You have a lovely playful presentation going on in there.
Now if those blasted roof bits would just play nice, and line up properly!
The Fire Marshall thanks you for the side entrance – and installing a fire alarm in the kitchenette. Speaking of... you could've added one more kitchen counter over the stair well (if you wanted one more, that is).

I like the front balcony, it adds interest.
The building to the side is rather large and blocky. When looking at the floor plan you can see that the workspace is huge. The size also makes the roof very large and cumbersome looking. The small windows would look better one above the other.
Nice and bright with plenty of items and decor. If the space were smaller there would be less empty space.
Are the logs for making wooden toys? Cute idea.
The front is inviting, but there could be some more landscaping with the spare money.
Everything looks usable.
Picture 22 is confusing; I take it this is part of picture 1?
It would be better if a room was in ust one shot.
An interesting take on a barn. I get a very Toy Story 2 “Al's Toy Barn” feel from it. Maybe that was your inspiration?
like the barn theme, I think it's a pretty nice Toy Story 2 nod. But does this mean Josh steals toys? Lol
The lot overall is a nice design and it shows that you have great potential to further wow me in the next round.
The white wood floor with the wall covering style is an interesting choice, and it looks presentable.
Your shop displays are very nicely cluttered with a large amount of options for the customers. The corner staircase is a nice addition. The floorplan is spacious, which is a plus. I like the detail of the moving boxes, and lastly, the use of the toy car road rug gives me a bit of nostalgia from my childhood since I used to play on those. So I give kudos for having included that.
While the overall barn-like feel is there with the outside wall choices, I can't help but the roofing could've been done a bit better. There are parts where is obvious that you used different angles. My suggestion is try experimenting with the roof angle tool/cheat a bit more and try to achieve a seamless or almost-seamless look in your next entry. Roofing design is hard to get down but is important to me and to the overall quality of your contest entry and lot build.
As said, plenty of space here for Sims to route, I see no obvious errors that would cause feet stomping.

A nice idea, and I think the lot has a lot of good points!
Thank you again for your beautiful entries and looking forward to see what you are going to do in Round 2!
Nice to see I wasn't too far off in terms of score from the other judges. makes me a bit happy
I'd like to make a very small request from our contestants going into round 2, please include a screenshot as an extra showcasing that your cash register or restaurant podium (in the case of round 2) can be accessed by Sims... Since I do not have access to play-test these lots for myself, I can only judge by what you show me, and without an 'extra' screen showing your register or podium being interacted with, it does make it hard to me to know if all is well... Thank you.

Side note; if anyone would like me to elaborate a bit better on my comments for their entry, please feel free to send me a private message. I don't bite. Unless you want me to.

Agreed. But I made quite a few spelling mistakes in my commentary. Luckily the overall message can still be understood.

Yes, a pond counts as an entertainent item! (I put ponds at restaurants too and my nature sims find it very entertaining)
Oops, I think I should have probably marked down for round 1 then even though the water was too radioactive to fish (i.e, too shallow so the option didn't come up! ). But even so, I'm such a cheat, everyone throw rotten tomatoes at me. *boooo*

I can see that the water is too shallow (and the fish is probably all dead). No worries
