I love this lot and don’t see any reason to deduct points for building skills, because I don’t think using CFE or anything like that would improve this lot.
Lovely roof, good choice of windows, wall papers and floors.
The interior is lovely too, except that I will miss a mirror in the bathroom. The exterior is perfect (I love the way you used the columns) and while I, personally, would like more bowling alleys for my sims, the lot is perfectly playable. (I would love to put this lot in my own hood)!

Your exterior is perfect! Even without knowing it is a Bowling Ally, you just KNOW that's what it is! I love the kitschy colors and roof angles.
The back view roof angle might've wanted to come down one or two degrees to meet the columns better... but then, maybe the 2-story windows would've had issues???
I would have put a high privacy window in each of the bathrooms, but that's just my claustrophobia talking. Your bathrooms are nicely done. I even like the slightly mismatched tile... but I'm missing mirrors?
I see what you are trying to do with the inside awning – but I think, since it conflicts with the burger-thing's backdrop, it would be better if left out all together.
I love that there's a back door and a back patio. I'm not seeing a fire alarm with the stove though.

A very light and good-looking lot from you, lovely floorplan, great interior and neat outside. I don’t see an outside door, it is always better to prevent stomping.
I always like windows/glass, letting the natural light through.
Lovely use of plants, interesting floorplan and a very good idea too! I don’t like the showers, some sims are shy!
Still, a lot you can be proud of, and, as always from you, one that is quite unique.

What an interesting looking building. I really like how you tied together the outdoor planter plants and the indoor oasis plants. It suits the desert atmosphere nicely.
Those open showers {shudders} is that how RL gyms are? I would need some privacy! However, I think your sims will be fine with the three toilets available to them. Thank you for adding an employee bathroom.
I'm not really enjoying the 'mint' colored paneling, or the lime bathroom tiles. I like the olive and cream palette in the other areas. Maybe if the paneling was the lighter wood color, I'd like it better. The floor plan is interesting though – and I can see that your sims will enjoy it.
If the cafe “cooks” food, (and it looks like is does) then it should have a fire alarm – and I'm not seeing one. There is no back exit. The Fire Marshall is concerned.

Yes! I believed that this is an opera house - until I got a peek backstage...
OK, I'll shove my inner-theatre-nerd back in the closet and realize that sims don't really need a green room, props storage, dressing rooms, or costuming space backstage. *sigh* Also, the pit and foyer really should have carpeting. The pit needs a rehearsal piano, too.
I love how you did the box seats, and how you used the space in the auditorium. It looks like you forgot to put in a ceiling? But there is an emergency exit, thank you!
The outside front area, where the columns are, should not be a popcorn ceiling.
I like your “look” though, and the landscaping is very nicely done.

Thank you for the closer pictures.
While the outside shell is deceptively small and basic it hides a lot inside.
Good use of stage and foundation tool. I really like the orchestra pit and box seat areas.
I get you were trying to add interest with the dome roof but it doesn’t quite work for me.
Interior - Here you really captured the look and feel of a fancy small Opera House. The colours and textures used all say that this is for wealthy and decerning sims.
Outside is rather plain and doesn’t match the inside energy. Maybe some more pavement, a fountain, some gardens. It feels like it was plopped down onto an expanse of grass.
I noticed the pond so its good you added something, although I doubt this type of clientele would be fishing in their finery.

The roof is pretty and the lot is lovely, but it is hard to know what it is from the outside. With not many windows at the front, it may be a bakery/sweet/ice cream shop! A sign – or some roller skates somewhere – would have made a huge difference to me.
Pretty though, with a lovely colour scheme and objects well placed. Looks like a lot of (sweet, sweet) fun too and (giggles at the skeleton) if any sim can play around in it. (Skating dinosaur tempts me to give you an extra point).

The 2 separate buildings don’t work for me. The long building is just a bit too long (perhaps an L-shaped or U-shaped building would have worked better).
The interior is rather nice, though, and the floorplan is good. I just don’t like sims entering straight into the performance area, a little lobby would have made more sense. I like the stage and the balcony. I think the choice of wallpapers and floors could also have been a bit more upscale, but it is not boring.
I like the tree on the hill, landscaping looks nice. The posters are not quite the answer to making that long grey wall interesting imo, perhaps breaking up the wall paper with something like musical wallpapers would have helped. But the posters do make it a tiny bit more interesting. Personally, I am not sure if anything could really improve that long wall!
Definitely a fun lot to play, and the kids dancing along look too cute!

That's a whole lotta grey there... but OK, it makes sense. And the posters are appropriate for the venue. I don't understand why the entrance alcove is stark white – I'd think it would be the same cinderblock as used in the side of the building. And why did you use the purple storybook stairs? The tavern building (especially the back side) is too white as well. It would look better if that building was done to match the Fay's Fieldstone wallpaper.
The ground cover and landscaping is nice.
Thank you for remembering fire alarm(s) and the back doors.
I like the tiered balcony and auditorium. And you made your color choices work inside. Although, I'm not a fan of the 2nd story wallpaper over the stage. Maybe putting the flames around the top and a matched solid blue(?) around the bottom level, would be more cohesive. A curtain across the transition from dressing room to stage, would also be appropriate. Why did you fence the square in front of the stage stairs? (And not fence all the way back to the stage?) If you don't want riff-raff climbing on stage, just delete those stairs altogether.
The lot design and room layout is good. I'm seeing improvement! Keep working at it!

I like the use of stage tool including the dressing room area. The balcony is a nice addition. I don’t think the separate staff room and bar really work but it does help use up some land. The main building is blocky due to its size with a lack of windows on the front.
Inside feels like a fun social vibe. I like the windows from the office looking onto the stage.
The bar area feels kind of flat, and due to the overall size, I can see you had to go for cheap paint and deco again. Just making things a bit smaller can save money for these things.
It’s good to see a variety of landscaping. The blank grey walls facing two roads (even with the small posters) make this look like a prison. There are large murals by ninth wave and others you could have used to make this an exciting focal point.

Good to see the Tudor walls inside in keeping with the outside. You could have continued with more rustic furniture instead of the chrome laminate tables. I really like the boxing ring, a unique idea.
I also like the large windows so those above can look out onto it. Overall, very realistic.
The flat roof area might have looked better with some fence trimming, maybe leaning more into the castle look.

Beware of the fire marshall, I think there is no extra door?
You are getting closer to a perfect entry. I think the difference would be in a bit of extra attention to the landscaping, and, since this is Strangetown, something for all those alien kids running around (I am sure the Curious boys would love to rock up with their kids some time, and teach them where they come from). Thank you for the very pleasant tour. The tea is delicious! And, I must admit I noticed that Ms Silke's profile mirrors Nikolai's with a somewhat familial similarity.
I think I would like the roofline better if the mansard roof ran along the sides too. The central entrance with pediment, columns, and stairs is impressive. Did you run out of funding to do a “proper” roof? Also... shouldn't the front stairs have handrails?
The landscaping, front patio, and wedding arch areas are very pretty.
Thank you, again, for pointing our your period defaults.
The interior flooring (downstairs) – I like how you delineated areas by using the different floors of that set... I just think it looks more like painted cement, or patio tile than a Grand House interior floor. A parquet would've suited better (IMHO.)

You did a great job insetting the greenhouse roof/sunroof. And I like your big focal point - the stained-glass windows. I'm not sure the modern pool ladders and diving board work, it seems like they should be of an older style. The interior arch/columns and the iron fence denote an earlier, non-modern era.

This has turned out quite well for somebody who had to fix the game first! Thank you for the effort you put into getting the lot up in time.
Nice roof you have going there. Nice work inside too. Floorplan is a bit hard to make out but looks functional. It does mean I cannot quite make out how playable the lot is. Like the décor, colour, choice of chairs and objects.
The exterior may be a bit on the boring side, and I think a bit of colour (wallpaper around the entrance), a sign indicating that it is a soft playground, etc. would have made a change there. For a venue catering for kids, it may simply need more colour. The bit of landscaping looks the start of something promising.
This lot may not be perfect, but I do like it enough to use it in my own hood! I believe my own sims and their kids would love to visit. It seems exciting enough and easy to play too.

This is an interesting build with the floor plan and levels, but I am struggling to understand what I am seeing. Is that opaque glass or is the ‘white mask’ something you added to the pictures?
Not sure why you used Asian windows on a non-Asian build.
This really seems like an exciting place, and you used a lot of creativity in making it. I wish I could load up this lot and have a look around
Exterior - This looks like a white factory that someone plopped down on the grass. I don’t think the outside would excite a child.
There is very little landscaping. The outside look and decor are as important as the inside.
Honestly not sure on the playability here as I can’t see it well enough on the overheads.
Thank you all! I really didn't think I would get a high score this round compared to the other submissions, I am very lucky to have such a lot of hard drives with such a lot of brilliant custom content to use on them!
Next round I'm going vanilla, Maxis assets only (although I will use some mods to make them work better) so we'll see how crap that turns out!
Yet again I was really amazed by others' creations for that last round, really creative building and decor. I have come away with a lot of inspiration and ideas of how to use assets! There wasn't a single lot for which I didn't think, 'darn, I wish I'd built that, I wish I'd thought to do that!'

Some replies to my feedback
Judge a, I had originally put more windows but they didn't fit in budget and as there was enough light from the open roof, I didn't think them as essential. I had originally wanted to put the bathroom downstairs but the walking space around the pool would have been only 1-2 tiles. Plants didn't fit into budget. I didn't forget them. I just couldn't make it work unfortunately. The open sign is decently visible when you go through the front door. I just didn't show it well in the photos. I hate putting those signs on the actual door as they don't move with it. Due to the roof, I had trouble getting a screenshot inside the office and staffroom. I couldn't get one that looked nice.
Judge b, I mentioned the windows and garden above. The pool ladders and diving boards are not modern in my opinion. They are made of tiles. I'll probably go back and make a recolour of them to match better with the pool tile for personal use.
Judge c, I based my build on Victorian era public baths. Not Roman. Specifically the ones in Manchester in England was my inspiration. They had stained glass windows similar to the ones I used and a similar style glass roof. I couldn't get more columns in due to budget unfortunately. Here's some photos of it. It's such a beautiful building. https://historicpools.org.uk/member...ths-manchester/

Remember that these scores are out of a possible total of 65 -- not out of a hundred. Expressed as a percentage your score of 54.5 out of 65 is equivalent to 84%. Certainly not a bare pass! The problem for you and me is the standard of the entries in this contest is just so high! Even the 49.5 that I got in Round 1, the lowest score any of us has got in the contest so far, is equivalent to 76%, which I think I'd be happy enough with in any school test. Especially bearing in mind that, at the Scottish university I went to, we were told that "God only gets 70% here"!
I was very impressed by your entry. It reminded me of some Victorian/Edwardian swimming baths in Edinburgh, some of which are now closed. I'm glad to hear that the one in Manchester seems to have survived.

@Meowingcookie - I fixed your score. Thank you for informing me!
You have not been penalized for the open/closed sign not showing in the pics (it counts under recommendations, that is why I asked). I give the marks for that.
Running out of budget is obviously what happened to your lot - as you yourself say, you just did not have money for the windows and plants? And that extra columns in the pics above make an enormous difference!
As for the screenshots, that is a recommendation and was asked for by more than 1 judge - I just put it in one place. You can always take a closer shot of these rooms with the walls down and add it to your floorplan shots if the others are not clear.
I added 1 point on the scoreboard for you for Round 2.
As you said then, your screenshots were not all that clear and I think I mistook the 2 objects inside next to the bathroom wall for those uni gaming machine things. I will admit that things got a bit hectic when HarVee could not judge at number 99, normally I probably would have asked and I am not sure why I did not.
As I have asked all along, please tell me if I have made a mistake, I honestly prefer to fix it sooner rather than later.
I am also asking all contestants to use all the screenshots available to them, it will help a lot if we can see more of everything at times.
@Meowingcookie - fixed it in the post with the scores as well - I see I put a question mark there too, I was supposed to ask. Apologies)!
I've actually been checking all the scores and there's quite a few that are wrong. I'm using excel to add them all up. I'll pass it along to you once i'm finished as there's a few totals off by more than 3 points

Thank you, I will check against the judges' sheets as well.
I fixed your scores in Round 2. My apologies, I should learn to copy and paste and stop typing in the near future!
Have also rechecked the scores for Round 3.
Edit: if anyone spots a mistake in your scores, or in somebody else's scores, please let me know and I will correct it. Thank you for the help, @Meowingcookie.
I’m really happy with how the lighting turned out. Adding one pool wall allowed natural light to come in and make it appear as if the roof gave more lighting in the second and third floor. The pool wall is a hidden catalog item and allows light to pass through instead of blocking it. https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=679658
Hello, I was wondering if Judge B could please let Justpetro know what I could have done to improve my build score (4 points) for Round 3? Just trying to improve for Round 4 but I also don't want to put anyone on the spot, sorry

@shastakiss - I checked the scoresheet from Judge B quickly and only 2 lots (5 each) are above 4 for build skill. I will let you know when Judge B replies

You certainly have scored a lot more points if this could fit in your budget I tend to think that the windows alone may have made a notable difference in your score, simply because it is that first look/ first impression thing. (I hope you will upload it)!
I too love the baths - they reminded me of the Royal Pump Rooms in Leamington Spa (it has since been converted into a library with the mezzanine level and glass roof intact).
I like the sound of the pool walls - they seem useful for certain kinds of builds.
Thanks for the kind comments on my lot. Unfortunately I have a few issues to work out before I could upload it, I think.
Firstly, the slides - they cannot be uploaded with lots partially because of Phaenoh's policy, but partially because I believe they bring some code with them which is a no-no. I am not clear whether deleting the slides would leave the code behind.
But also, they don't work properly. I didn't have time to test this in depth and I think I will also look at the actual code in the files as well but I've had issues with these slides before and it was the same on this lot. I thought I'd fixed it because someone said it's stages they don't work on, so I was careful to only use them between full height walls and the floor or foundations and full height. I also made sure that all the empty tiles surrounding them had the correct "ceiling" clearance even if there was no flooring above there. But it seemed that once a sim got stuck in one of the slides one time, they all got completely broken and from then on nobody could use a slide at all, even in another lot in the neighbourhood. I don't have any clue what is going on there, but now I know a little more about modding, I will have a poke around and see if anything makes sense to me.
I did manage (after submitting my entry) to use the object model from the custom ball pit and place it onto the files from a rug rather than a coffee table, that is now working, so sims can walk through. But it's enormously high poly - about 7k per tile. So absolutely not suitable for an item where there are multiple on a lot - I think there are about 50 on this lot so... bye bye FPS. (Though my computer seemed to handle it just fine, I wouldn't want to foist that on somebody else's computer!) I know nothing about meshing so I don't know if it's possible to simplify the mesh - I assume so, but I don't know how to do it.
I can confirm that it is very playable based on the test sims I took there, aside from the slides not working. Everything else works and nothing gets blocked - aside from the door to the changing area, but that's no bad thing, as in real life you'd have a lock on a door like that whereas in TS2 there is no automatic locking for changing rooms.
The outside is boring - but that's what these places tend to look like. Big old warehouses on industrial estates. But yes, the exterior was very much in running out of time mode. And good point that I forgot lights in various rooms, and mirrors in the toilets! Oops!
The layout was very tricky to show with screenshots - perhaps I could have planned my photos more carefully to show how each level works.
Asian windows - no reason. I just liked them. Although actually when I was taking the front photos, I was reminded of this (which is a real building - a Kindergarten, which is daycare/early education for ages 2-6, and exists near me IRL) which I must try to build in the game!
Check out my thoughts on Psymchology (Sim Psychology) - latest post is on the main six aspirations.
@simsfreq
I like the Asian windows too!
My grandson was very impressed with your lot.
He also ran to his room a bit later and came back with 2 blue and 2 red balls and told me we were going yo dodge balls now 🤩
Hello, I was wondering if Judge B could please let Justpetro know what I could have done to improve my build score (4 points) for Round 3?
Hiya Shasta - that's me. I was judge B, this round.
But remember, Justpetro shakes things around each round; I'm not always Judge B.
From the very beginning of this contest... when all ya'll brought out your big guns, from the start
...I decided I would judge the "skill" portion like this:
5 - WOW! Skillz were used here! CFE, or an incredibly difficult shape, or the Grid-Adjuster was used - and used really well (for more than just a 2-step foundation - which is neato-bandito, but pretty easy, really, to do.) 4 - nice - the building looks good, there is "interest" in the roof, or proportions, etc... 3 - good, average building - no mistakes 2 - less than average - with obvious rookie mistakes 1 - sigh ...I bet your game has a great CAS section, doesn't it
I also don't .5 anything. I believe the scores will be diverse enough without messing around with half points.
I hope that helps? I can't wait to see what you build next.
