I would say you are looking in the wrong config folder or not seeing the end of the file name.
Documents> EA Games>The Sims 2 (or whatever name your set up gives your Sims 2 folder) >Config folder. Inside will be a file ending in Config-Log.txt

It was actualy on the "Logs" folder inside "The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection" folder. Thanks.

First, I know my method is not orthodox because I struggled for a huge decade before really playing my game as stable as it is now.
All the fixes, the tips shared didn't really help me until I had find my own way to shup up the crashes for good. So my solution fit better, quite rebellious computers, that nothing worked until now. Honestely playing the sims 2 is a dream come true now.
Until recently I couldn't open my game without crashes.
So as casual, be aware of what you do. I am daredevil with my sims games (with all), I dare to do things non recommanded by everybody.

Now about polycounts/tiles, I know I am not a 3D expert, (too much wearing for my brain, I cannot follow, too much messy, nothing taught works) so I have to blindly trust what a creator/converter says. Anyways if they mentionned something high, I don't download. I have no options if so to play vanilla but that's boring. Not too much personnal. Of course, for the sims 2, the less you've got the best and fast it works.
But since I change my mindset about what I am downloading, things are better even though I still have a very heavy download folder, this time it's the CAS part which eats the huge part of the cake.
So that's why we must be cautious in what we download, this is quite important.

If you want my honest opinion, last time I forgot to unzip some cc I put in the downlaod folder, I could play on live mod no issues.How weird lol.


Now the only problem I got is RAM, I never see my game goes belong to the fatidical 2GB of ram even when my game were unstable, true ! Even with 26 Gb of content. But the loading time is quite slow, despite the renaming, despite everything, so I rarely play it.I have still got a HDD. The loading time after selecting a household (I hope this is the right name !!) is slow too. The rest is fast. (the live mod, the loading catalog of buy/build, the cas is a bit slow because of the huge amount of cc but after it's quick)
I don't remember if I applied the 4Gb patch I can't tell you. I did patch my game with ea patches.
As I got windows 10 , I am cautious of using the compatibility mod. It doesn't do any harm. To me it's logical, especially EA didn't bring compatibility on sims 2...perhaps with the Ultimate collection...I do not possess it. I play with CD copy. Just reminds a lot of simmers don't have the UC. I missed it I wasn't aware nobody told me even I was on Tumblr at that time. I posted ts3 much the only game that worked between the two.

Yes Logs folder, I must have had 'config' on the mind when I wrote that.

And I would say given your numbers there it may not be working, how much RAM and other computer specs do you have @Ricardé ?
