By the way, I can confirm that this mod fixes the alien abduction bug in the Sims 2 Legacy edition. I've just tested that out and it works now. Here's a list of other mods that can help fix the game (still a work in progress).

After many thoughts back and fourth, I still decided to buy the Sims 2 Legacy lol. Just so I can try to find the bugs and maybe possibly help other simmers on how to fix their game.

One positive thing is that I can play The Sims 2 Legacy separate from my actual TS2 game, so I can use this to set up different save files lol.

"It's 'working as expected' for our game to throw constant errors lol, just turn off debug mode so you don't see them!" EA is a fucking joke.

I found some other issues, in addition to the endless list of bugs already mentioned:

• Newly learned pet commands don't appear in the "Learned Commands" panel, and teaching a pet any command automatically teaches it three others (wtf?).
• Lots in the lot bin have messed-up tags, icons for the wrong EPs. FreeTime is tagged as base game, Kitchen & Bath is tagged as FreeTime, and Apartment Life is tagged as base game or IKEA (in the case of having it manually installed). Lots from M&G are duplicated.

Every day I am more and more impressed with how they managed to screw this up. They had ONE JOB. Make the game work on win 10 and modern graphics cards. And yet, they somehow messed up the Manage Inventory primitive, audio quality, UI, teaching commands, lot bin tags, unlocking pet career rewards, loading screens on vacations, and made the character files disappear. Two people even reported that the color of their Sims' car turned yellow on its own... which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Seriously, how is this even possible? They must have some special talent.

Yep. that's why I affectionately call this rerelease the Butcher edition.

This annoys the crud out of me as well, but I don't think it's a bug. It's a "feature" because they have those new sweeping staircases in M&G and they didn't have a way to isolate those particular stairs and block them from being placed next to a wall, in order to prevent a purely graphical glitch of the staircase clipping through the wall. So they took the sledgehammer approach and blocked all staircases from being placed next to walls, because, uh, that's not a common place to put a staircase or anything

I don't think I have ever placed the sweeping staircase, maybe literally once ever. In 99% of my houses, stairs are placed by the wall. For support. LIKE THEY ARE IRL. Thank goodness for cheat aliases, but I hate having to toggle moveobjects on and off all the time anyway. I would 1000% rather have the M&G staircase glitch through the wall, since I can just, IDK, choose not to place it there.

It's so incredibly frustrating the mess they made of this game starting with FreeTime but basically any further EPs and M&G particularly. I like a couple of the M&G additions like the extra roof pieces, the better architectural sort (good for CC, though most CC is pre-M&G or compatible with mac, so isn't sorted there!) and the roof slider tool but some of the incredibly sloppy coding like shading their eyes without checking if they are holding any items Just STOP!

They also introduced sliding down the bannister in M&G. I think that's causing the issue with stairs.

Which is why I never use regular stairs inside a house.

I'd say the bugs/issues/whateverthecr*p the Legacy players seem to be experiencing, that's extreme, and I'd go as far as to say it's corruption - particularly the disappearing sims and files going missing/getting deleted. It should not be happening in normal gameplay.

This version of the game seems completely self-destructive...

Only time I can remember having completely lost a sim was when I put one on the "magisplay tray" item for a photoshoot (It's a long time ago now, and it's possible there were ways to get him back that I didn't know about at the time). I can't remember a single instance of a self-deleting sims (apparently it can be an issue with OneDrive or the Mac version, though - and now the Legacy version).

The only time I lost a pixel was way, way back in about the 2nd year I was playing the game. And I got him back.

This disaster is leaving a very very bad taste in new players mouths.

EA blew this to hell if they wanted to rejuvenate the franchise.

Such a lost opportunity.

So apparently, there is a new update. They fixed the problem with Manage Inventory and a few other things, but the bugs I reported in the previous post still occur. And I found something new today.
I adopted the puppy, it grew into an adult dog, and then I left the game without saving. When I entered this family again and wanted to adopt the same dog, it looked like an adult but had the age group of a puppy. I ended up with a completely bugged dog, this problem can be repeated every time on every save.

I have the mod in which stops sims from sliding down custom bannisters but I either rarely use vanilla stairs, or the mod is a bit too over-eager, because when I was testing a mod in a vanilla environment sims kept sliding down a regular, straight object staircase's bannister. It made me want to take the mod out, because it was such a cute animation! I can't remember why I even put it in now (I am sure if I remove it, I'll find out).

I... feel like pets and sims being in a bugged age state is an old bug?? I don't recall if it was patched or if I had a to get a bugfix.

Aw hell yeah, they fixed the voices sounding like shit! That had been driving me nuts! Oh yeah, they also fixed manage inventory I think. I guess that's probably more important due to all the issues that caused.

Ok, I've updated with some other problems, and italicized and noted the things that EA claims to have fixed, or that I have seen people say have been fixed, or which I suspect may be fixed for other reasons.

I think lot bin apartment lots are possibly incompatible with Legacy. Every lot I have placed that was already set as an apartment has been a guaranteed crash, while custom lots that are not initially apartments and must be re-zoned to apartments function properly.

What is not normal is that so many errors related to corruption appear, it is clear that they have broken something critical and are charging people for a ticking time bomb, all to sabotage the community. And on top of that they have the indecency to spend a lot of money on that advertisement that makes fun of all of us. It is one of the most deplorable things that EA has done so far, and there are many.

I unfortunately bought the EA version of TS2 Legacy because I only ever had the original disc version and lost those some years ago when moving. My question to you, or anyone here tbh, is it possible to keep EA sims 2 legacy and also download UC from Osab"s starter pack? Or do I have to uninstall or put ea files elsewhere as to not conflict with each other? My reason for wanting to now hold on to ea legacy is to have an actual copy.

Basically, can I have both at same time? I'm not very techie and am scared that I just won't be able to figure out Osabs.

@RaineStormy1994 I thought I read that both instalations are independent so you can have both, I'm sure someone here can confirm that for you.

They won't install in the same place, and I believe they don't even share a Documents location (I've heard that the Legacy uses a folder called The Sims 2 Legacy or something along those lines), so I don't think there's any reason they should conflict.

A fresh delivery of bugs I found!

• Newly created beach lots seem to be completely glitched. They have incorrect terrain paint or just crash when loading.
  
• The mailbox is missing a lot of debug options from testingcheats, what is even stranger - it happens only on the English version of the game, when I change the language to Polish, all options appear.
