I searched around a little but I couldn't find the answer to this. I think there is a way to make your house have many floors, like 9 or 10 of them. How do I do this? I only have Pets so if I need another expansion could you tell me which one? Thanks

setHighestAllowedLevel [number] - Sets the amount of floors allowed (so you can build higher).
** Some users have reported this cheat does not always work/does not work at all for them after installing Open for Business. However, there is a trick that one can use to get more levels (works with any EPs or base game only)... Build up to the highest level you can. On that top level, place a dormer (they're in with the roofs and such). This will let you build one more level up. Put a wall or something up on that next level. Remove the dormer (ctrl-click and drag with the wall tool, remove roofs). Continue building on your new level. Repeat as necessary.

After around the ninth floor it gets tricky in attempt to furnish it, since the game was never designed for it, you can only scroll out so far, and good luck in trying to furnish a tenth floor.

It has 16 floors wich i think is the maximun the game can handle before it crashes.
To build above 9 or so use the other view the one with the hotkey T, the one where you look from above

Cool, I didn't know you could build that high! 10 floors is maybe more than I could handle, but it'd be cool to have a house with 5 or 6 floors. Thanks for the info!

Oh, this is a great idea! When I'm driving around and I see unusual homes or buildings, I think about how to recreate a Sims version. A while ago I saw a house made out of an old barn, with rooms even in the silo (like a tower). I don't think I could make a round silo, but octagonal is close enough.

The cheat works in all games including original but is more difficult. after uni ep you put the cheat and thats all.

BTW the only way to see a 16 storey in full glory, is from the neighborhood screen, if you enter the lot you can't see the whole building at once. No good for screenshot sharing.

Yes you can in first person view (TAB). I modified some text files and now can go higher in first person.

I haven't got any modified camera txt files so thats my limit is always 9 floors, I could go 15 or higher if I could zoom out further.

Thanks for the tip, KinkyAcid! I tried it (the version with the dormers, since I've tried the cheat before with no success) and it worked like a charm! Now my apartment has four stories AND a roof AND is built on a foundation! :D
