See, you messed up all ready.
The movie was bad. Really really bad. Its really hard to think the movie is good once you see the musical live.

I realize the last post was forever ago but felt I should put my opinion out there

Both live musical and movie were fantastic. I cried when I saw both but live it's much more beautiful. The movie is just kind of there and not meaningful.
All in all the musical is better but in my opinion, the movie was amazing as well.

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with CMPunk Girl, I'm afraid! I'm a hardcore Phan at heart, but I have to admit, the first thing that got me into Phantom? The 2004 movie. I'd never heard of it before then, and could much less afford a ticket to go and see the musical. The film reached out to a wider audience and introduced a lot of people to Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical. Since actually seeing the show twice now in London, and watching countless clips on Youtube of the real thing, I appreciate just how great the original is compared to the movie - but the movie got me into it, so it holds a place in its own right. That said, there is a lot they could have done with the film... but then again, it's better than the Dario Argento version! *gulps*

Aww CMPunk Girl you cried too? I totally wept my eyes out at the end! The first time I saw it in the West End, the Phantom was Ramin Karimloo. The Christine kinda sounded like Glinda from Wicked though -very high-pitched and almost whiny-sounding!

Gosh, I know ¬¬ I feel old now you say that - six years ago, darn! Oh well. I'm hoping to go and se the show again some time as I'm popping down to London with a friend in late August. Has anyone here got a favourite part of the original musical they love? Stage Raouls are often not so foppish - one time, scarily so! The guy playing Raoul was built like a wrestler, and looked like a bouncer. When Raoul looks more intimidating than the Phantom, you know you've got a problem...
