Mannequin that can wear anything !
I'm working on a mannequin that can wear anything. Every mannequin that already exists are meshed objects so they can only wear the same mesh outfit.
I chose to make one using a real sim (NPC) instead of a mesh.
I've succeed in all basic interactions but now I need help.
1-I would like to know what you think about my creation
2-I plan to add more features but it doesn't work. I would like some help on this cause it really doesn't work : it throws a lot of error log
2a-Interaction View show clothes : sims viewing the mannequin should go to a clothing rack afterwards.
2b-Interaction View show clothes : child sims viewing the mannequin should go to their parents to claim and then the parents should go to a clothing rack afterwards.
2c- Interaction Throw to garbage (remove) : the Mannequin should run to the closest door then be deleted in a fade out.
I give up on the fade out for now (it's not in the package anymore) but it seems I can't understand the 2 primitives "set to next" and "Push interaction" (I tried "Run Tree function" but it seems to be worse) ; I have some troubles with "locomotion" too.

See below the last version of the Mannequin NPC in a folder (.rar) and a picture.
All files are needed, you get a podium in general>misc, then in live mode, the Mannequin NPC appears on the podium.
I suggest you put clothing rack and doors on the lot.
I don't think that it will crash your game but I haven't tested it right yet, and even me don't save the game when I test it.
However, it's an NPC, so it might corrupt your neighboorhood when deleting the package in the download folder. Make sure you test it in a testing neighboorhood !

meet my shopping male adult mannequin that can wear nearly anything with a few clicks !!!!
It's an Object Mod, so it doesn't override anything in the game.
Features :
So seriously, for the look of it, I'm not quite good but I tried to picture lifeless mannequin eyes and a plastic bag as the first outfit (as if you just buy the object !
) : The outfit and eyes are made by me, totally invisible in CAS and are required, althought the outfit shouldn't be required anymore after you first change the clothes.
I used maxis mannequin skin so it might vary if you have a default replacement. So DON'T TRY TO MARRY THE MANNEQUIN AND HAVE BABIES WITH IT, it will crash your game !
Furthermore, when making this wonder, I chose to add a few realistic or funny functions. To preserve the surprise, you just have to download and see...
Catalog placement :
You have to buy the podium >> general >>misc. and the mannequin just appear on it !
But you can't move the podium once it's been spawned.
What you get :
> the podium Required
> the NPC Mannequin Required
> the outfit Required
> the eyes Required
> a "beautiful" wooden recolor (made with GIMP)
Requirements :
All Animations and features are custom or from Base Game, even though EPs have been taking care of (e.g. there's outwears), so it should be Base Game compatible. BUT I have all expansions installed so ....
Credits :
I used Echo's Clown as a base/clone (but it won't override it)
I used a lot of lines in the wonderful Pescado's Clothing Tool Mods.

Better Mannequin
How do you get it to run ! Please someone help me And, if there's some good spirits, I would like it to be tested many times. Is some people can test it in their game and tell me if there is bugs ?
EDIT : Now the mannequin can run ! So let me do some last tweaks and I'll post the last version for testing.

OLC, I've added some random features for community lots and tested it, but I'm not quite sure what to expect in community lots that are owned by a playable sim ...
Honestly, I've tested it as much as I could, and I'm still not sure about bugs and requirements. If someone could help me by testing it in their game, it really would be kind of them.
I found another bug, quite annoying, the save game don't want to save the mannequin settings ! I give up on this after hours of research ...
I had decided at the begining to end it before September, whatever could have happened ! As for now, I'm really tired, so I'll decide if I ever post it, a bit later, but probably before tomorrow at noon ...

I was almost decided to post the whole thing and end with this, but you make me realize that it'll be of no use for gamers. It would be a pity : I want something perfect or nothing !
So, first, I'm astonished it took you 20 minutes to customized ! I always test my mods in a no download game, it surely made a difference. You're right : it'll be much more convenient to customize it separately.
what surprised me even more is that I was so much obsessed by the cuzstomising options that I totally missed that sims were ignoring the mannequin !!! I may have misunderstand some parameters ... Moreover, I had though about the whole push interaction "purchase" but I've tried mostly everything without any result. But with more days of work perhaps ...
I think I might totally suppress the dialog : it was my first, it was cool to do but it's not really usefull since I add a way to delete the NPC.
And I know the animation is really beurk but I couldn't think about anything else, if you have any suggestion (even if it's not a Base Game Animation) ...
At last I think the impossibility to save the parameters is irreversible, unless I transfer all the options to the podium and make a template NPC ! Moreover I know that if the NPC don't have any option, it might not turn his head anymore ...
I will clone the human statue and see. But it will be long, because Holidays are finished for me. I'll take my time, even if it takes me 2 monthes, because I think that if it's well made, it will be appreciated by at least one person !

I know what you meant by jewel but I hadn't understood what was the bug with them. Now I can tell that I was certain that bug was already fixed. Try to answer no (the cross) to the "buy jewels" dialog, it must show the jewel/accessories dialog anyway with the jewels that you had already bought for that NPC. If it don't work, It might be due to EP compatibility, because it works for me.
I'm intimely persuaded that Echo had cloned the human statue to make the clown but I will definitively try to clone it, cause it might be simpler, as you said.
EDIT : I just cloned the human statue and I can that it has random poses and even an attrbute 'current pose'. It will be really helpful, even if it means retart from the begining.

OLC, it means that if you delete the object, the one in buy mode, no corruption happens but if you delete the package itself, you have corrupted the neighborhood you put the mannequin in before since an NPC has a character file and deleting the package for it shreds the character file and breaks your neighborhood. You will not be able to play in that neighborhood again eventually since it will explode into a big fiery ball of corruption and disappear
That's why modders put warnings on downloads that have NPCS.

Starting over doesn't change the fact that this will spawn NPCs. There's nothing wrong with that, lots of people have creations that do, for example Rebecah's farm animals. The point is that once that has been in your game and your hood loaded, you can not remove it or it will corrupt things. It doesn't matter if you placed the object in that hood or not, if you opened it with the file in your downloads, it has spawned the NPC and deleting the package would be the same as deleting a Sim from the Sim bin.
I will be using a separate copy of user files to test this, if it comes to it. I suggest others who help test do the same

The effects don't show until way later, and they are not obviously connected to the deletion, so most people don't realise what has happened. Indeed, this is why the community as a whole didn't know about this kind of thing and make the connection until much later. That's why we try to share this knowledge now, so that as many people as possible have the information which will keep their neighbourhoods healthy

I understand what you say (I think...
), but I have a question : The first version that I had made is not perfect because I think it doesn't create a new NPC : it uses my package NPC and each time you customize it in game, it modifies my package, so much that in fine you don't have anymore the same file that you had downloaded first. It's one of the things I have to change.
However (and that is my question) in that case (the spawning doesn't create a new NPC), does it corrupt the game all the same ?
Anyway, I will warn people as you said. And thanks for all the advices and testing.
OLC : I have verify it : it's true that even the Human statue create a character in your neighboohood at each spawning. And it's a good thing cause I think it will permit the mannequin to keep his clothes on

Olc, you're not quite grasping it It's not the NPC that corrupts things, it's if you remove the thing containing the NPC info, in this case the package. The human statue is not dangerous, because the installation files has the info and that is not altered by removing it from a lot.
It's the exact same as when you delete a Sim in the sim bin. Deleting it will leave bits of data behind that spreads and destroys the code that is your hood. When you remove the package of an npc-creating download, it will leave bits of data behind that can't be read properly, and that will start destroying things. If you leave the package file, then the data is intact and can be read, ergo no problems.

N.B. : You can't move the podium once the mannequin has been spawned. So just delete the mannequin and buy a new podium !

There won't be a feature in this object mod to make it teen or elder ... It won't work (and should be hard to customize if the user want different mannequins on different lots). It can be made by creating a totally new object mod, though.

I have succeed in repairing amost all the things olc had pointed. But what is left is the hardest, it's for now either over my qualification (push interaction "browse clothing rack") or it needs a Global mod and so much work (different clothes for each mannequin even when reloaded) ... Oh ! I had forgotten the ugly animation ... I'm tired and overall I don't have time for now...
I know that it's not finished yet but it would be so perfect if it could be tested !
Pleeeaaase !N.B : to prevent interferences, be sure to delete all the previous mannequins and podiums that you had (when I do so, I delete all my files in the download folder (4), than I open each game where there should be a podium and a mannequin : I get a chair and a hula girl dancing instead of the podium and the mannequin, the girl disappear slowly in live mode and you can easily delete the chair).
