Default A cheap and uncomfortable bed?
That's either the same price or cheaper than the first single bed and/or the first double bed in the game, and as uncomfortable, if not more so! I have a few CC beds that are cheaper but much higher energy/comfort (if someone good direct me towards a nice simple SimPE tutorial for dimwits that will slowly and clearly explain, with pictures, how to alter the price on these to bring them in line with similar beds I'd be v. grateful!). I know about the single bed version of the Maxis Murphy bed already. Any others? I want some more realistic options for my 'down on their luck' or 'Just starting out' sims.

So, to recap, beds (single or double) that are CHEAPER and EQUALLY OR MORE uncomfortable/low energy than the cheapest Maxis beds. Thanks!!

Ooo, alternatively of course, if there's a way to change comfort/energy levels in SimPE I could do it that way with existing beds!

I'm thinking of Inge's institutional bunk beds at Simlogical. I don't know if they are cheap and uncomfortable, but the real ones they're based on generally are.

Step by Step Instructions on How to Increase Energy and Comfort for a Bed by rebecah.

Just note that instead of cloning your bed, you would open up your custom bed. And you only need to import globals if your custom bed that you are editing doesn't have the sleep bhav for you to edit. If you get stuck, you can always post on MTS and someone should come along and help you. If you don't know what values to input, then clone the base game bed and look at what it's values are in simPE.

Unfortunately, I don't have specific finds for you, as I took the opposite approach and modded all my beds to be more comfortable/higher energy, since I found that I would never use the cheap beds otherwise.

I have a few in my game that are cheap and have a comfort level of 1:

I meant it about the Simlogical Institutional beds. I don't use them myself, but they certainly look nasty and uncomfortable. They are intended for use in boarding schools and prisons. I'd be surprised if they were dear. The prison authorities won't want to spend a lot of money on beds for the inmates. You can get them here.

Thank everyone! I've downloaded all the beds recommended! Looking forward to torturing my poor skint simmies now. Mwahahahahaha. Thanks for the instructions Phantom. I'm completely new to SimPE - only ever used it to twitch at custom foods a bit. I'm going to give it a shot though, making my 'too cheap' comfy custom beds more expensive. Wish me luck!

It's me again, just 5 short years later... What I'm wondering now is how to SimPE custom beds to an energy value of 1. I downloaded the inflatable mattress, and anyone who's ever slept on one in real life knows that's an energyx1 situation! The trouble is there are no beds in the game with such a low energy gain, so no values I can copy. I don't really know what I'm doing with SimPE at all but the internet/various tutorials say to clone a bed with similar values to what you want and do it that way. There are none! perhaps because it wouldn't actually function? Anyone know?
Me? Sarcastic? Never.

MsBarrows linked bed has a value of 19, with a catalog rating of 2. That looks to be the lowest in game. If that is still too much comfort, you could try cutting the 19 in half (and rounding, no decimals). Probably 10?
