Default Fix NPCs Outfits
Hello everyone!

I believe that everyone here has had or still has problems with NPC outfits, which, thanks to the random clothing system, can give NPCs the most outrageous combinations of clothes, especially if you have the expansions: Into The Future, Supernatural, World Adventures and Showtime. So I tried to solve this.

Why does this happen?

Investigating the reasons, I discovered that it happens because EA doesn't pay attention to clothing categorizations. Thematic clothes from the expansions are marked as "valid for randomization", which means that they are eligible to be chosen by the game engine in three situations: Random Sim Button in the Cas, on NPCs generated by the game, such as service NPCs and coworkers, and when changing age, especially from child>teen or teenager>adult. Add this to the Sims with "pudding face" and you have horrible NPCs.

How did I manage to solve it?

Well, the solution is already implicit. I used the Easy CASP Editor tool to uncheck hats, tunics, supposedly futuristic clothes, among others for random Sims, thus resulting in less strange Sims walking around. I know there is a mod that already does this, but I didn't get satisfactory results, I wanted something more in-depth.

So, even in CAS, when you click on the dice, random Sims will have sober and cohesive clothes. I also did something that bothered me a lot, I recategorized cold weather clothes that couldn't be used as outerwear (even though they should), and this will give you more variety for this type of clothing.

I also made very formal, cold weather clothes, or very exposing clothes into non-random clothes. I did this because I came across a problem that I had even after removing the crazy clothes from the themed expansions: terrible fashion sense of Sims who wore parts that didn't match. For example, sims wearing jackets, short shorts and flip-flops. So this type of clothing was marked as non-random, so sweaters will only be seen on NPCs in the winter. Shorter clothes, only if you decide to put them on the sims, the same for more formal clothes.

Why am I posting here?

I'm posting here for testing purposes, because I made this MOD for personal use, but the results were so satisfactory that I believe more people might want to play The Sims with beautiful sims. However, I have all the expansions, packs and some items from the store, besides CC and I recategorized all of them. Therefore, I don't know how this mod will behave with people who don't have all the expansions. So I'm publishing this Beta here to know the results.

I don't think there will be any problems, because in the base game, there is content from other expansions, but they are unused. It would be the same premise of this mod, it would only work on the clothes you have in the game, even though it was designed to work on all existing ones.

This mod, if used with mods that solve the problem of Sims with "pudding face", like LD's Randon Sim Fixes, will give a new look to your game. I hope you like it!

Default Issue
I discovered one issue. Missing any content (store/EP/SP) that's being edited by this mod will result in a blank outfit in the CAS. You can see it in the pictures.
It would be great if there was different package file for each pack/store content so this problem can be avoided.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll check what I can do. Custom content installed from the store, for example, is not referenced in CASP correctly, so it wouldn't be possible to separate them. But for expansion, I think it would be possible, it would just be a lot of work.

Just a note that NRaas MasterController, Dresser, and StoryProgression can fix both issues (outfit assignments and pudding faces), so the issue is less common with the wide use of those mods.

If you want, you could @ a moderator to move this thread into the Creator Feedback section where more regular players may see it

I'm waiting for more feedback to decide if it's worth investing time creating individual files for each expansion as the friend above suggested.

To be fair, the process you have to go through with those mods to individually remove each undesired item can be a bit tedious. I think OP's purpose is to make an easy drag-and-drop solution which I think could be a huge asset. Especially if we can some day find a way to disable all CC for townies at once like Sims 4 Studio can do, but that part may be wishful thinking. :p

You mean like in my bulk recategorisation tutorial?
Using Dresser's Valid Parts file (versus Invalid parts) would also have the same effect, to function as a whitelist that disables everything except what you specify.

I just thought I'd add the alternative in response the first part about 'everyone here has had or still has problems with NPC outfits'. Just in case they didn't know there were other solutions
This method is good too, but it just poses the risks as shown above that it's not compatible for all users.
