Happy 25th Anniversary of The Sims! Complete collection of goodies from thesims.ea.com (Get Cool Stuff!) + TV Commercials
I think, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the game and the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection, it’s a great idea to share it with you! I collected all this back in December 2024.

I’ve compiled what I hope is a complete collection of goodies from the "Get Cool Stuff!" section of the official Maxis website (thesims.ea.com) from 2000 to 2004. I hope you enjoy it! Some of these things are now hard to find online, you have to dig through archives extensively.

Contents:

  • Objects – COMPLETE (includes only items not already in The Sims: Complete Collection/The Sims: Legacy Collection such as McDonalds Cart, Pepsi Machine or Intel Computer etc.)
  • Tools – COMPLETE (official soft by Maxis such as The Sims Creator or The Sims Make-A-Celebrity etc.)
  • Skins – COMPLETE (includes excluded NPCs skins from The Sims: Hot Date, NPCs from the French edition of The Sims, unused skins from The Sims: Livin' Large and The Sims: Makin' Magic, skins from TV Commercials, exclusive alien child skins from The Sims: Livin' Large, skins for pets and much more)
  • Homes – COMPLETE (includes the White House (Agent family), other official Maxis houses and commercial lots created for The Sims: Hot Date in collaboration with The Sims: House Party)
  • Game Updates – NOT INCLUDED (already patched in The Sims: Complete Collection/The Sims: Legacy Collection)
  • Installation Utilities – COMPLETE (soft to completely remove The Sims from your registry, works only for The Sims: Complete Collection, because The Sims Legacy Collection no longer creates any registry entries)
  • Desktop Downloads – COMPLETE (includes wallpapers, chatter boxes, jukebox, mini games etc.)
  • Graphics & Sound Packs – COMPLETE (includes campfire songs in simlish with lyrics, simlish recording sessions, pictures, GIFs and alot of other stuff, soundtracks from The Sims: House Party and The Sims: Superstar are not included, as they are freely available online)
  • NPC Downloads – NOT INCLUDED (already in The Sims: Complete Collection/The Sims: Legacy Collection)

How to install:

  1. (CC) Objects - Goes to Downloads with subfolders

  2. (CC) Skins - Sims and Pets skins goes to GameData/Skins without subfolders, copy/paste needed skins from the folders, The Sims: Hot Date NPCs skins goes to GameData/Skins (new NPCs will only be generated in a new save file) and NPCs templates goes to TemplateNPCs, French NPCs skins work as default replacements and should be placed in GameData/Textures

  3. (CC) Homes - FAM (Neighborhood) and DTL (Downtown) goes to C:/Users/*USERNAME*/Saved Games/Electronic Arts/The Sims 25/UserData/Import without subfolders for The Sims: Legacy Collection or the main folder of the game UserData/Import for The Sims: Complete Collection. The White House (Agent family) also required installed Floors (goes to GameData/Floors) and Walls (goes to GameData/Walls) These lots can be imported into the game using these buttons:

Happy Simming!

Also I've collected all the TV Commercials for the PC version of The Sims that ever existed! They are very similar to what EA made to celebrate The Sims 25th Anniversary!

Thank you for this.
I haven't unzipped the download yet, but I watched the commercials. And what fun to watch those wacky commercials! LOL

Oh, wow . I remember that outdoor lamp vividly -- I think it was the first non-vanilla object I ever had in my game way back when. That was when the first patch was 1.5 mbs.

There's a Tools folder - where do I put that?

I stream (sometimes The Sims 1 and 2) sporadically here: https://www.twitch.tv/silveryhobgoblin

I haven't downloaded this, but it might depend on whether what's in the folder is the tools themselves or their installers?

I'm not a person who understands computer files so I've uploaded an example from The Sims Art Studio! folder.

Looks like that needs to be installed if you want to use that tool. You'd need to run (double click) the setup.exe file.

Thanks. Any idea where I should place the tool after extracting?

Does running setup.exe cause an installer to happen? The installer will put the files it needs where they need to go. If it does that successfully then it's already done with the folder in the tools folder and probably doesn't need it at all. If you are asking where to extract it to use setup.exe then it shouldn't matter (if setup.exe is an installer); just extract it wherever you want and use the exe to install it.

Thank you for the info. Some of these are my favorite houses.

Double clicking the .exe ran the Installer, yes, and I allowed it to install in the default location, but it then can't find The Sims at all. It's no huge deal; there's just one that look for files that might cause the game to crash that I thought might be useful is all. Thanks for the help.

Most old Sims programs that can't find the game now are probably looking where the registry says it's installed. (The registry is a special database the computer uses to store some info and settings.) The Legacy Collection doesn't create a registry entry that lists the install location.

Thank you, OP. These are great files to have. I've never seen the commercials either.
