Default Horses are NOT friendly
Hello everyone, I have an issue. I want to make a ranch for my horses, I have one male and two females on a 64x64 lot. Lots of space, toys and water to go around. My male horse keeps biting at my females and stamping the ground and generally being a bully. I want to breed them eventually but that's hard since I have to force him to be nice. I tried everything. Friendly trait eventually drops in favor of aggressive trait because of how often he does it. Every male horse I have bites at other sims, across other saves. Any clue about why this could be happening?

Honestly no other than to check for a mod conflict.
Pets was coded so that scolding bad behavior and praising good should work (especially if you are willing to swap to the horse, have it do something friendly then swap to the human and praise the horse). But of course sometimes EA's coding goes wrong. (For that matter, did EA somehow decide to enforce monogamy with pets?)
Are the horses friends? You might need to manually set them as that using a mod.

I can try and see if it's a mod conflict. However I'm not entirely sure as I don't have any mods that affect pet behavior. I also tried setting them as friends but the same issue happens, if I'm not careful in watching them they quickly become enemies

Virtually anything, they don't even have the aggression trait. My most recent horse is: Nervous, Quiet, Genius. I had some that were agile, friendly, genius. Others that were Genius, Obedient, Brave, and the like and they all had this issue. It COULD be a mod conflict but I can't think of anything because I don't have mods that affect pet behavior.

The only wat to check the mods is remove everything, run a test game vanilla to make sure it isn't "normal" in the game. Then add back in the mods in chunks and run testing games. Sometimes mods affect things you wouldn't think they would, especially outdated mods.

Interesting challenge! With patience, you'll find a way to harmonize them!

I can't recall horses ever behaving in the way you describe.

Hello everyone, I've came back to say that I've discovered it *was* indeed a mod conflict and I've since fixed it. Thank you everyone who decided to help!
