Default Broken Face Template Fixes Help
I was looking at the Essential Mod List for Sims 2 and saw Argon's Face Template Fixes, but I don't understand what to do. The thread has several files to download and even reading the posts made me none the wiser as I don't know the technical jargon. It also seems that it isn't just a "shove in your Downloads folder and it'll do the rest" type of mod. Would someone be willing to explain in painstakingly simple language how to do it, or point me towards a tutorial-for-dummies? I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to set up the game to run well before getting too deep into gameplay where I'd be sad to lose my Sims if I need to reset for some reason.

I hope that makes sense, I'm incredibly tired.

Which template fixes do you mean- is it these?
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...pic,9028.0.html
If so, which files are you asking about specifically?

Argon's fixes are the "put in Downloads folder" type. They won't do anything to fix existing sims, but should fix new sims made with those particular face templates.

If you want to use face templates based on those particular templates (default replacements, etc.), the fixes are required, otherwise some of the ages can be buggy.

Yes, that's where the link on the MTS Sims 2 Essential Mods post.

Files I saw were:
* argon_archfix.rar
* argon_alienarch.rar
* Complete2125.rar
* argon arch.rar

And there was talk about extracting to Body Shop and replacing templates and cloning and... I don't know where I'm at. Also, is there truly no way to fix existing Sims who have the broken templates?

Thanks for your replies.

Those are all things you do to sims, so it's probably just instructions on how to fix the sims that are already using those templates.

If you want to fix existing sims, then yes - you'd have to follow the tutorials on how to do that.

If you mean sims from the original hoods (and you plan to start over), you can use fixed templates. Pretty sure those would already have fixed face templates (if the creator of the fixed hood template mentions it, at least). If you put Argon's files in before playing the hood, future sims would also be fixed, and I don't think you'd need to do anything else.

Okay, so which of those files are the ones I need?

I use these files:
argon_alienarch
argon_archfix
Randomize_26EelfArch
Randomize_AlienArch
The two first are the fixes, the two last are randomizers that add these to the NPC/townie pool.

archfix is the only one you need to fix the face templates. alienarch just unlocks the alien archetype in CAS, I believe.

Thank you. I did get a warning about both files from my computer, so I hope nothing bad happens...

Your computer is full of spyware. It's far more likely for it to be fooled into letting in a bad new file and run it automatically than for a sims 2 package file to do affect anything outside your sims 2 game.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.
(My simblr isSim Media Res . Widespot,Widespot RFD: The Subhood, and Land Grant University are all available here. In case you care.)

What? How do you know that their computer is full of spyware?

OneDrive? Copilot? Stuff that tracks everything you do on your computer and keeps records of it that it puts on the Cloud (which is other people's computers) and tracks your location and and and and and -

It's there to spy on you, primarily to sell your data to advertisers who want to sell you stuff but hell if Putin or the American Traitor-in-Chief or Isis wants to pay for it don't think they won't sell it to them too. You have to jump through hoops to turn it all off and then they'll put through an update to turn it on again.

Take it easy Peni...

What kind of warning? Could just be because the site is "unsecure" (certificate issue - happens with older sims sites, usually the ones that haven't been set up with HTTPS and such), and Windows/the antivirus/the browser is reacting to this.

I downloaded the files from MATY earlier today (thought I'd look at them again), and didn't get a single warning for anything. Pretty sure they're fine.

Oh jeez, it's not that bad- it can all be disabled through group policies. If you're that worried about it, use an open source OS instead of Ios, android, windows, Mac etc.

This is most likely, I think!

You can disable One Drive and remove it from your computer. You can remove Pilot as well.

Unfortunately when most people buy new computers the manufacturers automatically install all this software and people believe 'MS will never spy on me" but I'm sorry to say that part of the deal when you buy a brand new computer is that you're automatically required (lest your warranty become void instantly) to have the ability for them to update your software and hardware when required.

I know this-even despite the fact that I have removed both those programs, Dell and MS demand that I allow them to update the computer when necessary or else the warranty is null and void at that second.

You're required to have a LIVE internet feed when you buy these computers for the manufacturers to have access to them for updating.

Spyware? Who would know what they put in? Nobody, and they're not going to tell you anything. So assume the worst case scenario-because a guy named Edward Snowden was the one who told us what the NSA was doing.

Don't assume they've stopped. He's not come back (and has in fact given up his American citizenship) for fear of being prosecuted for telling us the truth.

The government does spy on you. Not just the computer companies, but they're n cahoots with them anyway.

So much for the 'spyware' you're afraid of installing in your game. The whole system is spyware.

Which is why I'm glad that EA can't change this game too much. It's old software and they've moved on from their version of Securom and Origin.

I'm pretty sure this was it, which is why I went ahead and downloaded them all the same, just wanted to note it. I should've been more specific with my level of concern.

You guys are making me scared to buy a new computer (and I'm going to need one because my current one can't handle Win 11, plus I've been warned that it's on its last legs).

I like the current one with no Co Pilot and no demands to have online access (although, how do they know if you have internet access?).

When I bought my machine from Dell, it was a standard purchase-and in the paperwork somewhere there is the proviso that you have to have internet access in order to have MS as an OS to have it fully functional.

Win 11 is installed in all new off the shelf computers from Dell and that is the understanding when you purchase it. Dell itself requires that you have internet access for them to upgrade their software.

They can tell instantly if you do not have it because your computer won't be able to install any files and your warranty is worthless. The computer came with a dongle that picks up an internet signal which you use. It's part of the purchase, no extra for it.

You can remove Copilot, just as you can the cloud. Here's how:
