Default possible to change preset color using s3pe?
Hello, i hope this is in the right section

This idea inspired by this mod which changes newborn blanket colors to neutrals or white
https://modthesims.info/download.php?t=466794

I've been looking for default replacements for baby clothes and have found a reddit comment saying the instance ID can be changed to that of the original clothing
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims3/comm...placement_mods/

Which i noticed the above mod was actually doing the same as the comment had said. It seems simple enough but i'd like to go a bit further and change the preset colors. I'm hoping there's a way to do this using s3pe?

I noticed the mod itself doesn't even use IMG files so it seems to me like some values like rgb or hex colors can be changed but i'm not sure

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

While presets technically can be changed in S3PE, the limitation is that there is no visualisation - which, for setting colours and assigning patterns is unnecessarily tedious to be flying blind for.

There are a few different options to see what you're doing:
  • Edit the item in TSRW - this will result in a non-default, so you'd have to replace the ID again.
  • Edit the item in CTU, and use Save instead of Save As to keep it as a default.
  • Edit the preset ingame and save it as a custom preset, then export it from userPresets.package and import it into the item's package using S3PE.

Whichever you would prefer, I can explain the steps for

Changing colors in S3PE is a huge PITA. I did it once, many years ago, and won't try it again. It involves exporting the CAS xml for each preset, opening GIMP or whatever program, select the color you want, and converting to the format in s3pe, which I forget where I found the conversion numbers. It might just be using decimal format that continue beyond what GIMP uses?

The baby link you posted is for Medieval, which is a totally different game. And a lot of bad or incomplete info floating around reddit.

For giggles, I looked into it a bit. A Sim Baby is an object. I couldn't find it in TSRW. I cloned it using deep clone and keeping original info in S3OC (which I almost never use), and got what you see in the pic.

In OBJK edit, it shows a SIMO somewhere.

Baby can be found in both FullBuild0 and DeltaBuild0. Both are objects.

I haven't used CTU in years, so no clue on that. For normal CAS defaults, s30c or TSRW can work.

The Merrye Makers were a CC creator group that made medieval themed CC, it's still for TS3 not TSM.

All sims are connected to an object instance and the one for babies isn't the one to clone to modify their outfit- which is a CASP like any other.
In S3OC sorted alphabetically, they are after all of the adult CASPs- bfbody and bubody. Which are compatible with all of the methods I listed, besides looking a bit horrific in the TSRW preview (which tries to apply a morph or pose to it not meant for babies)
