Default We seem to no longer be able to post to threads using Firefox, have to use MS Edge instead?
Hi, this is a really weird problem I just discovered. I haven't posted here in some time, but yesterday I had a comment on one of my old Sims uploads and when I tried to reply, I was unable to:

I use the latest Firefox, 140.0.2.

The member had kindly added a French translation to the mod, and I replied to thank them, but found I couldn't use Reply. It took me to a blank space that I couldn't type into. I had to make a new post in order to thank, which was odd. Then when I tried to edit my upload to add an update about the translations, I couldn't do that either - again, I got a blank space I couldn't type into.

In desperation, I tried doing it through Microsoft Edge, which I don't use and don't want to use, and THAT let me post normally! I'm having to post this thread using Edge, as the site won't let me start a new thread in Firefox.

Attached are screenshots of what was happening. And when I tried to start this new thread, it just took me to the Frequently Asked Site Issues page with no ability to start the thread. So here I am posting this thread using Edge. I hope this all works OK.

Thanks for looking into this!

I am able to reply using Firefox perfectly fine. Default settings, nothing else going on.

Do you have any script blockers or anything that might be blocking the javascript used by the reply window?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I use blockers but I've used them for years and they don't affect this site's functionality. I allow all scripts that are needed for MTS to function; nothing has changed.

I'm typing this using Firefox but I can't reply directly to your post, can only use the 'Post Quick Reply' function. It is a mystery!

Okay so if you go to https://modthesims.info/newreply.ph...reply&p=6008315 and hit F12 and look at the developer console is there anything weird happening with errors there?

Here's some warning messages from there:

Using //@ to indicate sourceMappingURL pragmas is deprecated. Use //# instead
jquery.min.js:2:22
unreachable code after return statement
dropzone.js:1102:7

A resource is blocked by OpaqueResponseBlocking, please check browser console for details.

Source map error: Error: request failed with status 404
Stack in the worker:networkRequest@resource://devtools/client/shared/source-map-loader/utils/network-request.js:43:9

Resource URL: https://static-files3.modthesims2.com/js/jquery.min.js
Source Map URL: jquery.min.map

ETA: Oh this is weird, I just went in with F12 again and there are NO warning messages. But trying to post still doesn't work. (In Firefox, that is - I'm doing all this posting in MS Edge.)

ETA2: This is weird too: My adblocker (uBlock) has never been a problem before on this site (I let it allow this site), but, I tried turning it off altogether here yesterday just on the off-chance, and still couldn't post. So I thought, that's not the problem then. On another off-chance, I tried disabling it again now, and NOW suddenly I am able to edit this post using Firefox. I don't know what to make of all this. The last time I posted here was on 11 February 2025, in reply to a question on one of my mod threads. I had no problem posting then. So this change must be due to something in the site's coding that changed after that date?

I'll just add that this is the only site I'm having any problems at all with, everything else works fine as normal. And the rest of this site works OK, it was only when I tried to post that there was a problem.

Thing is, the site's coding (specifically replys and so on) has not changed at all. The "newreply" template hasn't changed since 6th Dec 2022 6:17 PM. Plus, the fact that I can reply fine in Firefox 140.0 suggests that it's not the site.

It's more likely that something changed/updated in uBlock (especially given the Chrome Manifest v3 stuff) and that's somehow affecting it. I know in my tests of ad blockers that I've had them "disabled" (according to their own popups) but they still interfere with site operations and only when disabling them totally from the extensions did everything work as normal.

That's interesting, thanks. So maybe it was something that changed in uBlock since February. Strange, though, that this is the ONLY site of the many I visit which is affected! Also strange that when I turned uBlock off yesterday I still couldn't post, but doing the same thing today does work. So it seems inconsistent. But in any case, now I know what I (and for anyone else who may find they're having the problem) can try in order to post here. Thanks for your help!

No problem. Just out of curiosity though, which message editor are you using for replies?

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean? I simply hit MTS's 'Reply' button and type a reply into MTS's 'Reply to Thread' text box. I don't use some third party 'message editor app', if that's what you meant?
