Default Problems with body texture or groups
Hello, this is my first attempt at meshing and I haven't ran into too many problems I could not fix, however I can't wrap my head around what to do here.

If the imported mesh had 2 groups in milkshape, 1 for the clothing and shoes and the other one for the body, group 2 (the body) never shows in bodyshop, it is invisible.
If I instead group everything in one group the mesh shows fully (picture below) but the body doesnt show the texture it's supposed to its just a blank color.

I'm assuming this has something to do with group names or comments in milkshape? I'm lost!

It usually has to do with the subset/group names, yes.

The Body group should usually be called "Body", "top" or "bottom", depending on what kind of clothing type they're for.

Common names used for other subsets are "Noblend" (especially for the clothing part of tops/bottoms). Anything that isn't "Body/top/bottom" is preferable, and it's best to use one word ("Shoes" or "dress" or "sweater", instead of "sweater_knitted" or some such, as word dividers can be a pain to deal with where they're not needed).

All names should match for each subset/group in the GMDC, GMND, SHPE (mesh file), and in the TXTR, TXMT and PropertySet (recolor file). You'll also want to make sure everything is linked properly in the 3DIR if you're making a new mesh (If you've added a subset/group, and everything is set up properly in the PropertySet, Bodyshop usually fixes any issues remaining in the 3DIR and Binary Index with the next recolor, so if something isn't adding up, try making a new recolor and see if this fixes the irregularities).

If you think you've checked everything but still can't find the issue, can you upload the files? Makes it easier to figure out what the issue is.

Thank you! I'll look into the group names then and try to fix it!

Update: the issue had to do with the uv map as I did not include the body, I found that it is better to have 2 groups, one for body and one for clothing and shoes.
I have tried to make all match in SimPE but I'm struggling, the recolor I cloned from only has 1 group, is there any tutorial or guide that cover not only adding groups but setting everything up properly?

The UVmap is usually why you need 2 (or more) groups for clothes.

Most 4t3/3t2 clothing tutorials should have the steps on how to add the groups correctly, since those clothes need extra groups.

If you want a "quick and easy" method, here's a quick-guide (make sure you make a new recolor in Bodyshop using the edited file, after following the steps - the first file or the original project won't work properly) - https://rented-space.tumblr.com/pos...groups-in-simpe.

You likely also have to do a quick recoloring in Bodyshop. This method reuses one of the textures, and SimPE only shows one TXTR if several textures are identical (you can replace the textures in SimPE later, if you want). It's simpler that way than having to set up an extra TXTR, too.

Thank you so much! I followed the steps in the tutorial and that fixed it, everything displays properly now!
