Default Converting functional car into decor
Hey there! What the title says. I'm building a town and I'm trying to convert some of the amazing cars by Fresh Prince into decor so I can place them around town. I managed to do that, but I run into a problem with the windows not being transparent and the color is shinier than the original (see image). Anyone knows how to make it look like the original car but act like a decoration?

What I did is using TSRW I exported the mesh and textures, chose a plant object, applied the mesh and textures, saved. What did I miss, how can I fix it?

There should technically be a much simpler way to do this:
  • Clone the object with S3OC
  • Open the package, edit the OBJK resource, and replace the script with one from any floor decor.
  • Edit the OBJD to change the category flags, if you wish.

That's it :P

Thank you for your answer! I feel stupid but how do I copy and replace the script? I don't work with S3OC much.

Open the cloned package in S3PE, right click on the OBJK resource, and choose Edit OBJK.
There will be a section with a script string that says something like Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Vehicles.CarExpensive1 - you can replace this with any script from something else, like Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Decorations.Mimics.SculptureModernArt or whatever decor object that has the decor stats you want.
Save and accept.

Then click the OBJD resource and click Grid (button on the bottom panel) for access to the Buy Mode category flags. Click the dropdown arrows to get to the True/False toggles, should be straightforward from there.
I think Overwatch looks for the Vehicles flag when deleting cars, so you'll want to make sure to remove that, otherwise you can put it in whatever categories you want

Thank you for asking this! I'd love to do the same thing! Would you be willing to share the cars that you convert to deco objects?

I can absolutely share them. I've converted around 30 of them. Do you know where it would be the easiest to upload without long registration etc.?

You're more than welcome to join the discord server I created and add them there! You could upload the files to Sims File Share (quick and easy to sign up if you haven't already), and then add posts for them in the CAW Resources Directory, where we're working on creating tag-organized posts for all types of CC for CAW! Here's the invite link if you'd like to join: https://discord.gg/kuZQs6wj

Alternatively, you could (again) upload them to Sims File Share and then post them on Tumblr if you have a Tumblr account (but be sure to let me know if you do that so I can add links to them in the Directory on my server )

AFAIK you can just post a link in this thread to Sims File Share or Mediafire if still around or wherever please and also in the CAW resources section. MTS has links to many things we can use in CAW.

I'm SO sorry if you are still waiting for the deco cars to be uploaded. I totally forgot about this and just happened to see this post again. I just requested an invite code for Sim File Share so once I'm in I will upload them!

Hey @anicka.nyni

I sent you a SFS invite in case they don't respond to your request.

Thank you so much! Here is the link for download: http://simfileshare.net/folder/256768/

I hope it works! These work as an object and are enabled for CAW, but the color can't be changed in CAW. No issues in edit world or in game.
